Weekend plans :)

Pau exceeded our expectations. Alright, no beautiful backdrop as with Burghley but 6.4km of great tracks and jumps, with the last 3 fences in the main arena.
The shopping, eating and music village was bigger than I've seen elsewhere in France too.
The weather was 29° and the Brits, Aussies and Kiwis had the 1st nine places at the end of the day! Well done them.

We went to the nervous and novice showjumping which was billed as "mostly 60cm with some at 80cm" and when I walked the course they were all 80 😅 so as I was last to go they asked if I wanted any changing because I said I was nervous and I only asked for 3 out of the 8 to be lowered so I think that's pretty good going considering I haven't really jumped since June and had completely lost my nerve.
It wasn't the most fluid round but we didn't even have a stop! Just one pole which put us 5th. What a good boy :) onwards and upwards, hoping to get to full 80s soon.

Change of plan sent us to Chill's owner's yard for a jump. She was fantastic! I can't believe how well she behaved and went since we haven't jumped show jumps away from home in well over 2 years. Feeling a lot more prepared for next weekend now. Well, provided it isn't cancelled of course.

I wish I could ride every day with this view!

We jumped 1m5 in the end (that's what it said on the wings, anyway!) and I'd say that's definitely at my comfort zone of what I can see a stride for/ride. I know I need to improve the canter too. Hoping to have some jumping lessons over the winter...

She also saw Bob, who was her bestie, for the first time in 3.5 years. They sniffed and nibbled each other's necks for a few minutes before Chill decided she was offended for some reason and scared him off with a squeal

Congratulations catembi :) and chippers....

Gorgeous pics wheels and RO...… You definitely enjoyed the good weather. Downhill wheels???

Very jealous of our down under members spring time too :)

F and Daisy jumped a double clear at 70cm in their team jumping competition on Saturday, the team was only 4th, but they are by far the youngest team, and not really used to going against the clock.

I chickened out of going anywhere on Sunday (I was knackered, and we hadn't been to church for weeks) so we went to church, and then had a lovely hack in the sunshine, and I slept on the sofa for a while while D and F carved a pumpkin :)

Not far away at castlerock :)

Your Sunday sounds lovely and relaxed!! Nice sometimes just to have a chill out day.

First morning riding before work for me today - I change my normal hours once the clocks go back so i go in to work later and at least have a bit of daylight! It was a beautiful morning and I watched the sunrise from horseback! Our first day of schooling since M started work again - we took it pretty easy but he was still tired by the end. Will continue working on fitness and I'm gonna have to clip again at the weekend I think as we continue to up the workload (everything crossed he stays sound)

Lovely.... Are the summer restrictions off at this time of year??

Fionn is getting fluffy too, and he was only clipped three weeks ago.

Rooni did his first competition. He was SUCH a good boy I’m very proud of him. I had to put my hand up and retire in first test as they started loading the walker behind the arena. The noise over whelmed him and he lost the plot. He did relax straight into the walk again after I calmed him but thought he deserved a better first score on his record. He was like a different horse for the second test and otherwise immaculately behaved.

Had a quick spin on Fig who feels great despite being rather round and rather hairy! I do adore the very bones of this horse...

I have booked Rooni into his next competition. Sharing the footage with trusted friends and my trainer they’ve all said it’s the ring exposure he needs and I’m over the moon with him currently.

Lol yes but not many other options

I park on the street directly behind the houses so not to take spaces away from the cars. You can park on the beach but I prefer to stay on the road

Darcy and I survived ROR clinic yesterday :D
First trip out in the dark and first group session. We had a minor mishap in the lorry park which was entirely not his fault but resulted in me still picking the gravel out of my palms this morning  Ouch :( but he was an absolute star in the clinic. Walked down the dark alley to the arena boldly and other than being a bit fresh when I got on he settled into some really good work, sharing the arena with 3 others. I'm starting to look forward to the next few months with him now, I am sure we're going to have some more wobbles but so long as he keeps trying like this it will be fine. It has felt like slow progress but I have to keep reminding myself we're only 4 months in!

bit wide eyed in the dark o_O

thanks Wheels, he's got a shockingly bad bib clip at the moment because I'm too chicken to take a lot off at once in case it induces silly-wheelies and I'm refusing to get the big clippers out for such a tiny area :p
I've promised myself THIS is the year I'm getting cordless clippers and then that will solve the problem :p

I'm gonna have to clip M again at the weekend - I dont think I'd get very far without the big clippers he's so blinking hairy
