Whats everyone up to?

This weekend is our first event of the season in the 90 at Tweseldown for the ATClassic series - i'm so excited :)

Has a fab jump lesson on Monday, and flat lesson last night, quick test run through tonight, and hack Friday/Saturday and we're off!

It's Bowser's first event of the season, too - also at Tweseldown for the AT Classics! But he will be in the 80 with my friend riding :) what are your times? Have a great time, might see you there!! :D

Oh balls, FW, that's not cool. Hope you're feeling better soon. But there might be a helpful vet student from Edinburgh you could steal - lord knows they need to do enough EMS!

I'm taking the hobbits to Isengard. No. Sorry. I'm taking the hobbit to polocrosse training on Saturday. Which is tomorrow. Eek.

I usually take Fergus, but he's been on a sicknote - having smashed his face on something and looking like a pumpkin last weekend, now he's having a facial peel. It's an attractive look and right under where his bridle sits. So Daemon's been drafted in. God knows what he'll be like, but I fear there will be teeth involved :eek3:

Oh bad news FW, I really hope it doesn't spell the end of plans, take it easy, and in your own time..
Everyone else, good luck!
We're doing our own version of boot camp this weekend ;) Madam was a nappy witch xc schooling last weekend - not actually scared of anything but if stable mate was in view, cocked her jaw, locked her neck and bogged off with me, whilst loosing the ability to turn left x-( She got a new saddle on Monday which fits both of us beautifully (even if my pocket is saying ouch!) so has no excuses now, we've changed the bridle to install some slightly better breaks if she is a witch and then we've got a SJ lesson at my trainers on Saturday morning and an arena hire on Sunday for her first proper course jumping session.
I'm struggling with the lack of progress we've made this winter but hoping that now are saddle issues are solved we can move on faster :) Her movement is so much better now her shoulder isn't restricted and I can sit her canter without being thrown about so fingers crossed!

FW - that's sounds awful. Hopefully when the shock goes, you can think again. Dont give up yet.

Ive a jumping lesson on Pip this afternoon, last one was was fab , she has a proper pop on her, and loves it. We are trying to get it together so we can get out this year and do some small comps. My target is to do a BE80 next year with her, but first we need to get over her issue with water, I think its more of a confidence issue than water, so we are building up our confidence in other areas, and will give it a go again in a few months.
Then Saturday Aria is off to Kelsall, they have left the xc course open from last weekend, so shes going to have a go at that, if all goes well we can start to think about entering her for her first BE80. Then sunday she does her first combined training.

Good luck everyone

Thanks girls. No it isn't broken but had to go to a & e as (I'm too squeamish to type it out) it was needing sorted out and I wasn't sure it wasn't broken. They xrayed it and kept telling me it looked terrible. I'm not looking. They were so kind. I was a total mess from the shock of it. Practically a year to the day I broke my ribs. Also a couple of days before I start lambing and it's my right arm. Couldn't flipping make it up.

That's really bad timing, gentle hugs and lots of get well wishes. Well done to your daughter for staying calm in a crisis and controlling her own pony so well.

I have my sharer riding B for the first time this weekend so I will be back on DP. It will be the first time they have been out together which will be interesting as DP is rather jealous of him.

Good luck everyone.

So sorry to hear about your accident FW, I really hope you are ok.

I'm off to an unaffiliated dressage champs with the diva on Monday. I've had a horrendous week that has gone from bad to worse. Topped off by events in work yesterday.

Then the Diva had her first PSSM symptomatic ride in a long while the other day, which crushed me as she had been doing so well. I nearly pulled out of the championships because of something I witnessed earlier in the week by someone I know is also competing there, it absolutely horrified me and I wasn't sure I even wanted to be in the same competition as them, but I think the Diva will benefit from a trip out and my aim is to get through the warm-up and the test without having a PSSM episode. I need to keep that goal in mind and not let anything or anyone else, get in the way of that.

Sorry to hear you've had a pants time scats, hope you and Diva have a great outing to put things back onto a positive note :)

Good start to the weekend for us, super lesson with Kira this morning working on developing way of going, starting to feel like quite a classy little horse rather than a bumbling pony :) Grinning ear to ear when we were working on the changes, she's so much fun and just needs reminding to do it my way rather than hers ;) but then she's a welsh mare so she does need to voice her opinion sometimes. Excited for her next outing :D

Rode YOs horse first thing and got Millie to do later... supposed to be going to a quiz night tonight but I think I'll be snoozing under the table!

Not much planned for me, Topaz has a XC outing on Sun, new venue which will probably have her in palpitations, I'm sure she's getting dafter as she gets older about new things :D, or maybe I'm forgetting what she used to do .

Need to get some lessons booked, really want to get cracking with her changes, cannot have MP and Kira showing us up ;) (this is most definitely a joke!).

Skylla is being all smug about lack of napping and spooking, so can go do some hacking. Doodle is enjoying the quiet semi-retired life and says she doesn't miss the early showing starts :D.

Have just been informed I'm going out on Saturday night, have compromised and said I'll go - but I'm driving...

... but knowing my friends that means I'll be dropping them off after the night out and mcdonalds run, getting changed into my competition gear in their house, and driving straight to the yard. Which means Sunday dressage could be interesting.

I am too old for this chat!

my weekend has started well, with a super lesson on Pip. Had some amazing feedback from my instructor. He reckons we are progressing really well, with Pip getting more and more balanced, the transitions into canter are getting neater, and we even had one uphill transition today !! Which earned us the following comment 'Your ID mare can move as well as any flashy warmblood, lots to like '

happy days, just hope the rest of the weekend is as good.

Got a show for what was meant to be in hand followed by ridden if he was behaving. However they've now moved the times so that instead of a roughly 3 hour gap I now have more than likely no time between them since everything will start late. :( Doesn't feel worth it anymore.

I don't usually post but - tomorrow morning going to local school to video my online dressage test. In afternoon helping build course for RC.
On Sunday, going to said RC show to attempt 1st ever jumping class with big (less than bright) horse. He's not long learnt to jump, but thought we'd just go for it. I fear the air jacket may be set off!

No holiday here, so back to work on Monday :(

In reference to this we didn't end up going. My dad tried to load my horse by himself which just freaked the horse out even more as he isn't good to load anyway and my dad has zero horse skills. I dunno why as I had told him to just hold him off to the side and let him eat grass which is what he was doing anyway. He just tried to push him into the trailer without walking in with the horse (I dont understand that logic at all). Horse then went nuts and bolted into the arena. Caught him eventually and we tried loading again but by this point he was beyond any reasoning so gave up before someone got hurt. Bit annoyed with my dad but at least no one got hurt and the horse is now happy in the field. Just gonna get my licence to tow now so he doesn't have to be involved anymore will be easier.

Wretched spare pony blacklisted from polocrosse for trying to kick other horses. Not the best day. Anyone want a pony-burger?

rach, you have my sympathy. Wish mine hadn't loaded, I'd feel like less of a knob now :(

Aw that sucks. Is he fully banned or can he go back eventually?

We are seeing if we can put my trailer into the small indoor arena here for a week and just gonna take him in every night to get him used to it. May need more than a week once he has an issue getting him over it takes forever. Stupid warmblood.

Even if they let him back (I doubt) I won't take him. If he's not happy doing it, there's no point, and I'm not risking anyone else's horse for it. Fortunately, I have my other one (who was on a sick note today), who is saintly in these circs. He's usually the one being kicked ;)

That's a good idea. It will help - honestly, training makes such a huge difference with loading and I've seen really silly (downright dangerous!) horses learn to do it nicely given time and good handling. There's no shame in getting professionals in to help either.

Yeah thats fair enough. Best keep him out of it if he doesn't like it you have the other one.

Yeah its just gonna take time and a lot of patience. Got a fair few experienced people here who want to help out and already do when I need it. Very lucky in that respect. He was just dangerous today I almost got kicked twice and I didn't want him hurting anyone or himself in the process so we had to give up sadly. We'll just take it slowly with him in a safe environment and let him get used to it at his own pace.

Okay lesson until the end when I had a panic attack on board Nugz. He was a star and just came to a halt (I think a lady caught his reins, I have no memory of the bit in the middle). Not the best thing to do and not great for trying to overcome nerves when I get freaked out at not being able to complete simple changes properly :(

All because for some reason I had in my head that my friend was pulling out of riding him in the show tomorrow and that I would have to do it.

On the plus side, he was pretty much foot perfect for her today so hopefully his debut under saddle outside of the breed nationals will be a success!!

Not a good start to the weekend for a fair few of us then. I sympathise - I was a stone's throw away from a full blown panic attack today too (saved only by the fact that I just walked out and focused on sorting the horse out - even so I don't remember any of it!). It's horrible and so hard to deal with. I hope you're feeling better now, and good luck tomorrow :)

the weekend just got better. My 5 Yo was a superstar, took everything in her stride. She loved the XC, had a wobble on the step, but with a lead got it, and was fine after, went through the water no problem ( water was a big issue last year), and jumped everything first time, even a couple of 90's. Then combined training today was just as good, she was very relaxed, just a few baby moments in the dressage when she lost concentration, but did get a couple of 8's and some lovely comments from the judge, then a nice steady clear in the jumping to come 4th.
I cant believe the turnaround in her attitude since last year, shes really enjoying her work now.

Super proud of her.

Well I didn't reply earlier in the week, as I didn't have any plans other than working on my dissertation (totally not feeling it atm either which makes it harder!).

In the end I went to the P2P to watch my friend - good ride. Then I got a text from a friend asking if I wanted her BE clinic space as her horse was off games. Managed to get that all arranged.

Had a good time, Callie jumped well but I feel I didn't push either of us as hard as we could have been. I've come to realise that I like lessons/clinics to really push me. Anyway, few pics

Looking at this one, it seems that the big table is well within her capabilities.

I too had success. Took big horse to the comp. We completed the course with one down.

Ok, twas only 50cm, but he's never jumped a double, let lone 14 jumps in a row! Was an arena event, so half sj, half wh jumps., an he never looked at anything.

Chuffed to bits with him.

.......my instructor told me to get off so he could sort out our horrific canter work, so my entire aim for Saturday is to stay in the arena as far as possible, try not to fall off, get somewhere over 56% and generally not make a boob of myself or my poor mare! We should have done the Intros but that would've been an earlier start and hey ho, what's a bit of a challenge!

Well, after an abysmal practice on Friday morning, I briefly pondered withdrawing to save face, but thought better of it, went along and we blimin well won our first class Prelim 1 with 72.11%!! I might have had a bit of a watery eye when I was handed my rosette, totally unexpected!! My very first rosette with her and it was a red one. 😊

Our second class, prelim 13, wasn't as good, my concentration was gone and my wee dressage diva was getting tired, so I left thinking I'd be lucky to come much above last. We got 6th!!

Chuffed to bits with my wee mare, she's a super wee cob and we had some really nice comments from the judge. :)

Such a happy outing.

After a rubbish week, I was in two minds about whether to go to the championships today, but decided that the Diva could do with an outing and it would be the kick up the backside for me.

We qualified for the Intro class championship. Pony has had major issues with PSSM so it's been a struggle to get her fit enough to just do walk and trot tests.
I've learnt I can't over cook her in the warm-up, so that was mostly walk with a few trots. Then into the test. She was a bit 'looky' and unfocused at times, but tried her heart out for me. She was very puffed at the end, so obviously a bit symptomatic, but it doesn't stop her giving it her best. She doesn't find travelling or competing particularly easy, if I'm honest, but we're getting there.

Was overjoyed to see we came 2nd with 72.39%, out of a class of 9.

She behaved impeccably for her first prize-giving, although the applause gave her a shock!
Was flying solo today, but the parental unit kindly appeared to support, so got a few photos.

Lovely end to our Intro career, next step, prelim..!
