Weekend plans...

This thread always seems to come round early these days, time is zipping past. Good luck with the viewing, are you after a new Wobbleberry steed?

Flatwork lesson tonight, then xc schooling on Sat, in the continuing effort to regain my confidence and locate my brave pants. Confidence is such a shaky thing. We've gone from sailing over what for me we're fairly meaty 80 jumps, to being wobbly about stuff I've jumped loads before and trotting over 60cm sj. Sigh.

Can finally start contributing again :D

Flat lesson tomorrow and then my trainer is helping me get my 3yo riding away.
Saturday I'm taking one of dad's and my big lad to a BS show, Sunday is unaffiliated jumping (planning on schooling round), and then BS again on Tuesday with my big lad.

Tomorrow I be attending a second viewing - please keep your fingers crossed for me.

What's everyone else up to?

Oh what are you looking for?

It feels like Friday for me as off work tomorrow :D

Completely non-horsey for me this weekend as off to V with some friends so please pray for good weather, getting too old for camping in the rain! :D

Back on Monday for a very horsey week. Have a 4 day HGV course; as its not near home i'm taking Ruby to my instructors for the week (much closer to the course) for a few days training and living in the lorry before Tweseldown next Saturday!

Yes sort of. I've sold my completely bombproof safe cob and need to replace her with something similar which also jumps. With the kids in tow (one isn't mine and is a novice, I don't mind riding him just with my own daughter as she is at least as competent as I am!) and Cyprian being so big I can't really use him when I'm riding out with them. He's actually in most ways more bombproof than my cob but he has a few hang ups (from his past) which mean I can't ride and lead from him plus getting on and off in a hurry is a nightmare. So a bombproof hack and jumping cob is what I'm looking for. Hired a course to really test this one out and see if he's going to look after me over fences too.

I nearly posted last night but I held off :D

Good luck at your lessons.

Well Topaz needs to locate her brave pants as our AF tomorrow is in their indoor... l'sigh I know Northallerton's indoor isn't scary, Topaz is completely convinced it is the room of death :rolleyes3:, I love spending £37 + travel expenses for a training round I 'really' do ;)...

However Topaz does like to surprise me and she's already done two whole advanced medium tests so we are totally prepared right?

Good luck all and hope he is the one FfionWinnie :).

Absolutely no shame in having to take a step back and put the jumps down when you need to. The amount of times I've had to do it because suddenly I'm scared to death and in tears over something that I had jumped the week before no problem (my poor trainer!). Confidence is fragile and we've got to do what we can to preserve it.

Be kind to yourself when you need to be and push yourself when you can - this is a formula that's worked for me :) best of luck with the XC schooling, you've got this!!

We have some unaffiliated evening dressage tonight (informal, 'come as you are', so no show jackets, either! Yay!), going to do Prelim 14 and then have a go at Novice 27 :)

Friday a hack, Saturday off to Parwood for some XC schooling - trainer is going to hop on and take him over some big/scary fences to remind B that he really shouldn't be stopping at a tiny canoe :D :D :D

Then a quiet one Sunday, might lunge or give an extra day off.

Good luck with the viewing FW & good luck in the indoor-of-doom AH :D

Hope everyone else has fun :)

Very exciting! looking forward to an update :)

Oh I've been there - not nice at all

So for me, after well over a year of not being able to ride my horse due to his physical problems I finally now have a new horse, 10th day of ownership today :)

So tomorrow we will have a jump at home, Saturday to the beach and Sunday xc schooling (weather and ground permitting)

He'll probably then get a couple of days off before our first lesson on Wednesday

So excited - he is a super young horse and I'm loving every minute with him

Oh I have never been so glad to see this thread - this week has been LONG.
Working Saturday, but hopefully not Sunday. Planning some decent hacks and schooling now that no jumping practice has meant canter boot camp can be brought forwards :D
Good luck with AF Alex - hope the lean mean dressage machine surprises you
Hope the horse is what you're after FW
Have fun dressaging, facing down jumping demons and enjoying young horses everyone else

I'll be working, working, working. Teaching all night tonight, SJ comp at work on Friday night so that will be a late one too. Then the usual weekend teaching and yard work. Just have to keep thinking about Burghley XC day and the shopping with mum...

Have fun everyone competing/generally having a more exciting weekend than I!!

Nothing actually formally planned, which is rare for me! A bit of r&r to get over this ridiculous cold I think :D

Some yard ponies to ride, Kira got a clean bill of health from the physio this morning so she can also crack on and do a bit, has been suggested she do some raised poles to help mobilise under the saddle so might start that on Sunday

. Got some arena hire planned on Tuesday.

Have fun everyone :D

Going home to pony sit while the parents go on holiday - so might take frank to do some old man showing! Possibly suggested a beach trip to friend with his best mate but I'm not sure I can trust him not to generate damage as it has been a long time! So that might end up on the nice idea but pile.

Lesson tonight, and I might be going XC schooling on Sat, but depends if my mum lets me borrow her car. I managed to lose her keys last weekend, having got safely home, I went back out to get some stuff I'd left in there accidentally, locked the car and came inside but didn't realise until 2hrs later that keys were not on the rack where they were meant to be... big oops! We still haven't found them, but they must be around somewhere as they can't be anywhere except in the house or in the few metres between the car and the house! We do have a spare set but I'm not sure she'll let me borrow it until the other set turn up  :(

Ohhh for you or mini FW?????

Fionn and I had a fab xc session yesterday at a strange venue and in the strong winds... Jumped a huge ditch :o

My 6yo and his pony were there too and had great fun, until he got over excited :(

We are heading for a novice connie class at a local show on Sat.

FW hope second viewing goes well and new cob is exactly what you are looking for.

Busy packing up what seems like a monumental amount of stuff for the TREC Level 1 championships at Eydon this weekend. Luckily it's only 15 miles away so I can always pop home if I need to. We are on fairly early both days and I'm hoping to miss the rain showers. Good luck to everyone competing this weekend and if you are having lesson or hacking hope they go well too.

FW, good luck! I hope the jumping cob is everything you're looking for :)

Bernster - don't worry, I'm another whose jumping confidence disappears as quickly as a ginger nut in a cup of tea. It seems to take a lot longer to build up than it does to lose it, keep plugging away and you'll get there!

AH - best of luck. I'm feeling similar about our Novice AF at Sparsholt next week as our warm-up comp there was a bit of a disaster :( I'm sure Topaz will be fine!

Quiet horsey weekend here too. Pocholo is back on form so we have a lesson on Saturday. Indio feels very happy with life so we may do our first little canter - he keeps offering a lovely collected canter on hacks so I thought I'd better take the hint ;)

Have a fun weekend everyone :)

Good luck at the viewing FW & for competing AH & everyone else that may need it! Fingers crossed the sun shines at V LeannePip.

I've got an Equipilates lesson on Saturday & planning a couple of hours of hacking on Sunday, before taking our dog to a show.

Have fun all! A quiet one compared to recently, which is good! Have a flat lesson before work tomorrow and then will go up on the downs for a blast Sat morning :biggrin3:

hacking Friday and Saturday, and then more dressage on Sunday. Its our last shot at My Quest and then we will just have to sit back and wait to see if we have qualified.
Hope everyone has a fun weekend

Its the Shetland Pony Breed Show this Sunday and I have 4 going ... I am going to be running around like a headless chicken for the next few days getting everything sorted! I am taking 2 up to put in the stables on Saturday so I only need to do 1 trip in the morning. First class is 8.30am for the gelding. Straight out of that, throw his tack on and send him straight into the HOYS Ridden Qualifier ... But that's someone elses problem from the minute I hand him over to his rider!

Then I have 2 mares in at 9am. I am taking my favourite of course! Lucy Lu! Her daughter is also in the class. Then straight after them is the Wee Coloured Job. So by 10.30am I will be done showing as everything comes in one fell swoop! I could do with the mares being either after the stallions or have a class or 2's gap between them. I am going to have to massively bribe my sister into holding onto the Wee Coloured Job for me whilst I have the mare in the ring!

So Saturday will be spent bathing, trimming, primping and preening ponies! At least 3 are normal colours! 2 chestnuts and a black.

In the Shetland world anything that isn't black is deemed coloured btw. We're a bit weird like that! :D

Sunday is also the owners day at work so I will nip along to that if I have time after the show.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your encouraging words about my jumping nerves! Good to know I'm in good company!

Had an awesome flatwork lesson, with one of those lovely lightbulb/wow moments that had me grinning. Nothing more than a very basic canter transition, which won't me much to most people, but I finally realised what a lovely, uphill smooth canter transition can feel like! Just started with a new ins and loving our progress in just a few lessons 😀

After 10 days away over the last 2 weeks I'm pleased to say nothing formal :) Ronnie is in Germany with the GBR team, trot up all ok, dressage tomorrow so fingers crossed :)

Im taking my 5 year old for arena hire. Shes had 6 months off and only been out a handful of times before that. Oh s*** strap at the ready!

We have a full on festival in the park where I am on livery, with 40 coach loads of people arriving yesterday and more over the weekend. The whole area has been completely taken over for a few weeks with setting up and with tents, and showers, and security men, and fencing etc. Think Glastonbury!

My new 4yo got away from the lady leading her in yesterday when she was spooked by a man in hi viz and luckily just ran back into her field, but for her safety she is going to stay in the field for the whole weekend. Not ideal, but I can't risk her getting away properly. I'm worried enough as it as as she is normally very calm and must have been really rattled to pull away.

So I have a VERY nothing horsey weekend planned. :(

Was it Daisy you sold FW? You always seemed smitten with her!

Yes it is Daisy. I always will be but she's always been a bit small for me (a hand smaller than advertised) and she doesn't want to jump so as she is the most bombproof wonderful hack I decided I should let her go to someone who wants to do that instead. She was snapped up within hours by the first viewer who is happily also local to me so they are keeping her at mine until she's back in the swing of riding as she hasn't had a horse for a number of years. Daisy has been utterly foot perfect with her and they are over the moon and I can see they will become good friends so it's all worked quite nicely. Of course the fact she hasn't actually gone yet means it's not real so I don't mind too much. Will be a bit different once she goes away, but I know it's the right thing to do for her.
