Well it's Thursday, isn't it?! What are you all up to?

I'm taking the mare across to Rugby to play her first competitive tournament - oh the dizzy heights of the E grade / low goal :p Obviously we won't be competitive, in terms of actually winning matches (I'll have to spend the weekend apologising to the rest of my team!), but it should be good fun!

Hope everyone has exciting plans :)

I'd love to try polo!

Girls snd ponies are at an NSEA Arena Eventing competition on Sunday. I'm the team manager so I'll be there all day which should be fun.
I've got a jumping lesson on Friday and Amber will just be hacked out on Saturday.

Oh god I'm far too poor for polo! I just play a bit of polocrosse, which is much cheaper...

Hope the schools jumping goes well and team managing isn't too stressful!

We're off to Wideham farm for a weekend camping and playing around with the horses in Thetford Forrest. I hope the weather is kind to us.
The following week is a big week for us as so it will be nice to have a relaxing weekend first.

Busy busy busy here with the orange girls.

Kira has a polework clinic this evening.
Salty has a show on Friday, 2 prelims and I had asked for early times hoping for a quiet warm up.... and I'm last to go. :rolleyes3:
Kira doing another PSG on Saturday
Olivia Towers clinic on the yard on Sunday, not sure who will get ridden and who will get the day off :D
Collapse in a heap next week ;)

Have fun all :)

Good luck JFTD and AE! I would love to give polocrosse a go one day!

We have a dressage and SJ comp on Saturday and then a blissful free day on Sunday. Just as well really because next week is manic!

I am taking my big cob to Tushingham for the Petplan Area Festival first round on Saturday. Then Sunday I need to put his showing tack on again to get us back used to it again ready for the Cheshire show on Tuesday. Busy busy!

Good luck everyone, fun weekends lined up.

I’m doing BD on Saturday, and have the opposite problem to MP - on first so a VERY early start. Then rest of the day helping out.
Quiet Sunday for us.

We drove down to Alnwick Ford from Scotland yesterday for our Area Festival.

The weather was vile at home yesterday morning so we had to hold off leaving and then my lorry’s engine warning light came on as we were getting ready to leave so it had to go into the garage for a check up.

Finally left at the back of two and arrived at six.

Raz is all settled in a lovely big stable and we have the morning off as we’re not on until 3pm.

Good luck to everyone

Ooh have fun those who are out and about

No lesson yesterday and hadn’t ridden much due to putting my back out, so we bobbled about practising a test and I got frustrated at how rubbish I am when I’m not in a lesson. Have had lessons for years, you’d think some of it would stick!

Doing some prep tonight but he’s bound to get himself filthy again overnight so not sure why I bother ! Then a little ode tomorrow at a nearby pony club venue. Did a clinic there last week so that we’d seen all the fences. First time on my own which might be a bit tricky as he’s a fidget bum when we first get there, but he’s super once I’m on. Hoping we can work on getting him forward around the xc course as the last time we did most of it in walk as some may remember.

Realised I’m sounding v negative from the above so will also have a mental shake up and put myself in a more positive mindset!!

Headed over to West Wilts yesterday. I managed to keep Cassie’s concentration and relaxation for most of the tests despite the wind whistling past our ears and a poor lady falling by the warm up area and requiring an ambulance - really hope she’s ok - it’s certainly sobering being reminded of the dangers of our sport, and we don’t even leave the ground intentionally. Scores of 66.73 and 68.15% mean we now have our second set of Area Festival sheets. Off to dressage camp at Wellington for the weekend. One of our sessions is a test practice session and I want to work on keeping the relaxation after the first canter as our marks usually drop for those movements - ideally Cassie would like tests to consist only of canter because that's much more fun! Have a great weekend everyone whatever you are up to, and keep safe! x

errrmmm who ate the breastbar in your lovely lorry :eek3:

Haha never noticed that! Naughty pony. I’m getting something very similar built. Not sure I will put any horses in it though as it will be so clean!! F will have no hesitation pawing away at it

Madam scrapes as well. To be fair she's only bad when she has a few weeks off from going places and "forgets" how to be patient. When we are out a couple times a week she stands quietly. I had the spray on rubber coating as I didn't want to have to lift mats and there isn't a mark on it - pretty impressed with how durable it is. :)

Good luck to everyone competing, and have a great time if you're training - and remember to keep smiling :)

Nothing much this weekend for me - Maldwyn is having a bit of time off atm as his arthritis is giving him a bit of jip and Sky has a blocked pore on his back which is just sorting itself out so I've been riding him bareback while it does that. I plan to clean my car, walk the dogs and watch a whole load of Netflix!

well our weekend started slightly early for us, although back at work today, I had a day off yesterday for a lesson at a XC schooling venue close to me, all in all a good session, horse much more forward, in fact now we need to go slower between fences apparently!- but i need to give so much more with my hands over the fences .. i think i am reluctant to give to much in case he puts in a dirty stop- which he has had a habit of doing - So plenty to work on before our ODE debut at Tweseldown next weekend, but enough about next week. so tomorrow, we are off to BCA to do a riding club dressage to music competition, tentatively looking forward to it, but been persuaded to do the novice so had to adapt my original floor plan a bit to include a few novice moves , could well be winging it if my timings are a bit off :-}.. Sunday a quiet hack and in the afternoon a BBQ for OH that my DD organised for Fathers Day. best of luck to everyone out competing

Ho hum, mixed bag so far :D

Kira did good work at the pole clinic last night, really pleased with her. We went with one of her buddies from the yard (Kira forms very strong attachments to other horses really fast :o) and she was able to concentrate on her work much more than last time, when she spent a lot of time bunny hopping in frustration at not being allowed to be next to him throughout the session :D :D

Salty's outing today was not as successful :p we turned up to find a very busy show, sadly far too much "buzz" for Salty-the-inattentive so we piddled about for a while soaking up the atmosphere and then bogged off home. A bit annoyed really because I had asked for early times specifically to avoid putting her in the position of having to go into a warm up with horses already cantering around her, and that request was completely ignored, but at the end of the day it's only money, and I just won't bother taking her there again. She, on the other hand, thinks she had a great day... but she doesn't know that it's nominated her by default for the Olivia Towers lesson on Sunday, the lazy toad :D

Saturday a quiet ride due to Chiro doing my mare - also new livery mare arrives. Sunday spending the day and an American festival

Sorry you're feeling a bit meh Bernster. Well Done Nkicb. The ponies did an ODE last weekend and the XC course was closed for 1 hr 15 for the air ambulance before our rounds. Does make you reflect a bit.
Our weekend isn't off to a great start as Ginny is injured! Just before NSEA competition. Doesn't look like anything much but being fine again in a couple of days isn't much use for tomorrow! But another member of the team's younger sister has a fab 4 year old pony (just turned 4) we can borrow and Katie rode her last night. They were flying! So although it is slightly daunting to compete a pony you've only sat on once, at least she doesn't have to pull out or let the team down.

Oh dear milliepops, that is very frustrating.

Ambers echo, hope you have fun at your event.

Had a fab flatwork schooling session last night, M was a joy in all his lateral work, tries so hard for me even though he is still learning.

Was supposed to hack today but I've got a tummy bug so daren't go too far from the house... eww

So I just did some in hand work - I've done a couple of sessions with M teaching him Jambette and he picked it up very easily so tried a couple of times while walking as training for Spanish walk. His left leg he found easy but right not so much, I also found it harder to coordinate the whip this side so I think as he has a certain flair for it I will try the Jambette from the saddle and if it goes well will try a couple of strides of walking.

We also practised some rein back in hand which was pretty good too but not quite balanced enough to ride it yet, hopefully another couple of sessions and he'll have it in the bag.

Tomorrow was supposed to be a jump lesson but it's postponed so hopefully I'll be well enough to hack out instead.

Hope you feel better soon, Wheels :(

I wasn't sure what to expect today, having had literally no sleep last night thanks to a horrendous attack of hayfever :( anyway, topcob done good, a clear round delivered to win the bronze section :) Bit of a confidence booster after TJOD last time out. Really pleased with her. We were both tired so had to go with a bit more welly than I'd have liked, but really pleased that the test is starting to feel quite rideable now after just a handful of attempts, hopefully next time we'll be able to pull it off with a bit more panache.

Eek a little too much info wheels haha. Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like great progress mp.

I on the other hand had a different day to the one I planned as found out just before we were due to go that one of the lorry windows had shattered! Much grrrrrrr. So missed the event, was grumpy for a while, but then went and helped my friend who was doing the bigger class - didn’t actually mind being there even though I was missing out on competing. So much less stressful when you’re not riding ! and she did fab and won her class. Lorry window fixed now too so will look out for another little ode in the next few weeks.

We had a lovely few days down in Morpeth.

Raz behaved impeccably and, surprisingly, coped brilliantly in the arena - the last time we went somewhere with mirrors he had to be lead past them and then wanted to stare at himself so it was a relief when he just ignored them and the three iudges’ boxes.

No world-beating scores as he felt a little tired and behind my leg both days but we won the bronze section on Friday and were 7th in our first area festival yesterday. Unfortunately didn’t have time to hang about for the prize giving as we had a 4 hour drive home and had to be back before the Main Street in the village closed for their annual parade.

We have our elementary area festival in a few weeks so Raz is having a week off before we start preparing for that. I’m already planning our next road trip 😄
