Weekend plans!

She looks very capable BM

Another sick note here, m is a wee bit unlevel in front, hopefully just a stone bruise or similar! So no dressage for us tomorrow, in fact no riding at all and it's the nicest weather we've had in ages - typical
Oh Noooooo! more broken ponies :(

Darcy tried to give himself a holiday having sprung a bump on a foreleg after hooning around the field, but we have decided it's just a clonk and nothing more serious so it's back to work ;) he was VERY jolly today, it's weird having such a forward thinking horse again !

The behavourist didn't work the miracle I was hoping for, but there's been a definite improvement in handling Blue's feet. We've both been given our homework, so hopefully the improvement will continue.

I'm starting to expect the surprised comments about how nicely she moves, but it's still always nice! For a little brick shithouse, she does carry herself well.

Good lord, going eventing on your own is bl00dy hard work! Am nodding off already but still need to shower and unpack. Had such a good day though. Not the best day on paper as we stopped twice at fence 12 xc but I’m really pleased overall.

Parked at the bottom of a great big hill that I then had to go up and down 8 times on foot and 6 times mounted. That nearly did me in on it’s own! Everything was a bit full on and relentless, not helped as I hadn’t had chance to get Finnegan ready or walk either course before today. I also decided just before jumping that I needed front studs too as everyone was slipping. Eek.

Anyhow, it all worked out in the end - very nice dressage for 28, clear sj (amazing) and was in the lead going into xc. We couldn’t quite pull it off but actually v pleased that we got round the first half well and moving nicely, but lost rhythm and focus mid way through. Finished strongly though.

No pics as I was solo, and I looked awful in the sj pro ones!

I'm thinking / hoping our slight unlevelness is simple splint issue. M had 2 very similar size and shaped splints on the insides of both front legs. The one on the left has definitely changed shape and got smaller and flatter (or is still in the process of making changes)

Hopefully this will resolve itself quickly

Chilli and I went cross country for the first time in three years. She was amazingggg! We didn't jump anything crazy huge but it filled me with enough confidence to enter a hunter trial in a couple of weeks... I did have a decking going down a drop where she jumped down perfectly and I lost my balance...

Nice pics RO! She looks like she enjoyed herself.:D Congrats TFF.

We had a quiet weekend, did a recap in the school yesterday. After he had a couple of days off as whacked a leg playing silly buggers in the field, he came back a bit green but trying to Do Thinking all the same. Contact has gone a bit awol but he did some decent sideways bits and a reasonable effort at canter both ways.

and then some slightly speedy hacking today. He's a bold hack but hasn't got the memo about how it's supposed to be relaxing, or the one about walking up hills to build up muscle... still, no cantering up the road today so I'm calling it a win.

Wow well done FF!!
Thanks, no photos as DH forgot, pro tog got a few nice ones that he showed me before we left.
I said I'd never show again, last time was 17 yrs ago..... 🙄😱😂
I did however really enjoy popping round the whp jumps, particularly the intermediate class at 75/80, 1st time I've fired her at a course of bigger jumps!

Well done everyone, sounds like some successful and fun filled weekends! Best wishes to all those with broken ponies!

Headed off to do P12 today with Millie. Didn’t get a chance to run through it this week and I only learnt it this morning so was half expecting a sat nav failure on my part!

She was a bit spooky and tense, which seems to be our nemesis at the moment, but she did a nice test with just one minor mistake when she popped into canter when she shouldn’t have (I forgive enthusiastic mistakes!).
We got 66.66% which put us in 5th place. She got an 8 for her free walk, which I was delighted with as she stretches so nicely at home, but trying to get it in a test when she is tense is difficult!
It was the tension in canter that pulled us down and we had a few 6.5s there, but I came out with a huge grin on my face because I felt she gave me her best, despite being a bit spooky and unsure at times.
We’ll never be world beaters, she’s not built for dressage in the slightest and it doesn’t come naturally to her, but she does her best to humour me!
Apologies for the ridiculous grin in the last photo. Apparently I am the happiest dressage rider out there! Lol

2 days stewarding done! I had some awesome judges to play with - and I didn't need to break up any fights over the supremes - bonus! Some truly lovely horses and ponies came through my ring and some incredibly polite and happy competitors!

Now it's time for holiday!!!!

Good to hear about all the successful weekends. Worrying about all the sick notes, wishing all a speedy recovery.
I had great time at the races - £2 up (if I ignore the entrance fee) and some lovely horses in action.
Then new boy excelled himself. Behaved well in the group lesson yesterday, then loaded, travelled and went on the beach today like a pro. So proud of him.

We had two really great lessons with my coach, and it showed how far Henry has come even in the last month. On Saturday we were show jumping and I really wanted to work on landing on the correct lead. Currently he defaults to the right so we drilled down into his understanding of the canter aid (he gets it) and how straight he is coming into a fence (very straight!). It comes down to a lack of strength so i need to continue to build him up and look to do some more grid work. He has become very casual about show jumps now and was happily cantering into jumps set at about 1m with very little direction from me (intentionally, wanted to know how straight and what lead he would land on!) with confidence.

XC training yesterday and we exposed a few things, mainly jumping a show jump into water he didn't understand. He jumps into water fine though and after he realised what he needed to do he was fine about it! We also jumped our nemisis ditch that I ended up in at the end of last year and he hesitated but jumped it first go. In fact he jumped it the most confidently of all the horses int he group, including 3 horses who are all much more established horses. I think we can tick ditches off our list now along with water, he understands these questions. He was bold and brave over all the fences and we really got the feel of galloping and jumping together. Added bonus was he kept his head when a number of other horses lost their minds around him and while he got nervous never acted on that. He also handled watching polo players train without getting worked up even though they too made him nervous. He is really starting to shine!

Loving everyone's photos and videos, sounds like a busy and successful weekend!

Our SJ on Saturday was amazing!! Rocky was an absolute pro and I am so pleased with him! We had a really unlucky pole down in the 70, he lightly ratted it wit his front leg and it fell!
Not a bad thing though as this has happened before at 70s, he just doesn't put the effort in with the smaller ones so I think 80 + is better for us!
The 80 round had more fillers in but he flew round and really didn't look at them :D - we were one of the few clears! I played it safe in the jump off he had jumped so well in both classes I was beyond pleased with him, didn't cut any crazy corners but it still was quick, we came 3rd !! o_O
He did absolute wonders for my jumping confidence, looking to enter another 80 and 90 round sometime soon - I'm still smiling!

So a lovely weekend for us. OH and I helped at a ride yesterday manning a road which was a great day in the sunshine. It's really nice to give back to the sport, and so important.
Today we went xc schooling. I was very lucky that my friend was available to supervise although due to the rain no proper pictures!! I'm glad to say he was fab, completely different to the other day totally locked on and loving his job. We popped a couple of the 80 and then moved on to the 90 stuff. As we were schooling round the BE course it was a good test. I'm only doing the 80 this weekend so feeling happy about it.
