Weekend plans!

If you were closer I'd be very keen for you to at least have a go on her! What's your big bay lad done to himself? And how is Peaches getting on?

Hopefully just a bruise but he's a total fool and if he can find a way to aggravate it he will. Taken great pains to prevent him running round like a wally this week for him to spend most of last night digging a 3ft hole an the turnout area. Why?!?! He is a very strange horse. I think his new life style has gone to his head and he's like a boy who went to an all boys choral school being let loose on a lager tour and turned into a yob! He's fine under saddle but the rest of the time is completely moronic.

Peaches is great. Foalie due July. I could do with her to ride just now but I'm leaving her off until it's weaned.

Daisy however is coming back into work really well and I am secretly hoping maybe it has just been saddle problem after saddle problem which has caused all the issues. She feels so jolly and forward going. I will laugh if a 200 quid tatty old saddle I fitted myself solves the problem. (Am having it looked at by new super saddler in a couple of weeks tho, but I am very happy with it). Not sure I can jump in it as it's got a really high cantle but if I can get her going happily again that will be something.

Hope your knee heals up smoothly. Sounds awful poor you.

Oh blimey these self harming horses and riders are just not on.

DF that tale about jumping a whopping hedge onto a road - yikes!

And FW sorry your boy is being a moron but glad the rest of your yellow herd seem to be going well.

Looks like a fair few have busy weekends!
Having done 3 days out in the box last weekend, I'm aiming for a quiet one this week & boxing to hack with a friend sat, & then pootling out with YO next but one on Sunday.

Bernster, shout me by fri PM if you want an extra set of hands as Munsted isn't too far off my radar.
AA, hope your gang have a good time.
DF - to echo milliepops, got a cash machine to accompany? Have got high fencing & I like boinging, tho I suspect NF might want a say in the matter, let along the mini-army of 2! :D
Good luck to those competing :)

Bless you, although I have a silly start time so you might not be so keen - 9.12. Blurk. I need to leave the yard by 7.30 latest, it takes me 30 mins to get there from home and 1 hour to get ready. Ouch. I really need to get quicker, although I will do as much as poss Friday night.

I'm going on my own this time so any company would be unbelievably awesome. Even if it's just a jump start to get us out of the start box haha!

Good luck to everyone competing and have fun for those who are having lessons or going on fun trips. I am after a long time off giving someone a lesson which will be fun as we get on well and I know the horse from when I used to ride him when he was young

flatwork lesson today, working on straightness. jump lesson tomorrow to have a little practice over a course.
a quiet hack on Saturday.
then off to wellington to do the BD combined training. Only doing the first class, but for me its a big deal after a huge knock of confidence a couple of years ago.
unfortunately I am third on so will be an early start, made even earlier by the M4 being closed! oh well...

Oh FW fingers xd the saddle is the end of her saddle woes!

Bernster sure you'll be a-ok,think positive :)

Well it's confirmed Millie gets the dressage entries, a fun spin round E43 and M75 :p
And kira booked onto arena hire on Sunday. Love it when a (back up) plan comes together :wink3:

Oh loads of people doing stuff this weekend, hope everyone has lots of fun.

Bernster/TFF have fun. Bernster, TFF will sort you out and make sure you get out of that start box, and just remember you are doing it for fun :)
DF I'm sorry your knee has taken a backward step, and also that Mads isn't enjoying her enforced temporary retirement :(

Thanks JB. How are you getting on with the new boy? Hope all good?

Yes he's super thanks, just not doing a huge amount at the moment as too busy with work still, and really just focusing on getting him stronger and balanced. Had our first proper canter out hacking yesterday :)

Another weekend of building my kitchen and general house renovation stuff, hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll have time to get out and about again. So it'll just be forest hacking for the big lad and long reining for the mini mare (who I'm still busy losing weight to back - she was an impulse buy, I didn't really think it through).
Good luck to everyone out competing/training and generally enjoying the spring cheeriness :D

Good luck to everyone competing!

Nothing going on here as I'm still not able to do anything more than sit on her for 5 mins and walk a bit. I've totally failed to find a decent sharer for Mads and I wasn't 100% happy with how the 'pro' (who was being paid £15/hr to hack) was riding her so I've knocked that on the head too. Mad isn't very happy with not being in work and has taken up field hopping over massive hedges again . I'm not quite sure what to do with her at the moment - does anyone want a stroppy, opinionated, massive, very good at jumping (when she feels like it) Welsh D?

Don't suppose you're anywhere Manchester?

Sadly another day Bernster, eh? but JB you rotter :p am not a bully lol :D just organised......

Hah well I need a kick up the b side at times so I'm up for it! Decided to have a quiet one. I've had a nagging doubt in my mind all week about his leg, he's sound and seems fine on it but it's still a tiny bit swollen so I'd rather play it safe and let it completely heal before I jump him again. Will go for some nice hacks instead

Hoping it will be ok by next week when I tackle a brand new course doing the 70 at rose hill for obh hunter trial. More butt kicking needed for that!

JB glad you're enjoying the new boy.

Jenni - thrilled you're up and about now,

Yes, er, no, er, yes, er, whatever you say TFF :p. Deffo not a bully, you get on with it and get the job done, and that's what I love about you!

Such a shame but better to be safe than sorry x

No competing but I am really pleased with how improved my boy is recently. Up until about a week ago I have had 3 ish weeks of just hell with him. Over night he turned into this flighty monster, terrified of everything, difficult to handle in hand or ridden, generally being an ass. The mares had come into heat so as I was getting so angry with him I was close to selling, I put him on rigcalm to see if it made any difference. 5 days later different horse. He is back to his normal self so he is never coming off it haha.

Had a jumping lesson today, tiny jumps but I actually cantered over them. He has a massive jump no matter the size of the jump so I landed on his neck a lot but I am less scared lately so that's an improvement. He got taken round a 70cm course by a friend and its amazing how agile he is for a big horse.

All in all pleased with him and the for sale sign is down haha. :)

My weekend plans was to take this morning C my horse who is BE advanced for his first xc schooling nearerly two years of epic and ongoing health issues.
I went to give him some gastro guard an hour ago to find him showing defiant signs of tummy pain.
It's likely to be mild and pass quickly but he can't go and gallop and jump.
very disappointed .
And I think I need to go shopping .

Oh bug-ger, horses have amazing timing sometimes. Horse shopping? Always a great idea in my book haha.

Offending horse is grazing in the field with his serially work shy chum ( aka sicknote )
I think perhaps I picked the wrong field pal for him .

Hope everyone has managed to enjoy some nice weather even if the horses didn't play ball :)

Good weekend for us, Millie had a ball at Summerhouse pootling through E43 and M75, some pics on her page here

Then today Kira went for some long arena hire and had fun running through her first Adv Med test- mega mega green, have to compromise on a few things to be able to get through it at the end but she's only just qualified for Elem summers so loads of time to tighten it all up.

Sticking with rising trot for now to help keep her soft and thinking forward, collected walk is still a bit of a work in progress ;) and the half pass to the centre line and then change is soooo fragile as she just thinks changes are ACE but super chuffed to be able to scrabble through AM96 less than 2 years since her first prelim! What a top cob. :)
Kind of eyeing up an unaff trip out for this test in about 6 weeks just for larks hence the choice ;)

and a little go at changes on a serpentine, on rather tired legs! Getting less croup high now.

She's looking super MP! and glad Millie got to go out partying too! <3 when is her next showing outing?

Well done everyone else competing or not this weekend, hope the weather was as good for you as it has been down here in the sun south! :D

We went 'almost eventing' today with the BD combined training, our section was quite low scoring but i was semi pleased with 65% in the Nov24, she's was good but I'm just having a few bitting issues atm, so she was quite fussy in the contact, but nice enough and then jumped a fab clear in the 90 Showjumping phase to finish 6th in some very smart company!

We have had a lovely and hectic long weekend, I am shattered and the 3/4's of a bottle of Prosecco hasn't helped this evening !

Little Alice had her assessment with Robert Oliver and as expected wasn't quite good enough for County level, but she will have plenty of fun at riding club and countryside levels. She behaved beautifully and despite having very few miles on her she coped well. She will be used an all rounder now and do a few baby event classes.

Saturdays dressage horses went well with a win and a second by just .2 of a mark.

Today Little Alice was the cover girl for our vets open day. We were delighted with her behaviour and she lapped the attention up. She fooled everyone with her weight by being much heavier than any of the vets and the Allen and Page nutritionist thought she was. Her method on the scales is the same as mine at slimming world - keep one foot off ! She might only be 15.1 but a hefty 584 on the scales, interestingly this dropped by 8kg after she had done an hours flat work and cross pole schooling. I would love to drop 8kg by sweating for an hour !

Back to work for a rest tomorrow then.

Alice is just adorable!

Weighing horses on the weigh bridge is always so interesting, Simone from Allen an page, comes to your yard very regularly and its amazing how some can fool you, little Ruby is 15.2 on her very tippy toes, and is pretty lean with a long barrel and a big head, on the weigh bridge she is 561! Her best friend is almost 17h of leggy supermodel with a big neck and lovely bum and is only 530.
