What's everyone got planned then?
Feeling very autumnal here but the forecast looks reasonable :)

quiet one for us, Darcy is off today after his exertions yesterday and we will prob just do a bit of hacking and school-bimbling over the weekend.

Then installing self on the sofa to watch Burghley.

Have fun anyone out and about, and sending get-well-soon vibes to all the broken ponies.

Not a huge amount planned over the weekend really, though we are off xc schooling tonight so keeping fingers crossed that the weather holds out.

Hubby is playing his first Rugby match on Saturday so I'll be going along to support (see also: day drink), I imagine Sunday will be a Burghley day and possibly a little potter around the village

We are going out show jumping on Saturday! We have BD My Quest Regional Finals next weekend and I'm sure going jumping isn't the best idea but we need a break!
I haven't done a SJ comp for years so we will see if remember the course :D Rocky has been jumping so well recently, hoping we can put everything we learnt from camp into practice!

Oh and we have been schooling round our new WH course... so actually we have done very little dressage practice coming to think about it... o_O

I haven't ridden this week because my back is healing well and didn't want to push my luck but I'm missing it so am going to have a sedate hack out early Sunday morning avoiding the fun ride that will be going on around us a bit later on. It's typical there is a fun ride every weekend this month and I can't do any of them and even more tortuous are the stubble fields are just calling to be cantered on.

Good luck to all those competing and especially to those that help out at events so others can take part.

I’m going to the races tomorrow night, which should be fun. I just love watching the horses in the parade ring, all beautifully turned out.
Then Saturday taking new boy into a group lesson, fingers crossed he is ok, but I can always take him out if it’s too much for him.
Then, weather permitting, hoping to take him to the beach on Sunday.
Feels good to have plans again.
Good luck to everyone - although it does look like Burghley is going to give many horses an easy weekend!
And healing vibes to all those in recovery.

Sprat - I can see your pic!

I am stewarding at a show with evening performances this weekend. The centre begged me to help them as they are always lacking stewards and none they currently have have ever done evening performances so I cut them a deal - I will do both days right through to the end to get money off arena hire for the 2 shows I am holding there next year! You scratch my back I scratch your back type thing!

Then on Monday morning I jet off to Toronto for a week! This holiday has been a long time coming!

I have no plans. I'm a boring sod. Obviously there'll be hacking and shooting stuff involved, and all that. I may devote some time to being annoying on social media. Gosh my life is wild and hectic...

I hope folk with actually plans have fun and successful weekends ;)

I’ve got plans! Yay. Little ODE on Saturday. Bit rusty so hoping the big grey lump hasn't forgotten how to get round a xc course without napping 🙄.

Bad planning though as OH is not around so I’m on my own. We should be ok but it’s a 1st for me. Times are spread out enough that I can manage it although will be an early start as I’m out tonight so can’t get the poo monster ready beforehand.

No plans for me again, lost my mojo so haven't been out for a few weeks. Haven't really been riding much either, a lot of walking hacks! Box needs a new tyre too which I haven't got round to sorting. Living through you guys though so good luck to those competing :)

I've got the afternoon off work today for a sneaky visit to our local XC field with some Highmoor Bloodhounders - so It'll be nice to catch up with a few people and have a nice time. We have Frickley next weekend (Arena Event) again so just want to whizz through some XC lines as we've not done it since the last one barring the odd ditch and log out hacking.

Tomorrow will be all about watching Burghley and Sunday more of the same :D

Good luck to all those competing!

Canter training today followed by chiropractor coming. I can't say what but something isn't right, and I'm convinced it is saddle related. Several people have checked it and say it fits, but there is something off about it. I will also say for the first time in a very long time I'm struggling with sitting trot. For me it's all linked so hopefully start on the road to sorting it out.
All being well after today, I'm going xc schooling on Monday as we are entered next week! I'm helping at a ride on Sunday or would have gone then but this could work better.

I have flatwork lesson on Saturday, nothing on Sunday planned. Probably hacking with a little hill work - mr H is meant to be strengthening his back end / canter.

On Monday I’m taking retired mare to eye horspital - she has recurrent ulcers - apparently although they look like they heal, they are only healing on the surface. Am a bit nervous. Hopefully any procedure needed will be done and dusted in a day.

On Tuesday I have a jump lesson planned with a new instructor which is exciting!

Have a good weekend everyone

I've got a behaviourist coming to Blue tomorrow morning, to see if we can get her better with her feet being handled before she's shod. She'll be IV sedated for the first time shoeing, no matter how good she is tomorrow, but I really don't want to have to do that every time!

She's starting to put noticeable weight on with being out of work, so fingers crossed she comes sound with shoes. Bloody cobs and their ability to live on air.

Not the best start to the weekend as Rog is to get a tooth out next week. Poor old git. She gave them a wee file and noticed it was moving. Typically she didn't have the tool needed, or the time as they'd only booked one in not three as it was supposed to be. Few days of danilon, then out on Wednesday. Bit worried about how he will cope.

Well my main weekend plans were for this morning. A day of firsts for my Arty mare - I took her for a little clinic at local competition centre. So first time schooling away from home, first time ridden in an indoor arena (though did do one in hand show in one a couple of years ago), and first time sharing an arena with another horse (or doing anything with another horse as I hack alone).

Aaaannndd....she was a super star. A couple of tense laps in walk and then she just sighed, rounded her topline and seemed to say "ok, what we doing then", and then proceeded to work her little socks off for the next hour.

The lesson was exactly what I needed - someone there prompting me on my position when one of my legs or shoulders went wayward, and just those little reminders meant she went as well as she ever does at home and did her best canter work to date (actually using one's inside leg in canter does tend to help :p). We also did some useful work on the leg yield. I had got a bit to used to being a bit agricultural with my seat aids despite the fact she more than understands the leg aid now, and I was getting more of a full pass type effect. So a reminder to use my legs properly and ride forwards and we had a beautiful leg yield. Clever little mare ❤.

Overall instructor was very complimentary of her and told me to get her out to some parties. I guess that's the challenge for winter set then! Hopefully take her to some more clinics before too long.

Home and unloaded just in time before the heavens opened 👍. Very very proud of my beautiful mare today.

Hope everyone out and about has fun. Sorry to hear that some have sick notes atm x

Quietish for us: Taking Max to his new home on Saturday. Which I said last week too but surely it can't fall through yet again! This time the person having him is an adult not a child and has her own land and stables. She re-painted the stable block, power-washed the courtyard and hung fresh hanging baskets to try and impress me enough with the facilities to let her have him! Plus she has already bought him some rugs. So that is promising.

Amber is one of the sick notes but I am doing some Tik Maynard-esque 'non demanding time' stuff with her. And Dolly is going to a XC course for a little play before Eland ODE next weekend.

New girl is going jumping tomorrow. We’re moving up to the lofty heights of British novice 😅 I think she’s still in the novice section so might try for our four double clears this year.

Blue had a reaction to something so is staying at home as he hasn’t been sat on all week. On a happier note, i’ve just found out that he’s qualified for the 1.10 national amateur second rounds - the downside to that is that the max height is 1.30m and our closest second round class is in 5 weeks 😳 brave pills needed! 🙈

Good luck to all out competing...

that does sounds like she's quite committed :D
Fingers tightly crossed that this is The One.

I really, really hope so. She had horses at home, lost her nerve after a serious riding accident and so sold them. But missed them terribly so now just has companions to enjoy spending time with. Says she has never yet sold on/ sent back an animal for being old/ill/in need. Only sold on ridden horses. So although this is a loan I am hoping it does turn out to be permanent.

good day today, bar a bit of a napping fit going into the ring for the first class 🙃

Warmed up well and went into the 85 on her toes, but jumped round clear to finish 5th. Went back in for the British Novice after sending my dad to get me a whip and she waited until we were coming round to the 9th to nap 🙈🙄

managed to get her to it and she tried but we had no canter and kind of went through the top rail. Kicked like hell and we made it out of the one stride and over the third part in one piece. 😅

So no placing in the second class but that’s ok. My goal was to not be jumped out of the saddle and to get round the novice so I’m happy. ☺️

Video of the novice

She looks very capable BM

Another sick note here, m is a wee bit unlevel in front, hopefully just a stone bruise or similar! So no dressage for us tomorrow, in fact no riding at all and it's the nicest weather we've had in ages - typical
