Weekend plans, last weekend in July

After several months off games we are finally getting back to regular clinics with our local fab instructor.
Yesterday was our first outing and was a poles clinic where M worked beautifully. I was so so pleased because we’d had a couple of rubbish sessions in the week and yesterday was the day I had to decide whether or not to enter our first dressage comp since being back in work.
Up to then I’d settled on not bothering, but as we’d had such a good session I decided to take the plunge.
So an early weekend plans for next week...I’ll be doing prelim 2 and prelim 14.

Well, I abandoned my visit to sj trainer this morning, not due to rain, but because 1 had become 2 by early yesterday morning..... absolutely no waxing up, no tell tales at all! Was still out with the gang, looking a bit shell shocked even 36hrs later, but both doing well.
Looks like quiet August for me

I’m a bit slow on the uptake this morning, did you or your horse have a foal?? ;)

Well I was entered into eventers derby today (SJ and XC over BE course) and at the last 2 outings over same course horse tanked off horribly in the XC ( last time I pulled him up). We’ve been having remedial jumping lessons working on balance, rhythm, half halting etc but as I’m not confident the excitement won’t get to him combined with wet grass and being barefoot I’m withdrawing.
We had a SJ on grass in a smallish sloping paddock mid week which didn’t go that well as he kept tanking off down the hill. Our XC lesson on Friday was a lot better but I know how much he revs up in the excitement of the event .

I'm scoring for local PC ODE . Caterer only has fizzy pop, no chips, no crisp or chocolate, and only meat burgers.

Not good for veggie scorer. May pop to Tesco which is 1/2 mile away.

That’s not a small hedge for a 90 Asha, well done!

My giant pony was a clever dude in his first event, just the BE90open at Calmsden
Led the dressage, hunted round the sj (!) for 1 down and then jumped a green clear with a couple of time xc to finish 3rd. Such an honest lovely horse.

Bloody hell thar doesn’t look like a BE90 hedge!!!! Well done you!!!

Thanks both, I found out today that last year that combo of hedges was actually in the 100, so no wonder it looked big !

Well done ihatework, that's brilliant, especially as it was his first event. Exciting times for you two

Well done everyone :D TFF your picture is not working :mad3:

Just received my first draft floorplan for the riding club clinic tomorrow... reading through it my jaw started to drop thinking we could ever pull it off, but it's not so long ago that I thought that about Novice 39  so we will go with an open mind and just do our best :D

Um - were you expecting a baby????? Maybe I've been snoozing but I don't remember you mentioning imminent tiny hooves.

Me too. I was assuming it was planned but am wondering if you’ve had an very unexpected bogof?

Indeed! I suspected about 10 days before, vet was flu vaccing then and said grass belly, breeder said a definite no... no signs tho, no waxing up, nothing....
We were out xc last Sunday, I was booked for sj training on Saurday - day after she had the foal.....am so glad she didn't wait another 2 weeks till rc camp!,

I mentioned before I was moving myself and the ponio further South. Well we're all arrived and settled in! It took Miss E four days to be trucked down (with rest stops), and included a 12 hour ferry ride :)

In total we drove 857 miles South.

She's gone from drought and frost to lush green grass and rain/mud/mildly cold. I don't think she's complaining, she came off the truck and started stuffing her face with grass :o

View's not bad either...

Wow, I'm guessing since there was a 12 hour ferry ride you're in Tassie? It looks amazing! Very different to the drought. I am trying to send some of our rain over but it's not making it!

Gold star to you :) Canberra is horrifically dry after an Autumn with absolutely no rain, I feel quite guilty because it's raining every day down here, also trying to blow some Northwards :(

I did a couple of weeks in Tassie when I was travelling (15 years ago - where does time go?!). Loved it. There were forest fires around Canberra then in kosciuszko national park, which caused a huge amount of damage. Looking forward to seeing more photos!!

Any idea who daddy is? Would have been entertaining if she'd popped that out in the middle of camp!

Yes, the only stallion within 50 miles - at same place!
He's been seen fence hopping this year (much to his owner breeders fury), so apart from getting DNA via bloods to confirm for registration paperwork, I have a well bred filly :)

What a shocker but congrats!!

That's good news - bet the breeder was a bit surprised too. Going to make a nice height? (Do we have a dedicated photo thread yet??)

Totally agree, its against all the rules to post news like this without photos !

Squeeeeeee!
Just in from our Equidance clinic with the riding club. Sorted out a floorplan for Kira to do at PSG which plays to her strengths, and picked some really fun music that she will hopefully enjoy bopping along to. Love having something to look forward to and I can't wait to get the finished music to start practicing :D

Those fires reached to within 100m of our house, with us in it at the time :o We were very lucky the wind changed and pushed the fire back onto itself when it did, unfortunately the place I keep my horses lost about 50 horses plus all their sheep and cattle. Horrific, never want to go through that again!
