Well I haven't really got any now: I was supposed to be on a weekend camp at Aston with my RI but G decided to kneel on a flint on Tuesday so my weekend will consist of mucking out and changing dressings! He is looking very clean and smart though, and I will get my tack cleaned and polished up so it looks nice while it's resting :wink3:

So I really need to live vicariously through you lot - tell me what you're doing!

Sadly we are a bit boring too!

Box is in the midst of the floor being replaced, so plans are on hold a bit. Suppose to have a lesson tomorrow but I'm a bit scared about borrowing someone elses box :o, and then I was debating arena xc on Sunday but missed the entries, (closed a day early ) but with the box on-going maybe its a good thing!

I'm on standby for foal arrival although doubtful there will be an appearance this weekend. Assuming all quiet on that front I'll be heading to Kingsclere on Sunday to cheer on the young event horse I part own around the team chase

Nothing major planned for us yet again. We were entered to go and do some BD on Saturday but I've had a really bad cold for nearly a week (now on antibiotics for tonsillitis and chest infection) so withdrew :(.

We've got a beach fun ride next weekend, assuming I can breathe again, so I'm looking forward to that!

Well it's been a week-long weekend here, with mid-week hacking outings to the forest with Vallin, and Dae's first dressage competition yesterday.

Today is just a quick hack for F as I have a house to clean before viewings tomorrow and work this eve, and tomorrow will be hacking or polework for Dae, depending on the integrity of the ground in my field.

Sunday will see Fergus out with Rui for a lesson. And on Monday, it's Daemon's turn to go out for a little group gridwork lesson with someone new.

Sorry to hear about sick boxes, DFs and pony-knees :(

Not very exciting compared to everyone else but I'm going to try out a pony on Sunday for full loan. I can't wait! Good luck to those competing.

nothing much planned for us either, seems a bit odd not to be packing the lorry!
Tootling over to the BD SW region Science Day at AM dressage tomorrow, should be a bit of fun as they are usually a good mix of entertaining and informative.
Kira needs to jump again on Sunday (fun ride next week and I'm determined to pop some of the fences if we can crack SJs in the arena)

Not anything exciting for us, tomorrow am taking FLF to her owners so she can have a work out in their arena. Her owner fondly 'thinks' she is going to ride her at a major show in 2 months time (am happy to prep and take FLF), but hence me offering to take FLF over - to remind her of the reason she is in a non-showing home by making her ride her anywhere apart from hacking..... :D Spurs and 2 schooling whips needed to even maintian trot - the old bat abhorrs arena's or schooling, but adores hacking and hunting :)
Sunday prob a mooch round with YO-next-door-but-one :

Ours are going round to a friend's place to get tidied up post-winter (we're currently rocking the hairy mane/tail/legs look). Then we're going to give sidesaddle a go - just as a bit of fun and for sis' birthday :)

After the ungrateful horse decided that he didn't want to go in the new box, I've spent the week on loading practice, with the help of an natural horsemanship trainer. Finally appeared to crack it last night so will try again tomorrow and if ok, will go XC schooling on Sunday.
I have a pile of entry forms on my desk which I'm dying to do but need to make sure we can get there first.

Well done JTFD, he looks great.

Ooh VG hope that loading practice goes well. They do like to test us don't they?!

Also a quiet one here for me, hacking out both days so hoping for nice weather. Might have a pop in the school if I have time and inclination. Then away on holiday so he'll be kept ticking over until hunter trial mid April

Was meant to be going to Goring but decided to withdraw after all the rain we had on tue/Wed. He hates sticky ground so gonna save him for SOE next week. Off to Coombelands for BSJA Sunday instead.

Nothing major planned here, hope to do some nice hacking without any rain!
in middle of decorating at home as well.. such fun !!!!

We have been working on some real back to basics with my lovely boy - I have been struggling a bit to get him to work lower and softer and also with getting consistent correct canter leads, so had an instructor friend and fab eventer come help me, she sat on him did a bit of work and helped me figure out what we need to do to get him going correctly, ( i tend to stay on the thing OK but some of the fundamental scales of training schooling points appear to have passed me by in my youth!) so now I have lots of homework to do for me and him and really simple but very effective exercises to do to get him properly in front of my leg and actually bending through his body around corners not just his head and shoulders.
so we are going to be slogging away at these and hopefully end up on the right track again.....
some piccies of before and after asking him to stretch over his back more, please ignore my very bad inside hand on second photo :-((( we are working on fixing that!!

CC more than welcome!

Sunday is my sister’s birthday so I'm making a chocolate birthday cake on Saturday and she is having a race night at the pub she owns to celebrate, the money raised is going to charity which is nice.
Other than that I will continue to come on here to see what people are up to, hoping some put something up about show jumping so I can sigh dramatically as it confirms how much I miss competing.

And that, folks is what a horseless persons weekend looks like, dull.

Actually I quite enjoy the cake baking….:redface3: :tongue3:

Tomorrow will be spent giving our new box a thorough scrub and riding some very fresh horses, they have been off for a few days after dental work. Sunday I have a lesson on my new boy which im really looking forward to

Busy weekend for us!

- Dressage tomorrow - forecast looking pants and pilot is very ill-prepared so not expecting fantastic results!
- Viewing a potential new horse in the afternoon - exciting!
- Having a spin round the 80cm hunter trial course on Sunday to give one of the youngsters a lead, will be a nice change of scenery for my lady :)

Currently in Menorca where's it's pissing it down so nothing exciting for me or D this weekend. However I have got an XC lesson booked at Ely Eventing on Tuesday and will possibly be back at Thetford Forest on Thursday :)

Horse moved to yard last weekend, given him a week to settle in. All set to get back on this weekend (been off work most of the winter).
I then go and stupidly (accidentally) kick the sofa leg this morning and broke my toe!! I am such a cretinous fool!
Might try and stuff my foot into boots tomorrow and go for a bimble round the block.

Great photos JFTD, how did you do at dressage? Daemon is looking v smart in his SRS saddlecloth. If you need a spare give me a shout, I've got one sat in the guest room that's never going to get used. Best of luck for both lessons.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the first half of their weekend and had productive pony-time (where planned :p ).

I felt well enough to ride today and worked on an exercise that Red-1 mentioned on another thread, with the intention of cracking my jumping-ahead-and-not-folding-properly habit. It worked! And we ended up jumping 1m as a single fence with no thoughts of running out or stopping at any point. Considering I was on the verge of selling the horse due to her dirty stopping a few months ago this is an amazing change.

If I still feel human on Tuesday I might try and go XC schooling and then do a clear round SJ (same venue). I should be focusing on uni work but I've been told there will be no PhD funding next year so feeling very de-motivated about it all :(.

We managed to be quite productive, lesson this am and box back on the road with a shiny new floor and ramp!

Topaz was equally wild and good on her lesson :D.
Showing off her impressive hind leg action

Thanks - he was very tense, but generally kept a lid on it for the most part. Just shy of 62, which given how tense he was, is fine by me - and a pretty yellow ribbon for it. I could certainly take a spare white saddle cloth off your hands for a reasonable fee. I can never keep the ******* clean!

Sorry to hear about rubbish PhD funding situations.

Well done JTFD, he looks great.

Thanks. Did you get xc schooling? By which I mean, are there photos?

Both lessons a success. F working on wretched changes again (we will get there - by hook or by crook!). D just doing a bit of gridwork and learning to be sensible in the presence of new horses and people. All good.

I'm off on a 2 1/2 trip to Keysoe to do 1 dressage test! Crazy, but it's the RC Novice championships and I somehow managed to qualify as an individual. Will be sleeping in the lorry tomorrow night so hoping it's not too cold.... Anybody else going to be there?
