D had a productive SJing lesson at my instructors yard yesterday (see video below) and will be having an XC lesson at Ickworth on Sunday - I'd thought about competing on Saturday as well but decided 2 trips in the box was enough for one week!

Have a good one,
V

I was so excited to be Doing Something for the first time since Trev's KS surgery in June last year. I was supposed to be going to Potton to do an sj & xc clinic and was very excited. I left a £20 deposit in what I thought was their box & where I left a deposit last time I went & it has 'vanished'...one box said Jay Farm, The Bungalow, & one said Jay Farm, & they're expecting me to pay again, so now I'm not going :-(

Join us at Ickworth if you like? Lesson is with Barry Menigen and can be booked on Equo events - though I'd contact him first to check arrangements.

Thank you Vallin, but I can't - no transport. Potton is only a mile or so away, so is hacking distance.

I guess I won't be going anywhere until I can get another lorry, once I've finished my doctorate, unless I brave Tetworth, which is also hackable... But sadly 100s of little ponies galloping about sends him a bit giddy! Thank you for the suggestion though.

Ah, I feel your pain on that front - I only got transport in October. I used to hire but it makes it a hell of a lot more expensive!

I think I will do some hacking this weekend to give the horse something different to do rather than schooling. Maybe ride in the field too. Must wash and cut his tail too.

Boring weekend in other words. :)

Shh..... do not tell FLF..... I am planning on taking the jumping hater to an xc schooling day on Sunday. ... :D
Friend asked me to go to accompany her on her 5yr old novice, as tho hers can jump, she can be spooky, which FLF is not :)

FLF will be going jumpies, whether she wants to. .....

Me and my friend are taking our ponios to Aylesford XC for a practise on Saturday. Neither of us have been there before but have heard lots of good things about it :)

Sunday we may hack to the local show and do show jumping, or just a nice long hack, possibly to the pub! :D

Hope everyone has a good weekend with their horses!!

We are off to Llanthony, just north of Abergavenny for the Welsh TREC championship.

The venue is next to Llanthony priory , stunning place .

Let's hope the weather is kind and we get to see the glorious views on the POR Saturday .

Lots of contours on the map , henry horse is going to need mountain pony mode 😊

Summer Regionals Sunday!!!!!! First in at 9:08am so a super early start, but positives are not long after the arena walk, warm-up should be quiet and the drive in should be quieter!

I was at Badminton yesterday which resulted in two tests and two rosettes :D so just a lesson tomorrow with a tack change and school over a few Xc fences to prove that we can change tack without needing a melt down afterwards!

Owner is available to ride her horse this weekend so an opportunity for me to have a different sort of ride.
Off to Hunstanton with son and 6 others. This is my ride for the weekend, 121 horses.

Boring weekend of working so looking forward to reading everyone else's exciting reports!

Also looking forward to the reports. Sounds like lots of fun things planned, inc the use of 121 horses! V excited that you are off to summer regionals AH, I hope it goes well. A bumper round of reports is expected now you know.

I'm having fun at centre parks with family, eating my body weight in bbq then trying in vain to work it off with a gentle session of tennis, badminton and archery. Not at all grumpy that I don't get to ride all weekend. Oh no.

Making up for it by taking this pm off and having a play in the jump paddock with F. Who seems worryingly to have grown a bit in the last few weeks. He's def taller than I remember! Eep.

Jumping Lesson on Saturday, going to a competition on Sunday to support my friend.

Haven't introduced you all to my new share... well almost full loan as his mum is off on horsey maternity at the minute!

This is Taz, and we've mainly been doing this sort of stuff so far, but hoping to get out showjumping / eventing soon.

well, we are doing a jump clinic session early saturday am. it is around 1.5 miles away so i am going to hack there and back - good practice riding over motorway bridges ;-)
then I have booked to go do a dressage test at a lovely local show on Sunday morning, it is a sunshine tour qualifier, so you never know , although to be honest it is just some more ringcraft and arena practice for us as i am not sure we will trouble the leaderboard at this stage... good luck to all those out competing!

Two hour hack tomorrow then SJ course hire on Sunday afternoon at local riding club.

Good luck all who are competing.

and just where is the report huh?

Sorry!! It wasn't that interesting!! haha

The joys of hounds wound my lad up so he was a quite cheeky ****** in the first test, but some how pulled out a 68% and 7th out of nearly 40 riders, so was really pleased with that.

Then onto the Team competition and well, the judge REALLY didn't like us, in fact I think it was the most ridiculous sheet I've ever had back, god knows who the woman was but she wasn't a BD registered judge!

However, we managed to pull out a team 7th :D Don't think I've ever got changed so many times in a day, changed to compete, changed to relax, changed for individual presentation, changed to relax, changed for team presentation and then changed for the drive home!!

Quiet one for my lot as lesson on Tues and regionals next weekend. No such luck for me... I'm judging my yard's little dressage show tomorrow! :eek3: Brain is struggling to learn dressage tests the 'wrong' way round :o

Good luck to all competing :)

Good luck at Regionals AH and all those competing else where!

I have a fairly busy but not exciting weekend this week;
Have a XC lesson at Mini Mattingley tomorrow AM, and then my dressage instructor is going to meet me to drop his dog off for a sleep over, then i need to pack Ruby's suitcase as Sunday morning she is off to boot camp with my XC trainer for 10 days of all round boot camp and then i'm horseless

So how has everyone's weekend gone?

We had a great XC clinic at Minni Mattingly, i'd really recommend from a training point of view!

We then dropped her off for a week of Boarding School, i'm going to miss her but it will be really good for the both of us going forward for her to have some more experienced input now to help keep us on track. Going to have to tae up running again for the week to stop me eating my weight in bad stuff!

Well first in meant a half four alarm  but Topaz blew my socks off for, a tear raising amazing personal best at regionals, of 67.24% and 11th place in our mega ele silver section :lol:. In shock and will do a proper report tomorrow, need to catch up on sleep tonight :o.

Super well done :D

Well done! That's awesome!!! Gutted to be 11th and not top 10 though - I have been 11th so many times. Always so near yet so far! Still fab though as bet the section was huuuuuge!

We had a fantastic time at the Welsh TREC championships

Pic is Henry in his corral with Llanthony priory in the background

The POR was very challenging, steep climbs up and down !

We were out for 6 hours Saturday on the orienteering

Today was the PTV ( obstacles ) and MA , a lovely galloping course

Henry horse was awesome over both days and tried his heart out for me

Thrilled with excellent scores which made us L3 Welsh champs 😊

Hope everyone else had successful weekends

we had a really nice weekend, shared a jump lesson with a friend on Saturday on a nice big surface and we learned a lot, ended up jumping a metre course, I need to learn to keep my hands DOWN and turn with my legs and ride him from behind...... but he was such a good boy and made nothing of the jumps so i was really pleased.
Sunday morning nice and early, we popped up the road to a local show to do a dressage test. horse even managed to stay clean and leave his plaits nicely in place in the field from the night before, so minimal cleaning required !! he warmed up pretty well, although we are still working on being rounder, softer and more through. on to the test, we were on grass, I misread the ground and failed to put studs in so on his canter circles he slipped twice on left rein which unsettled him and then when we came to right rein canter he was tense and reluctant to go forward -we got incorrect strike off, but I managed to correct in the end. shame really we ended up with just over 60%
But his behaviour was great at the show, he was much more relaxed about the whole thing.
a friend kindly videoed our test and the trot work looked so much better and rythymical than previously. so all in all a nice weekend, but still lots and lots to learn and I MUST keep my hands still!.. but onward and upwards....

sounds like a very positive weekend, well done!
we could do with a week or two of bootcamp I think, me and the horse ;-)
