weekend plans

Ah TFF and Pippity, sounds great :D

We had a rather speedy hack this morning. Darcy hasn't been out for a hack for about a fortnight because his brains fell out when he had a few days off (damn work getting in the way ) so he bounded off down the drive with his back right up, feeling decidedly explosive. We're on the top of the valley so it's downhill all the way setting out, not ideal when the front end of your horse has vanished from sight and the lanes are really slippy o_O
Anyway after about half a mile he settled and his back stayed down the rest of the way. He's finally got the idea about walking up hills with his neck down which is Really Hard Work so by the time we got home he was a different horse, lol!

Homeward bound :

Well. Turns out if I have a long whip he goes on straight away....why didn't I think of this before 😅😅
Spent about half an hour walking closer, rewarding, backing up, walking closer then he started getting stroppy so just thought I would try with a long whip and he went straight on, straight line, no planting or anything. Came off then went back on again. So I have no excuse now to not go out...

Well done chippers x x x x

I haven't been outside all day, was baking then waiting in for furniture delivery and it started raining at lunchtime...

Well I hacked the big (well schooled!) horse out and got wet! Hoping for a better day with the ponies tomorrow.
Good luck to all competing, I hope the ground is holding up. We have local HT next w/e and will be supporting friends.

quiet weekend for us as my weekend girl is off on Holiday.

Blue’s qualified for the 1.10 national amateur second rounds next weekend so we’ve been flinging ourselves over some scary fences in preparation for that as it goes up to a height that’s a fair bit out of my comfort zone 😟

Raz was out at mid-week BD the other day and produced two solid-enough tests for 1st and 2nd respectively. He has a lesson this afternoon so will be interesting to see if R sees any Improvement.

Good luck to all out competing ☺️

Annoyingly the weather actually seems ok today but we’ve already rescheduled plans instead of doing the south ox ride. Flipping weather forecast. Right up to late yesterday evening it said rain, now it’s changed it’s mind and tells me it’s sunny today grrrrrrrr,

Ah you see, Bernster, you should've come to play at silly killing games yesterday instead. We had a right laugh. Literally couldn't get a more classic HHO group for archery with dafthoss and jesstickle in there ;) The poor coach probably needs some therapy to recover!

Just as well it was a cheery group because I was incapable of hitting anything very much. Cheery Mr Coach had lots of excuses reasons for this - targets on odd angles / distances, you can't judge odd angles until you've had some experience of judging them (and, by definition, getting it wrong) and stuff like that. I think I was just being useless. But actually, having a useless day and still enjoying it and learning stuff and not ending up in a miserable, self-destructive mess is actually a really good outcome for me. I will always have bad days, being somewhat human, and extremely flawed, in nature, so being able to get through them without a breakdown is pretty much a win (and a testament to the patience of the aforementioned coach!).

And we didn't get wet :D

First time I’ve ever been miffed at it being a nice day! Archery sounds brill.

I'd say "next time", but I have no idea how I'm going to run another up there. Know any big fields in the general Essex-Herts area I can nick?

Dont talk to me about weather! Yesterday was supposed to be rain all day yet most of the day was quite pleasant.

Today, metoffice is telling me that it is sunny now and will be for the rest of the day yet it is grey, wet, dreary and has been all morning! It's all lies lol

Brilliant so pleased it worked for you!

Love the new horse AE, they look great together!
Somewhat envious of everyone getting out and about as the weather here has been beautiful but I am still lame and Rose is away but she will come back to a lovely clean stable with a new bed. Fingers crossed I shall be back in the saddle after next weekend!

Rooni had a quick hack yesterday and then an arena hire with dressage boards today. Very pleased with how he is looking :)

Fig had a short session Friday AM and then schooled today (and gave my friend a lovely feel too), he's feeling much happier in his feet now :)

Love them both!

Our first round of show jumping was fab, clear and close to time to score 4th. Our second round was going even better, Henry felt fantastic until jump 7, with the only filler on course which he stopped at and I fell off. So disappointed in myself but really we all have good days and bad days. At least I know he still needs a look at some things and that I need to be extra positive in similar situations. More homework needed with fill it seems but hopefully he will be more confident next time after more practice at home.

After a seriously bad journey up meaning we arrived 4 1/2 hours late on the Friday missing our briefing, Dragon delivered a cracking if tough ride on the Saturday.
We rode bits on our own including into and out of the on course vet gate but Tamba was a star. We hooked up with some race riders for the last 20k, which was nice as he had been getting bored on his own, so he lifted on the return to the venue
Heart rate of 53, so higher than I would like, but sound and happy and cantered over on Sunday morning when I collected him from his overnight stay.
Apparently he won a trophy for best under 14h pony, which I need to collect from a friend.
That's our endurance season over, dressage and jumping for a bit now which will be a nice change.
