Weekend Plans!

My wee lad won then went M&M champion! Happy days! I didnt stay for the supreme as I had a very important party to attend 😁😁😁

Well done EKW!

We managed a rather swish pb of 67% in M61 for overall second and 66% in M73 for third, clever cart horse . That's us all done for regional qualification :).

Did my first event today after several years of my daughter getting to borrow my horse!

Had a blast, super dressage, lovely double clear, only to find that I had managed to get technical elimination missing a flag coming out of the water. My own fault, but soo annoying. Must pay more attention when walking the course.

Next event in a couple of weeks :)

Have enjoyed reading what everyone else has been up to :)

Went to an access all areas training course walk at a local BE event. It was well worth going to. Also got my hat tagged so I'm clearly now a proper eventer.

And oh yeah, my horse is sound!

Bit of a mixed day for us today; we went to our RC easter show and won the Novice on 73% 8% clear of second, was a nice test but definitely wasn't our best. And then tried our new music out, she went much better in that class so was amazed to see a score of 56% (!!) only to look at the sheet to see that there were two marks for fancy dress a 10x2 for Rider decoration/ costume and 10x2 for horse decoration - We were not in any fancydress so scored a 0 here and lost out on a potential 40 marks which obviously pulled our percentage down :(

All out other marks were 7+ for things like walk/trot/canter/rider/rythm/music/choreography etc so without the fancy dress mark would have likely been about 70%. I know its a bit of fun but it wasn't specified as a fancy dress class and the schedule said competition wear/ smart riding attire or fancy dress permissible so i think its a bit unfair to dedicate 40 marks to fancy dress in a class where it was optional - never mind! I really liked the music just a few tweaks to do to the floor plan and stretch it into a 20x60 and we'll take it for a spin round the FSM next month!

FW theres something so exciting about getting your hat tagged, i remember the first time i got mine tagged as a teenager at a random hunter trial and thought i was the bees knees! So glad C is sound again - how is Daisy getting on?

Well done everyone else, i can't see many posts as any page other than this on is showing as an 'Error 505' :( But i hope everyone else is having a lovely weekend!

Well done LP. That is a bit sad about the fancy dress thing!

Daisy is going on loan next week as a light hack. She's happy doing that so I feel that is the best option for her. She will come back and winter on the hill so she's not gone for good just the summer time.

Daughter has pony camp all this week so it's going to be a busy one but hopefully manage to get Cyprian out ride and lead then get back on him. He has put on loads of weight in the last month which I am pleased about because I hated his skinny body when I got him lol. He's outgrown borrowing the cob rugs now completely.

Hat tagging means you're basically a pro now, FW! V envious of pony camp!

I just hooned around like a kid on my pony. Taught him flying starts and started working on spins. He loved it :D

Fab. Looks like you're having a blast JTFD.

EKW that is an amazing outing, well done.

And LP that does sound off, have you raised it with them? Can't see how you can penalise people when you don't tell them fancy dress is required!

We did manage to get round the hunter trial in one piece, although my time will be slow as we trotted a bit of it as it was quite hilly and the ground was hard. An odd mix of fences, some v easy others quite meaty for a 70cm I thought, plus I had to get off and do this style thing, which I've never done before. That was entertaining, as F really didn't understand what was going on, so it took me a while to get back on! I shouted my way around with a mixture of 'go on' and 'good boy' so I win the noisiest round I reckon.

I went as a training experience as I thought he might be a bit sticky out the start gate, or nap at certain points, but he was awesome. Calm from the start so we could do a decent and quick warm up, without me faffing about being scared, wasn't too nervous either, although at the end I did nearly throw up over the side, oops!

Well, with some trepidation after getting decked by Dangerous Brian on Tuesday, I toddled off to our Team Quest outing with the two greys ex racers. It was a new venue for us and Lloyd was in first, being borrowed by our ROR co-ordinator who had never even met the horse before! She did a great job on a horse that was uncharacteristically tense. Next up me and Brian. What a revelation! He was a completely different animal

awwww looks like everyone had a great weekend :D Fab pics Bernster, glad DB has redeemed himself Wimbles, and LP I agree that is really odd about the fancy dress but glad Ruby went well as usual :D

Kira had an odd show on Friday, I was dead chuffed with her as she felt the most grown up to date, no backing off or closing down and I thought her sideways was more supple than last time out - approaching what I can get at home. Horrid low scoring class though so not quite the score I had hoped for! I very rarely feel like I've been diddled but even the extremely smart horse I followed in both classes had surprisingly low scores so just one of those days I guess.

Millie was super clever in her schooling on Sat and I feel like she's almost cracked the 4 tempis - well as much as you can in a 40m school ;) so before I got too excited I got physio friend to come and have a look at her and she has pronounced her totally sound and looking better than ever (I knew this but needed an independent witness before I'd let myself believe it). Celebrated with a nice hack in the spring sunshine, now plotting some arena hire to get some longer lines and a lesson to make sure I'm doing it right!

Great reports everyone. Dangerous Brian looks fab Wimbles! Can I ask where his name came from (ie the dangerous bit!)?

He was given the title of Dangerous Brian by one of my instructors at camp the first year I had him. He would be so quiet and nice and then pull some ridiculous stunt so was named after the Brian Conley character Dangerous Brian.

The Brian bit came from the day that we brought him home and there was a snail on the side of the horsebox so he became Brian the snail from the Magic Roundabout as he was so slow when in racing.

Edited to add that I forgot to say in my initial post that we got 12% higher than our first Team Quest outing so although only coming 6th, it was a MASSIVE improvement.

Thanks! Great pic! I am also envious of pony camp but I've been told I am too old :(.

Being old sucks. I was tapped up for a PC polocrosse team the other month which made me laugh (god knows how short of players they must've been though :p ). I wish I were PC aged!

Also loving the photos, Bernster, and the tales of how Dangerous Brian got his name from Wimbles :D (DB always makes me laugh!)

Jenni, that matchy set is lovely. What make is the saddlecloth? Also looks like you have some cracking hills for training.

Saddle pad and bandages are the Sea Blue set from Rider by Horse - my new favourite outfit EVER.

Hills round here are honestly brilliant, and even better than we don't have to leave the yard to do hill work / small XC schooling.
