I think i've beat MP to it this week! :D

Whats everyone up to?

Our weekend had a bit of an early start yesterday (back to work today though - boo!) when we went for our final XC schooling run at Tweseldown before our first event of the season next week! Ruby was really on form jumping a lot of the 100 combinations with much gusto and enthusiasm! :D

Hopefully these links will work:

Saturday I am working in the morning, then going for a birthday ride with some friends.

Sunday my mum is running our local 1/2 marathon so as long as the roads aren't all blocked i'll go and wave her off! Then might go showjumping in the afternoon to check we have more breaks than we did yesterday!

you've got to let someone else have a go now and then :D

Early start to the weekend for me too, Kira has arena hire to practice our freestyle again later today (then dash back to work for a bit :o )
Schooled Millie this morning and I think we've both nailed the coordination of the canter zig zag so that was a nice way to start the day :D Then riding YOs horse in the evening.

Tomorrow I'm judging the yard's little dressage show and my girls can hack

Sunday Millie has the Veteran Horse Society spring festival, another opportunity for me to get all flustered while other people around us Do Proper Showing :D

have fun everyone :)

Watching a friend compete at Dalkeith BE tomorrow, and then ride Skye.

Writing for the dressage on Sunday at Dalkeith BE, practice dressage tests for next again weekend!

Dressage on the brain right now.

Excitingly I can post on this thread for once. I have a weekend of dressage ahead. Saturday I'm heading over to TTT near Guildford to watch the Stephen Clarke/Miguel Raolo clinic. Despite it only being down the road I've never managed to make it to any of their training before so I'm looking forwards to it. Sunday I'm doing p7 and n24, first dressage of the year on my share horse. Not yet learnt my tests and he's been rather full of spring fever recently so can't say I'm terribly looking forwards to it in all honesty! I'll then be helping steward for the rest of the afternoon.

No competing/ lessoning for me this weekend. Her sharer is riding tonight and Sunday so I may head over to help out etc. Tomorrow I'm fence judging at Munstead unaff so dependent on time I'm home I may hack or would like to do polework if I have the time or enthusiasm when we get back!

Busy for me, but less so for the nag this weekend. Jump judging at Munstead unaff tmrw so another 6am start. Blurk. It'll be a late night on Saturday so if I can get myself out of bed on Sunday I'm thinking of doing the guided course walk at horse Heath and watching some friends go round, never been to watch an actual BE event so reckon it will be really good experience for me.

And if I have time, either a hack or sj F on Sunday. Lots of miles will be clocked up, as that means Surrey, Essex, herts and then back home in one weekend!

I had planned to take the hooligan out showing on Sunday... but I've just realised that I'm going to a concert on Saturday night in Blackpool so its going to be an early dart at farm on Saturday afternoon and then a very late night. Hooligans classes on sunday are first thing and I actually don't have anyone to come and groom either as my friend is working and my Dad is poorly (hooligans first show, so I really don't fancy going without a spare pair of hands). Bad planning on my part, so think I'll give it up as a bad job!

Ours has started well, event horse finished on his 24 dressage at Hambleden.
Rest of the weekend to be spent cantering about the countryside on new project pony

Change of plan, I'm going showing on Sunday after all.

I've decided to do the sports horse class in the afternoon and possibly a couple of novelty classes. My plan is really just to get him out somewhere, and my friend is available in the afternoon and kindly agreed to come.

Now to tell the hooligan...!

Off for a lesson very shortly (morning in NZ) running through stuff for our debut at Medium in two weeks time eek! Tomorrow going for a nice long 2 hour hack up in the forestry behind my house with my horsey neighbour.

Got a farmers tan whilst jump judging in the sunshine at Munstead unaff yesterday. Long day, and one bad faller, who I hope is ok. Highlight of the day, and not something I ever expected would come out of doing this Wobbleberry Challenge - jump judged at an event with Tina Cook riding! She was lovely, thanked me for jump judging whilst she was doing her course walk, and gave me that huge grin of hers as she cruised through the fence I was judging. Always liked her, now have a bit of a girl crush!

How amazing is this sport, that you get to compete at the same events as Olympic riders? Bonkers but I love it!

I took my 5yr old out to a clear round today. He's quite a babyish five, prone to going absolutely rigid then exploding into quite violent bucks when he is worried.

Aim was to get there, survive the working in, and go home (some may say we set low goals, I call them achievable goals!)

Well, we got there nice and early as planned - first in the working in, gave him a chance to wander round and see the sights.

Managed to blow all our goals out of the water by not only surviving the working in but actually jumping round the whole course, no stops, no pausing to put the specs on, just went!

It was actually the first time he's jumped a whole course, and rather bigger than I had anticipated it would be (although it was still pretty small) with all the fillers under everything!

I put some ribbons in his tail to try and get us a bit more space, he doesn't kick per se, by when he bucks, the legs fly and stretch some distance! This worked quite well and no one really came anywhere near us!

Awesome score! Well done :D

I felt like this the other week SJ stewarding at Tweseldown - I had the following all lined up in front of me waiting their turn; Zara Tindall, Kitty King, Daisy Berkley and another i can't remember who!? I was just like :O

We had a lovely hack with some friends yesterday, lovely countryside and lovely company - finished off with a pub lunch!

Then today waved my mum off at her 1/2 marathon and plucked up the motivation to go Showjumping, she was awesome :D Really bold and keen now; jumped a cracking clear in the 90 little break before the 100, was really good again, but a little strong and had a very uncharacteristic 3 poles! (face palm) fortunately the number of poles doesn't really reflect how well she was actually jumping so I'm really looking forward to Tweseldown next Sunday :D

Busy week this week in prep for our first run, Jump lesson tomorrow and flat lesson Wednesday :D

LeannePip - Love your horse! She looks fab, especially in that 3rd picture, showing off! Good luck for next weekend.

Busy weekend all round for me. I also jump judged at Munstead unaff on Saturday, lovely day out. I took a friend who hadn't jump judged before and I'd only done it once at college, we both really enjoyed ourselves and are looking for more to do!! We had two fences in a corner of the course and everyone jumped through them really nicely so was good to have an easy one so to speak! I really would recommend it to everyone. I have come away more motivated than ever as well!

Yesterday, I did the yard I do on the weekends and then went and picked up my new dressage saddle. Can't wait to give it a spin tomorrow!! Headed straight over to BCA to help some friends from the yard. She rode great so really pleased for her. Got back to the yard and helped my sharer have a jump, she rode really nicely and my lovely horse just popped everything without a problem, even popped some new fillers in and a hanging sheet filler we have and she was totally unfazed! Love her!

ahh sounds like a good weekend all round again then, love the sunny pics CrazyMare and Ruby looking enthusiastic as usual LP! Slightly jealous of all you eventing bunch... one day I'll have a suitable horse again!

Thoroughly exhausting weekend for us again, Kira did a reasonable effort at arena hire practicing our freestyle... it's just sightly too difficult for her at the moment if she goes off the boil. But it'll be a bit of fun tomorrow, a nice low pressure way to get her out in public at that level with absolutely no expectations beyond doing her best.

Yard show went well, everyone had a good time and nice to see that a lot of them have really progressed since the last show in the autumn so lots of smiles all round :)

Then Millie had a long day at the VHS spring festival. Nice sunny day, it was rather warm as there was no breeze and she went to sleep a bit while I cooked in my tweed, but I was really happy with her - good manners all round. We were 2nd in the hunter and then 2nd in the foundation class so we have qualified for the 2nd rounds. Also 4th in the ridden championship which was a nice end to the day, esp as I went having really no idea whether we'd be outclassed or generally look like numpties! They said she needed more joie de vivre so M has wangled herself oaty dinners before the next outings, jammy mare! Tricky one to balance really because for her dressage shows the diligent attitude has been hard won...

*waves* to the lovely lady from High Wycombe who came to meet Millie - join up and introduce yourself, your horse looked like a super chap and it was so nice having some friendly people to chat to :D

Pro pics here https://www.facebook.com/HAPPAMillie/posts/1396454127058455 I love the headshot, she's always looked pretty in photos <3

Lovely report MP! Both girls are looking fantastic - I loved Kira's freestyle test video, she is so grown up now you've done a brilliant job producing her!

Agreed, lovely jumping pics from LeannePip and the ever exuberant Ruby.

And a great showing report MP. I like that she's managed to wangle herself extra grub to give her that extra bit of oomph. You're both doing well in your new career!
