Supposed to be writing a report and doing the washing up but instead I'm sitting here stewing about not having my times for tomorrow yet, and then i realised it was THURSDAY! Whoo hoo, weekend planners, what are we all up to? :p:D

Kira is going on a little working holiday, Area Festival tomorrow and then Welsh Championships Sat/Sun at Mount Ballan. She was really good last time we stayed away from home, so I'm hoping she will settle into her stable and gain a bit of confidence going into the main arena 4 times over the weekend.

Also supporting a friend who is taking her lovely highland for the prelim welsh champs, and will be jetting back each day to ride Millie. She had a quiet week last week after her 2 shows in 3 days, and a visit from the chiro... back on the wagon now so she had a lesson yesterday and got the green light to plan our advanced debut, so exciting. :o

Super exciting weekend for you, though no times is bonkers!!!!

Topaz is off to Somerford regionals at Medium , bonkers carriage horse at medium regionals . With the Q email cock-up it does seem quieter than normal, except for you guessed it my class :D, never mind picture and plaque ;), just need to decide if I need a stable or not...

Wow sounds like an action packed and busy weekend MP. best of luck!

we are competing in the intro at Tweseldown on Saturday, times are up so I have a sort of plan
feeling a little sick at the moment :-) !!

Weekend will go as follows

Friday early lunchtime finish from work, XC course Walk, back to wash horse, clean tack ready for Saturday
Saturday Eventing day :-)
Sunday early AM back to Tweseldown to dressage write.
Sunday PM chill and collapse .....

Oh my goodness, so much important stuff going on for everyone!
I'm just popping to do a BD novice test (haven't been dressaging in a while so quite looking forward to it).

Good luck everyone

Nothing horsey planned for me as we have both my stepchildren and my in-laws staying! Full house...

Have lots of fun everyone and do lots of reports so I can enjoy riding vicariously!

Nothing for me except some field maintenance and possibly a hack. We had an eventful trip to Kelsall yesterday for farm ride and gallops which if I were writing a report about it would be entitled 'Kelsall and Koncussion'. Think a quiet few days are in order for the horses!

A weekend of first for me and the unicorn this weekend.

Somerford BD regionals Saturday - my first one in 10 years so i'm hoping nothing has changed too dramatically or that we will look horribly out of place as I wobble around the arena. Then we are straight off to Stafford BE Horse Trials for our first overnight trip to contest our second 90 together.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend!

I was supposed to be jumping Bailey this weekend but cancelled as hopefully I will be buying DP's new saddle on Monday and need as many pennies as possible. Hacking tomorrow evening and sharer will ride him Sunday. Can't wait to get back on DP, it's been almost two months since I've ridden him properly.

Holibobs from this weekend and F will be recovering from having his lower wolf tooth taken out. Apparently v rare so trust my boy to be special.

Have taken it easy the last few weeks for various reasons but hopefully we can crack on once I'm back. Have our first ever ODE booked at the end of July, and we are a bit behind in terms of where I thought we'd be in our comp experience by this time!

Best of luck to all competing, I do hope there will be lots of positive competition reports to read come Monday!

Hope everyone else has fun, whatever you're up to.

Bernster - if you're anything like me, you may feel that you are never 'ready' for it and there will never be a good time to enter. When the time comes, remember how much you've put into getting to that moment. You will soon be flying round and wondering why you didn't just do it months ago! :)

B & I are off to a XC clinic at Bonfleur on Sunday. Last XC was a while ago now so feeling a bit nervous! However, it is with a trainer very familiar to us and who knows us well, so I'm hoping he'll be kind :D

If he mentions light seat at any point, I'm going home haha :D :D :D

Just a fun ride for us. Have some new brakes to try, my daft mare who is never strong eventing, has got silly strong in company!!

Good luck to everybody competing, I'm so jealous ;)
Today and tomorrow I'm off work, so this morning will mainly be spent doing knack all! (Bliss) and this afternoon scrubbing the pony within an inch of her life ready for her owner to visit. Saturday morning will see another schooling session. Currently unsure of Sunday as I'm back to work so will have to see what fits in.

Hope you all have some reports to post-good or bad! :D

I'm doing the double this weekend. I am showing both days which is unheard of for me! Unless it is a really special show! Saturday see's us taking the Wee Coloured Job up to Kirriemuir. A show we haven't been to in about 14 years! Then Sunday will be the short trip along the road with the Wee Coloured Job and one of my other shetlands who is going to be tried by a potential new loan home. So all fun and games this weekend!

My daughter is doing her first BE80 at Stafford on Sunday. She is seriously excited ! I'm excited & incredibly nervous for her already.

Good luck everyone

Good luck to everyone competing.

I didn't get out last weekend after all as the predicted rain never arrived.

Just hacking this weekend

You're spot on Embo! I'm fairly cautious and want to do it well, so I'm def likely to over prepare. Finnegan can do it in his sleep really (and sometimes it feels like he is!). We've done lots of training and clinics so I just need to crack on before i miss the season!

So, bit of a mixed bag today....we got a 5.5 rather than our previous 4 for medium trot, meaning that there was definite lengthening, with just a comment about fluency, which is absolutely fair. Reasonable marks elsewhere, with losses for some tense moments where he was losing concentration and looking at the pot plants, and a not straight halt as I had a complete mind block about where I was supposed to be halting, followed by a 2 point deduction for saluting with whip in hand (that's a new cock up for me, I really am an abject failure when flustered).
But, then, at the end of the sheet, we were absolutely hammered on the collectives. Now, with his muscles the way that they are he does have off days, and today was one of those (I did debate not talking him in), but he wasn't awful, just sweet and obedient rather than powerful. But hey Ho, if that's how the judge saw it then I'm OK with that....then I looked sideways to the accompanying comment that read:

"Hasn't got the paces for this level"

I'm hoping that this was just an unfortunate turn of phrase, and what she actually meant was that she didn't see enough impulsion and self carriage. D's paces are not extravagant, but they are by no means bad, so if that is now considered insufficient for NOVICE level....well...

Riding youngsters and horses being produced for sale I used to love lower end BD comps. But this was over 10 years ago, and I generally always found the judging a very fair assessment of a horse's training level as displayed on the day. But since I've been doing some again this year, I've noticed that the judging emphasis seems to have changed. I'm not really talking about my horse, as he is a bit of an odd kettle of fish, but other tests that I've watched....I've seen a number of really nicely schooled, if pretty ordinary horses, that have done a lovely proficient test, and then when I've looked at the score afterwards I've been gobsmacked how low it is. I've been telling myself that it's my imagination because I'm out of touch, but with comments like today's I'm becoming less convinced of that. I dunno.

Anyway, all in all I'm pleased with my moose today, for staying forward and willing even though he wasn't on top form. Planning on doing some jumping outings in the next few weeks before a little ODE in early September :D

It would be a real shame if the judges started to reward flash over training. As you said it might have been the way she phrased it.
I'm going showjumping tomorrow. My first time doing 90cm

We trundled off to a local farm ride for a walk. Trying to still enjoy some of the things we used to, but it's bittersweet really watching my friend canter about and jump while we trundle about in walk. Still, at least we are out and about.
My friends pony was being a bit sticky jumping and sent her for a flying lesson at one point, she was fine and it was absolutely hilarious! I'd put the video up but I think she'd kill me!

Is that your Diva Scats? She's a super looking cob - is there nothing that can be done for her breathing? :(

It really would, I'm just hoping it was a weird judge. Anyway, I've bought a social media photo so will post later for you guys to judge my horse's lack of paces :p

Good luck with the jumpies today

Yep, that's the Diva, she's amazing.

Unfortunately not. Her whole trachea is collapsed inwards from her throat to her lungs, so too big an area to stent. A tracheaostomey would make no difference for the same reason.
She isn't able to sustain anything above a walk really, as the harder she breathes to get air in, her pharynx then closes over so she has a double whammy going on. At walk, although her trachea is still collapsed, as she doesn't need as much air, she doesn't breathe as hard so it doesn't suck in and shut off any further.

Oh, that's so sad scats, I'm sorry. Nice that you can still get out for a walk about and have a good giggle at friends though

Picture as promised....so yeah, as I said bit 'lacking', but surely not too disgraceful to be doing a novice test - it certainly never used to be

We took the spotty hooligan dressaging. He behaved himself, and did a nice test, which was what we wanted him to do. Slightly disappointing marks, but comments from the judge were fair.
It was at a local riding club show, so his owner jumped on and did the ridden coloured class, then his rider (Fidgety's daughter) took him for a spin round the clear round - and he was a knob!
Best bit was meeting Fidgety I like meeting HHO'ers, and she's lovely!

We went jumping today. I accidentally entered the performance jumping class instead of the amateur showjumping. But it was a nice relaxed class to do my first 90 cm. We came second in the 80cm and 3rd in the 90cm. I'm happy 😊 It was a fun day out.

Coolio :) got anything else planned?

Aus - the spotty hooligan is super cool, but I'm afraid pictures are an absolute necessity....
