Weekend plans ?

I had a lesson yesterday and have another one on Sunday. Daisy is now out for the winter and happy as larry and I assume Amber is coming on nicely, she seems happy enough. I've got to make the most of it as next month the trainers are off to Australia to teach so nothing more happening until the new year. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to cope, I'm booking up for horse lectures etc where I can find them to keep my fix going as much as possible.

Happy Anniverary MP, can't believe it's a year! Where does the time go?
Asha, I love the foals
AE, if you can get Jenny to South Worcs I have plenty of room and still far too much grass
Can't remember who's going to camp with Ros Canter and Caroline Moore but a friend had a less with Caroline yesterday and said she was brilliant and then invited me to a demo they were doing at Hartpury last night but I didn't pick up her text in time so I missed it!
My good news is that the physio has said I am ok to ride from next week so I am fetching Rose home tomorrow morning. She's having her back done on Tuesday but I'll ride on Monday and give her Sunday off as she has been working hard and going very well for the trainer. I won't have ridden for five weeks so I'm hoping I can remember what to do! The team I competed in for Quest are in the regional final on Sunday so I'm going along to support, fingers crossed that they do well.
Have a lovely weekend and try to dodge the rain!

Just a fun, chilled out hack today. L isn't too keen on hacking out alone, so I have to work on building her confidence. Random kangaroos, surprise cyclists and snakes/lizards aren't her favourites at the moment :p

Sadly I don't have anyone else to come and keep us company. She did very well today and was nice and forward, she's slowly getting braver! :)

(No, sadly it didn't rain :( )

Hope you enjoy Edinburgh DB! Weather is pretty rubbish at the moment!
Asha your wee one is just stunning! Such a pretty head!
And good luck to everyone who is managing to get out and about!
Nice couple of days off for me, went to see We Will Rock You last night, which was amazing and off to meet gran, aunt and cousin for lunch today. Been sorting things out at the yard this week which feels very satisfying!

Back into work for M is going well, had to ride in the arena thurs and fri as the roads are too busy in the early evenings so not ideal but we did lots of sweeping turns and larger circles to get him started.

I'm off work now for the week which means I can hack out during the day.

Dentist for the two big horses on monday and will probs give M a clip at some point early next week as he was a bit clammy even after a 20 min walk session.
Alhough he's filthy so hot towelling may be required!

I didn’t leave enough time to warm up today and 10-minutes was just not enough for Millie at all. She clocked some white boards that aren’t normally there at the side of the arena and that just triggered the welsh-idiot switch.
She was spooky and not listening for the majority. Whereas most horses realise something spooky isn’t going to kill them once they’ve been past it, Millie decides that absolutely nothing in the surrounding area is to be trusted and she just loses her head. I piloted her round best I could but canter was a bit frantic and then she had a spook at the gallery and broke into trot. She even slammed the anchors one at one point because she decided that it was too dangerous to proceed. Let’s just say it was one of those tests that you can’t wait to finish and get out! It’s so frustrating because she is ready to step up to Novice ability wise, but her brain really lets her down at times and it’s hard enough navigating her round a prelim when she gets like this, let alone a Novice. Frustrating, really, but that’s just Millie for you!
Didn’t hang around for our sheet, I’ll collect it in the week.

Boggle jumped around Larkhill HT today with his sharer, hasn’t seen an XC fence since May but popped around with a grin on his face as ever. Slightly frustrating there was a blatant mistake with the timings saying he was well over a minute over the optimum time, our videos clearly show otherwise plus the fact he was flying and maybe too fast if anything! Hey ho, nice run and very happy rider!

Watching him made me remember what an absolute legend of a horse he is, feel like I’m somewhat taking him for granted when I am not doing this myself.. but I’ll take him hunting next week to make up for it!

We have our D&H second rounds tomorrow. Blue feels fab at the moment - he pinged round in our lesson on Wednesday so hopefully we’ll feel lovely and confident when we walk the course tomorrow. 🤞🏻

Rio got the okay to come back into work after 3 months off yesterday 🙌
He’s starting to look like a proper horse and not a weedy 6yo so I’m excited to see how he feels when I’m back on board. Need to get his saddle sorted first though.

hope everyone has a good weekend 🙂

Got an utter soaking today out doing stressage and its been a while since I have done a long arena, which led to some slightly odd shapes. Still 64.5% and a nice red frilly for our soaking so pleased we went out! Still trying to dry everything out.

Hope everyone elses weekends are going well. :)

That's impressive flooding SK!
I'm loving all the photos and reports this week, well done everyone :).

We hacked yesterday and accidentally ended up on the route of the Gower 50k ultra marathon (oops) and helped a lot of semi-lost runners who didn't seem very pleased about their route.
Hacking again today. M desperately needs a clip but her MW rug needs replacing - would I be mean to do a full clip and then turn her out in a LW/no fill for a week or so? She's fat so has plenty of warmth stores...

We had good progress this Albert is sound (touch wood) and we got a great medium trot in our lesson.

I let pony club clip him yesterday. They did a fabulous job, although I did his head because I’m a bit precious about his eye!

Toby hacked out on Friday on his own, and was very jolly. My attempt at a walk/trot hack failed.

We worked on baby half pass in our flat lesson and jumped a small spread (no more than 65cm) at the end of our lesson today. We are getting there!83CA8370-D3E1-4733-B0EE-BAAAF2ABF4FD.jpeg

Sulking too...all set to go on Sunday to an amble and my box wouldn't start (rolls eyes...) to be fair it hasn't moved in almost two months so I shouldn't be surprised really. I didn't have time to jump start it and still get there on time and didn't want to be fiddling around the engine in the rain so once it stops I will get my car in and give it a jump. Wish I had tried it on Saturday but you can never predict these things can you!!

Lol MP - well done, hope you had a lovely night away :)

Oh dear chippers :(

Well we didn't get the forecast weather, in that the rain kept going until 3pm, so the ponies got a quick hack once the rain went over....

Must put up a pic.

I've a RC gridwork lesson this evening, and dressage training for RC area champs on Wednesday, F and Daisy have a WH lesson tomorrow evening and a one to one on Thursday after school (he's learning the basics of getting Daisy on the bit).

Fiona

Ironically, given that our forecast was appalling all day, I barely got wet at all yesterday, including hacking and shooting in my field and all sorts. I feel a little like I stole Fiona's forecast break in the rain!
