Weekend Plans

Thanks for the weekend off vallin, as my weekend will consist of mucking out twice a day, changing wound dressing and stewarding at dressage on Sunday instead of competing, I wasn't going to start it this week anyway :p

Good luck to all those out and about, and yay to the loan saddle FW :D

I got all pathetic a few weeks ago when we just couldn't do anything all of a sudden, but now she's getting closer than ever - when I ride with conviction they are true and look good in the mirror... but we seem to have a ratio of 2:1 good:bad days.

Better than us. We're still convincing F it's actually physically possible and not a crime against nature / physics / god :eek3:

My ODE at Elmwood got cancelled this morning :( So no plans now

Balls :(

In the meantime I'm reverting back to trailer so I can get some XC practice on Saturday, will be first time this year, fingers crossed. Sunday, I'm jump judging a Hunter Trial.

Ooh have fun :D

Has a (loan) saddle and is going ARENA EVENTING WOOOO!

Hurrah! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's SUPERCOB!

Just sucks, totally. Not fair.

I spent today playing childish pony games :) Really need to do some work on the changes tomorrow, but for today...

JFTD you forgot your saddle and bridle :eek3:  Looks like great fun, I'm in awe of your riding skills, I'd have been straight out the side door if I'd tried that!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. We survived the fun ride - first 30 minutes were totally outrageous with bucking, leaping, running through electric fence :eek3: and the like... but then she steamed up the first gallops and finally settled down. Halo a bit more polished by the end, realistically because she was completely pooped. :D

Umming and aahhhing about phoning vet on Monday about something to help with her hormones, as this wildness is a bit out of character. She was so so lovely over the winter and has turned into a bit of a monster overnight.

Just time for a nice cuppa and then back to do M. :)

Wooo for saddle FW - is it the Solution one?

I'm (very) impressed with tackless jumping in a field JFTD, always more fun than changes ;).

I hope you get to the bottom of Kira's behaviour milliepops. Angry cactus (agnus castus) has worked well for my mare in the past.

I wimped out of the fun ride today, aided by the Discovery refusing to start >:-|. Attempts to jump start and several different batteries failed to get it going but I'm 99% sure it's the lift pump so that's currently being changed by OH and (fingers crossed) that'll sort it! It's very annoying that the one without an MOT (because it needs extensive restoration body work) has a brilliant engine but the one that's on the road is having lots of little niggly problems.

We're booked in for a group grid work lesson on Thursday evening though :D.

Yeah, I had her on AC last year (lol at angry cactus) which seemed to help, but she's 3 (?) weeks into a new pot of NAF Oestress and not showing any signs of improvement yet... have 2kg of AC to follow so we are well stocked up. It's come on really fast - at Regionals in Feb she was a total angel so it's not like it's gradually deteriorated.

This time last year she was still on borrowed time with a very serious threat of a one way trip to the hunt kennels, so hopefully she will snap out of it at some point and we will be on our merry way again.
Just wondering whether it's worth trying some regumate or a marble to save the hassle, haha! (Bank account could do with the vet saying not to bother though)

that is sods law! Bummer!

Not on Fergus - he's a (generally) charming chap who goes straight and gets on with it ;)

Sounds eventful :eek3: Hope the vet can suggest something to settle her down a bit.

I could've done with a good long fun ride today. Fergus decided to trample his halo in the mud and cavort about on the roads like a wild stallion. I know - you wouldn't believe it looking at the photo from yesterday - but we came more of the way home in SI as every time I straightened him, he tried to knob off :eek3: I can't even blame hormones with him!

It's an unfenced field too. We really could've ended up anywhere :eek3: :D

That's what Discos are like - mine always picks the worst moments to throw interesting (and expensive!) faults. Barstewards. Fingers crossed it starts for the grid work!

Nothing too exciting this end either! Just back from two weeks in Canada, so getting back into the swing of things! Had a lesson Friday morning which was fantastic, consolidating all of the work from our previous lesson, huge improvements!! Another lesson booked next Friday as a test riding practice ready for Wellington unaff champs on the Sunday. :)
Today went for a hack with a friend around some different routes, and discovered I can hack to the local gallops in just over half an hour :)
Tomorrow will likely be a lunging session or day off so I can relax before heading back to work on Monday! :)

So somehow today we managed to score 68.3 and 70.1% in our Advanced Mediums at Priory. I'm still in shock lol. We got 8's for our changes!

Great result star and JFTD I love the bareback pic. Hope the AC helps Kyra.

I tried P in D's new saddle and it made P completely insane so it would be fair to assume they don't suit every horse.
We're working on changes too (apparently!). Not sure there's enough energy in it??

Wee rosette for D arena eventing this morning. Think I need to up her feed a bit as she was feeling a bit less forward today. It's got rather busy since we got a saddle and I had cut it down as she was getting a little (whispers) porky.

Taking P to a poles clinic tomorrow night. Should be interesting!

Just been arena eventing at Wickstead after our ODE was cancelled. B won his class despite me riding like a total idiot as I was terrified of our "step up" from 70 to 80!

Well done we got one too! Love arena eventing

So from no pony party to being given someone's lesson with Simon Battram on Saturday morning and all I can say is wow! I've re found my love for dressage :D

That's an amazing result Star! :D Well done and I'm looking forward to seeing you and Monty zip even further up the levels :).

I <3 Peaches, FW. She really needs to come and live with me ;). Great photos of both of them, was Daisy happy to be back out and about?

Congrats on your win Michen :). It's so easy to build up a height increase in your head so well done for going and doing it!

I did some schooling on Saturday evening - horse has very much found her medium trot and is offering it at every available opportunity. We've also cracked halt-canter and got a few really good canter-walk transitions; she's definitely ready to go out and do some Novices now I think . Not very much compared to what everyone else is doing but it feels like an amazing achievement for me.

Just to prove his all-rounder qualities we went off to BSJA today and he jumped fab round the Discovery and 1.05m Open for 4 faults in each. (He always gets 4 faults no matter what the height lol!) Don't suppose there were many there getting 70% in Advanced Mediums though. He's such a dude! (oh and DirectorFury we well remember the days of managing to do a trot-canter transition and remain in an outline - little steps!)

DF, I consider dressaging my little one a success if we don't leave the arena (or the ground!) unexpectedly. So I'd say that's a pretty good achievement!

Star... I can't even express my envy of the tails. I can but dream!

I have dreamt all my life and am so excited about it becoming a reality. 6weeks to go!

Loving everybody's updates and escapades. Also in awe of Star's performance, mwhat an amazing journey for you both. Congrats on all the successes, whatever they are
