Woo - beat milliepops to it

Tonight we are heading off for our first SJ training show.

Hack Saturday then jump lesson on Sunday

What's everyone up to

Amber's first SJ competition on Sunday whoop whoop.

Before that taking ponies to an arena eventing clinic. I'm riding one daughter's pony as she fell off and hurt her arm a couple of weeks ago. He's fun to ride so it's a bit of a bonus for me though rotten luck for her, of course.

I'm not going to say as so many of my plans have been thrown out due to weather recently!! Will update if we manage to do anything...

Have fun jumping everyone!! IHW - would be interested to hear how it's developed there, I saw on FB that they've added some 80cm fences to the loop.

On a conference call and then doing audits, bleugh! :blue:

Kira is going to a polework clinic with local RC on Saturday.. it was supposed to be an outing for Salty but I don't entirely trust her to do an hour of poles sensibly, after she nearly jettisoned me over a row of 5 poles at home... putting that idea on the back burner for now :p It will be good for K anyway to do something different. I can't do poles at home because she doesn't believe in them. Just blusters through like a Welsh hurricane and send them flying. So will be nice to have a pole minion..other than that, very low expectations around performance!

Salty goes to arena hire at a New Venue on Sunday. Nice arena that I've taken K to lots of times, full set of mirrors though I'm really hoping that the sheep next door have moved, because they like to sit against the fence and then run off as you approach - spookorama.

Lesson for K on Tuesday.

Have fun all :)

Yay, weekend!!!

Hoping to take new box out Saturday for a test run with the big man - we'll see if he can remember how to load facing backwards as last time he had a bit of a brain fart about it all and I had to spin him round once on board <sigh>. So we'll go either to somewhere cool to hack or an arena hire if the one I want is available.

Then might do some loading practice with the girls and maybe take Arts over the road and go for a womble in the forest.

I'm glad it's not just mine that is hopeless with poles MP - I went to a pole work clinic about a year ago and spent almost the entire thing apologising for them having to replace the poles :o That's of course when he wasn't attempting to clear the lot with his very best scolded cat leap :D

Have fun everyone, I'm saying sunshine prayers for all those competing

We've started already.... Did arena hire this afternoon with 6yos new pony and had a great time. She is such a wee dote <

On Sunday we have Dengie dressage for both of us (I won't qualify obviously 🤣🤣) and then a PC rally on Tuesday....

Busy weekend for us. Collecting lorry from second round of repairs tmrw (fixing the first round that wasn't done right). Hack and last minute panic dressage practice as have entered for two tests on Sunday and only read and ridden the first. Oops. We don't do dressage enough to wing it so this could be ahem, interesting.

Sj lesson on Saturday at home. Ins jumped him this week whilst I was away for work so be interesting to get her thoughts but she said he jumped really well - good boy.

Then assuming all good with the lorry, I'll spend the rest of Saturday cleaning and preening him, and then stressage Sunday. Our first outing for a while and our first dressage outing for even longer. Hope we remember how to do squircles !

I'm home for the weekend so I get to see my lovely boy tomorrow! Very excited! Lesson on Saturday, 80cm combined training on Sunday. Am not aiming high after our last disasterous jumping performance, but this is a venue he's jumped at before and the SJ is outside so I've got my fingers crossed that we will at least get round and I'll manage to keep him between me and the floor :D Dressage is indoors and the arena is quite spooky, but hope he'll hold it together and not get too distracted :p

Giant is going to have his first go at xc, meep! Allweather at Lynham here we come!

I'm (selfishly) hoping for pictures, I love your Giant!

Well that was a great evening. M was supercool, did 2 lovely double clears. Got our first rosette - woohoo

Woo, well done :D.

Good luck to everyone competing and I hope everyone else has fun and enjoys their weekends :).

I'm having a non-horsey Saturday and going to an antiques fair with my Dad, I'm hoping to surprise him with his 60th birthday present 10 months early. My justification is that his birthday is in November but I'd like him to have it ready for this cricket season (custom handmade cricket bat - expensive  ) so he needs it now.

Sunday I'm planning on giving Maddie's potential new rider a lesson in the school. The first time she rode she let her get away with sitting behind the leg and not really going forward which needs to be nipped in the bud - if she thinks she can sit behind the leg she turns into a nightmare to school. Fingers crossed it goes well!

I've got my second attempt at a novice freestyle to music this weekend. I suffer crippling competition nerves but this time I'm quietly looking forwards to it. It's a new venue and strangely my horse tends to go well at strange places (try working that one out?). Bit of a pain though as its 2 hrs away. Long way for a 4 1/2 min dressage test but there are so few venues that run music tests. Anyway, it should be fun, regardless of the result.

Just a lesson for us tomorrow weather permitting then a non horsy day on Sunday with hubby.

Lots of luck to those competing and hope everyone has a fun weekend!

It’s only Friday but our weekend has already been pretty meh :(

Was supposed to have a lesson last night but the two people after me cancelled and it didn’t suit to move my time back so no lesson.

Had planned on going to a training show on Tuesday in preparation for BS next weekend but found out yesterday that it has been cancelled.

Thought I’d better jump the big guy today to make up for our cancelled lesson/training show only for him to put in several stops. So no show for us next week as he’s likely needing his hocks medicated again - he only stops when he’s sore and it’s been 6 months since he was last done so no reason to think it’s any else at the moment. plus, he jumped brilliantly on Tuesday.

Day off for the baby tomorrow as she’s worked hard this week. Will probably do pole work with her and Raz on Sunday to mix things up a bit. Beau will probably hack until I can speak to the vet on Monday.

Good luck to everyone out competing :)

Combined training with the riding school's little fjord horse on Sunday. He's going to be so disappointed when there are no jumps in the indoor school!

Today dropped my traditional carriage off to be stripped to start it's renovation. Picked up my shiney new pairs carriage and long reined them as a pair for the first time!

Tomorrow the cob has a showing clinic and Sunday is Dexters first outing- just inhand agility to get away from home :)

Quiet one for me. He had his regular chiropractic session on Thursday, so had Friday off.
Quick little hack round the big field this morning to try and beat the rain (didn't work), and he was feeling rather fresh.
Hacking with a friend tmw, hopefully he will be back to being Mr. chilled

Wow what a weekend - due to lack of organisation in my part we did a pole work clinic yesterday (indoors) and another one today (outdoors)! From the start I wasn’t hoping for much after I had to insist that Jensen got up and walked around yesterday lunchtime, he was lying down having a nice sleep in his stable & didn’t want to move :D

Loading is now a revelation using an Eskadron control headcollar, he walks onto the trailer immediately. This did mean we were 45mins early for clinic number one....

We have been to the venue for the 1st clinic quite a few times now, but I was really pleased with Jensen from the start - he has a tendency to be tense, but he started to relax quite soon and we had lots of snorting (hurray, he’s remembering to breathe!) He did some fabulous trot work and I was absolutely delighted with a left canter movement through a ‘corridor’ of poles in a curved line where he went through brilliantly.

I felt very guilty at taking him out again today, but once again he was amazing! It was cold and blowy out, and a new venue, but the trainer this time (Marie Ryan) was very clear that I needed to ride better and OMG it worked! The trot was OK but not as good as yesterday - my fault, I lacked focus, I found it amazingly distracting being in the same clinic as my regular trainer who was also taking part! Then Marie got me to really focus on what I was doing when we cantered, cue Jensen doing THE best canter he has ever done - I was over the moon, it felt amazing!

Tomorrow we will go for a nice relaxing hack, but I have a lovely warm glow right now feeling that all the lessons are really paying off and we are making some brilliant progress :) :)

That sounds brilliant Levrier. Well done.

I've had a great weekend so far. Daughter is injured so YO's daughter jumped her pony yesterday. Seeing him pop oxers like they were cross poles gave me confidence to put on my brave pants and do some bigger XC fences on him today. He flew everything. Superstar pony. No pics today as no-one on the ground but here he is yesterday....

Looks great everyone, and well done all who have had some good results. We're off dressage-ing today. First comp outdoors in absolutely ages and after last Sunday's performance I'll just be happy to get round the tests!!

Wheeeee! Looking good :D

Good weekend all round here... Kira did her polework without too much trouble - she trod on a few and went a bit self-employed in the canter poles but given that she probably hasn't done poles for over a year, I was pleased with her. Just nice to go and do different things once in a while.
Caught up with the trainer this morning as I was hacking through her yard and I think we might pop back now and then for a 30 min session which will be good for her. K's physio recommends raised poles for her now and then just to increase her back mobility but I can't do them on my own as she tends to be incredibly careless. So this could be a way to develop it.

Salty went to a new venue today and learned a lot about having to get on with her work and concentrate :o I lunged her quickly first as there was so much to look at and she popped her tail over her back, snorting... after 10 mins she was feeling a bit more reasonable and we cracked on. All good behaviour and nice to have a full bank of mirrors too. She was pooped by the end but had done some good work. Holiday for her tomorrow :D

Well we did our first ever SJ competition today... She popped round clear at 70cm and was surprisingly rideable. But then we entered the 75 and she was a bit 'wahey yeehaa, I know what to do.....' so we had some control and steering issues! But still got round safely. She did her job and jumped everything, I just need to do mine and direct her a little better. If I had to sum up our day it would be: great horse. Rider needs work!

So, so pleased with her. Next stop Aintree indoor SJ next weekend. Very excited.

I brought my baby home yesterday after surgery at Newmarket on Friday. I almost cried picking her up, and I did cry leaving her.

My team at work on Friday had to keep dishing out hugs and crossed fingers.

Now we start rehab round two.

I'm not even gutted to have missed competing the boy pony, I just wanted the girl pony back with me.

Sounds like some of you have been having great fun.

My lesson got cancelled today and I got dragged to Ikea of all places. Felt very sorry for myself.

So rode in the school when I got back and had a great session. Working on calm canter transitions and did a couple of canter leg yields and a little canter shoulder fore to work through some straightness issues. I also practised some lines from an upcoming dressage test for our debut in a few weeks time.

Less said about combined training today the better. Horse is not yet consigned to sausage factory and I'm on the gin. Waited 3.5 hours before jumping to get eliminated at fence 2 - a tiny upright made of two poles and apparently had a demon living under it? He's jumped exact same fence and rather bigger at 5 shows this winter, with me, so...

And our dressage got comments like 'well sat' and 'shame about the spooks.'

No idea what was going on today in his little head!
