Thought I'd give JennBags a week off starting the thread ;) Quite day today then washing and plaiting on Saturday ready for our first ODE of the season at Aston le walls on Sunday :D Please start doing your sundances people as at the moment I am slightly loathed to do a 2.5hr drive on my own merely to get piss wet through ;)

Enjoy your weekend!

Gratuitous picture of D from XC schooling on Tuesday :)

Woo, superD! Fingers crossed for Aston - hope the weather holds. My hay chap says it's not meant to be as wet as was forecast, which would be a start!

I actually have nothing planned (other than house viewings on Sat). I took Daemon to some mid week tiny SJ on Wednesday. Video of second class here:

And first fence in the first (even tinier) class, which Dae thought was going to bite him, for anyone who can't be bothered watching a video:

Where we stole ribbons from small children (soz).

And he's back out on Monday to a little SJ clinic to jump some (hopefully small) courses. So quiet weekend of hacking / schooling for him.

Fergus, I really need to start getting some outings in the calendar. Anyone up for some endurance in the east?! Probably also get back on the dressage wagon...

Ooooh I can join in!!!
Going to Cobham Manor on Sunday for our second show. Clear round and then fingers crossed BN on a ticket. Hopefully it will be quiet as Pyecombe is on too, so we might even brave the warm-up!

Fun ride for Kira tomorrow - bit of a character test as it's a very popular and busy one so we will see how she behaves. I'm using it as a barometer to decide whether to attempt hunting with her next season ;) Plus we will get a spin up 2 gallops on the route and hopefully a few little logs to jump - not sure she's quite ready for the hunt jumps & hurdles yet

Millie is still on flying-change-bootcamp so will probably school on Saturday. No plans Sunday. Boring boring but not worth taking her to a show and Kira has to prove she's over her stroppy season before I will waste any more entry fees on her!

Good luck everyone competing and will have everything crossed for good weather :)

I'm taking Dangerous Brian to a Dressage Clinic tomorrow, sadly he has been living up to his name this week so I am not as enthusiastic as I was when I booked us on. We shall see though.....

Sunday evening we have horseball training but contemplating finding somewhere to maybe take one of them to do a bit of jumping but in reality I think I could maybe do with a bit of a rest!

F and I should be at flying change boot camp too, milliepops. We have a massive mental block on that score!

Have fun on the fun ride ( :p ) - hope she's a sensible beast!

And good luck in the warm up M_G - SJ warm ups terrify me! (Oh and in the class too :p )

Sounds like everyone has grand plans :)
Wish me luck - I'm taking the 5yo ISH yob xc schooling on Sunday - he's schooled on an all-weather course and wasn't fazed by anything but am slightly concerned about his wayward steering and brakes once we get into a proper open space!! Plus if the weather doesn't improve it's one of those places that's the coldest/wettest/windiest place for miles :(

I got all pathetic a few weeks ago when we just couldn't do anything all of a sudden, but now she's getting closer than ever - when I ride with conviction they are true and look good in the mirror... but we seem to have a ratio of 2:1 good:bad days.

Determined to have something a bit more solid to work with when we get to our dressage skool camp in 2 weeks, so just have to press on with it :rolleyes3:

Sure K will be fine :eek3:. It's hacking distance from home so if she's awful I'll just bog off back to the yard :wink3:

Milliepops and JFTD, you are welcome to have some of Topaz's flying changes, we get them at all times now, asked for or not :o, and added to the fact I cannot sit to the dam things to save my life is making for interesting schooling at the moment :D.

Is it just me who struggles to sit to them? Maybe she's still being a little too enthusiastic about them, but even her small polite ones feel huge... I feel a thread coming on ;).

Another boring one for me, now we're all qualified for summers at elementary I'm at a loss of what to do, we have ages to potter about picking up more AF sheets for Medium bronze, so don't know whether to go for a Elementary + Medium or jump in and do two Medium's since we don't require any more points at E? The result is me dithering about and not entering anything :D. Looking for some clinics to get us out and about but struggling to find any...

Skylla is finally booked in with a saddle fitter Monday, so fingers crossed we're back in business soon! Doodle is pottering about being demanding, only wanting to gallop about and has no idea she is 23 :o, so more hacking this weekend I think!

A beach fun ride for us on Saturday! I'm not sure how 'fun' it's going to be, I'll prob spend the whole time trying to stop annoying cob bogging off into the distance :p.

I'm going to look at some yards Sunday, fingers crossed I find the right place for us. This might be a bit of a pointless exercise as I've been made an offer that's difficult to refuse job-wise, but it's 2 hours away in Bristol.

Been there - used to have
nice canter - get excited - grab rein and leap - buck - change - gallop off with ears up riders nose, and then stop dead on back legs when pulled up
Which was a bit unseating..neckstrap all the way!

Now we have late behind on a bad day, and what looks suspiciously like uphill and nice on a good day :) :) :) :) Canter has come on miles in the last 2 months though, which is wildly exciting as everything feels completely controlled and super duper.

Same. The new system is a bit of a brain-boggler in that way. For the first time i'm actually considering taking K to some unaffiliated shows, because we only have 22 points in Novice Silver to play with and I need 15 more to qualify. Can't afford to spend them on mediocre shows and while I expect she'd do elem well enough to get AF sheets, it seems a bit stupid do do that at the moment.

Can't be bothered to take M out at Medium because she's qualified, and no rush to get the 2nd AM sheet for AFs. Odd being in limbo land, I think that's what left me all out of sorts earlier in the week!

Vet has said its really good to 'retrain' an ligament injury by riding on a variety of surfaces so I am hiring local riding club outdoor arena and continuing with our walk and trot programme which will include some trot on a 20m circle for the first time since Dec 2015 in order to film for the vet to give the okay to start canter work.

Not very exciting plans, considering what I have read some of you are doing. Never mind, its good to get out and about again in the trailer and is relatively cheap as I am a member of the riding club.

Good luck for all who are competing this weekend. :)

Our changes are always 'uphill':D, but thankfully only late behind when she gets tired, mentally or physically! Glad it's not just me, hopefully we will get better at them then.

Yeah the new structure is just odd in general, but my problem is the lack of options unaff for medium and above, so will waft around a bit until we need to get ourselves in gear for the AF's :D, though music is always an option!

Good luck to all those out and about Partying!

I have a dressage lesson tonight (at 7.30pm! :O )

Wedding tomorrow for one of my best friends and i am bridesmaid, so tomorrow will be spent making myself unrecogniseable to anyone who knows me day to day!

Wanted to go unaff SJ'ing on Sunday but no where local has anything on, pretty much everything is shut down because of Strangles still, so going XC schooling at 3maids for a pootle, wont have a photographer unfortunately so wont have any Ruby exploits to update you all with!

But have also decided to enter Rubes for her 1st ODE at Larkhill at the end of May, so i need to get out SJ'ing sharpish and try and fit a little hunter trial in too, hoping the fields will try up at the yard so i can school on grass before we go too!

saw your thread about Equivisions on BD forum and got all inspired - thought I could resurrect my floorplan and have a go on Millie but there are NO medium classes within driving distance between now and June :( :( so given up on that idea! loads up to Elem round here but nothing higher. I'm not stabling away for one class when I can't even practice at home, haha!

you should totally go for it though if you have some near you, I did enjoy the ones I did a couple of years ago.

Still having loading issues with the new van so have homework from the NH person for that to practice everyday to get him comfortable to stay inside.
In the meantime I'm reverting back to trailer so I can get some XC practice on Saturday, will be first time this year, fingers crossed. Sunday, I'm jump judging a Hunter Trial.

Yeah I decided I probably can't afford the soonest one :o, plus when I actually looked up how far away it was it was nearly two hours away and will probably be in the indoor, so perhaps not the best use of the money for a tense Topaz... Might have a bash at doing it myself  and do one of the clinics later in the season...

Ah thats a shame, BD seem out to demoralise their membership this year, though I guess it's the venues who choose what classes to hold?

it's a funny old year, that's for sure ;) not quite demoralised but I did suddenly realise music could have plugged the odd gap we've got until I looked at the schedules... Oh well!
I feel for the eventers though, I don't miss that sense of impending doom when looking at the weather forecast. At least I can go to a show even if the competition structure is all crazy.
Hope it picks up soon.

I'm not planning a buys year but from the outside it already feels like 2012 again where some crazy percentage of events were cancelled/Abandoned due to the weather! I remember reading in H&H that something like 72% of the Fixtures that year were cancelled/ abandoned because of adverse weather

I'm beginning to wish Aston would cancel as the lorry park is apparently at lake and they're already have to rope of bits of the course, seems unlikely though given that it's UA

Weekend of hacking as usual for my old boy. Having a competition break with loan pony until get myself sorted with transport so probably a long hack and a play in the school with some jumping. Trying not to sulk too much that we should have been at somerford on a camp
