What's everyone up to?
Feels like proper winter now, it's so dark and cold, boo.

This is the first year for AGES that I'm not going to the BD convention so I'm hoping some HHOers will be going and taking notes :) please do a thread, if you are!

Instead I'm off to the ROR showcase at Hartpury on Saturday and then taking Darcy to another show on Sunday.

More walkies for Kira, we are now doing short walks in the arena and I'm allowed to start riding her so will probably do that on the weekend. She's full of beans :D

Have fun all :)

Sounds like a super weekend MP :)

Hopefully hacking if the weather holds although Saturday is meant to be awful so I may do some bits in the arena either on him or off him.

No other plans.... next weekend we have things on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but will wait for next weeks post for those! :D

I actually have something worth mentioning this weekend. I have two lessons with two 5*/Olympic event riders on my two horses.
Saturday is SJ and simulated XC with Coral Keen and Sunday we're off to Rectory Farm for SJ lessons with Jonty Evans. Really looking forward to it all. Just hope the weather is kind and the route up to Glous doesn't give us too much bother because of the road closures.

On Saturday we have the final of F's winter Junior league SJ. He has really enjoyed it... Its so low key and fun, but they get to go against the clock. Its proper dress so we will get some nice pics :)

On Sunday, I am very excited to announce that we are going to Wicklow to view a new pony for Fergus :) :) Can't wait.... Its a long term loan, has amazing flatwork/show results, but not done much jumping, so we are hoping it will be good experience for F.

It sounds as though there are lots of exciting plans - have fun and keep safe whatever you are up to!

I've not done much with Cassie over the past week as we had visitors over the weekend, and I'm fast running out of motivation to do anything - partly I think because the Area Festival qualifying season has changed and I don't have scores to go out and get at the moment. So it was good to have booked a lesson in for this morning - we mainly worked on suppling exercises and lateral work, including leg yielding on four tracks down the centre line which really makes sure I ride both sides of her - sometimes I do let the wall do some of the work. ;) Off to the BD convention for the weekend and then Cassie has her regular equine body worker appointment on Monday. Obligatory photo of madam posing after our lesson just because she's pretty.....

I'm having a lesson on Saturday. Its time I did some proper schooling and there is zero chance of me doing that without someone shouting at me, so Saturday is lesson day. But thats about it for me. I will be hastily working the pony tomorrow afternoon in preparation, and Sunday will be road work or sitting at home sobbing about how rubbish I am. Could go either way!

Hacking, getting muddy, reflecting on the dismality of winter, trying not to freeze, trying not to hit the deck when Fergs decides the pheasants are out to get him and shoots off in the other direction while I'm standing up... I mean, I'm complaining about it all, but it's quite a good laugh, if you enjoy a bit of peril!

Hope folks have a good one, whatever their plans :)

Blue had her hock injections yesterday, so she's tucked up in her stable with a huge fluffy bed today and tomorrow. (She probably doesn't deserve it after sending the vet flying, but I spoil her.) She's getting half a day of turnout on Saturday and, if she behaves, back to normal turnout for the rest of the week.

I'm booked in for a rider physio session on Saturday, because it's about time I did something about my own wonkiness if I'm going to help Blue with her wonkiness. There's a dismounted assessment, followed by a mounted assessment on a riding simulator. You then get a treatment session, and a guide to exercises to carry on with on your own. Fingers crossed I don't turn out to be quite as wonky as my horse...

Ooh Pippity that sounds fascinating! Where are you going for it? I think you’re not a million miles away from me...

I’m working this weekend so shall be playing ponies tomorrow morning instead. No set plans - will see what we’re in the mood for!

This one's at Carrington, but the physio seems to run clinics most weekends, varying between Carrington, Croft Top and Jigsaw MEPT - wherever's got a riding simulator! She's EquiFit Physio - ACPAT Chartered Physiotherapist on Facebook.

We'll be having a quiet weekend, it's quite hot so any riding will be done early. 39C yesterday, a more bearable 34 today. Hate the heat but love the longer daylight! Hoping desperately for some rain on the forecast, sadly all we have today is dust haze from the inland deserts and dry grass :(

Hope everyone has a great weekend :) Stay warm and dry!

A whole day of TREC on Sunday.

The morning is a coaching session, then lunch laid on for us by the organiser, then competition in the afternoon.

It's an early start, I need to be at the yard here in town for about 07h00 and then we load the lorry with four horses and drive down to the venue about an hour and a quarter away.

I'll take my camera with me, this time, and see if I can get some nice shots of our team's horses.

We are on a quiet one on the competing front now that the showing season is over and the BD Associate Championships are done so hopefully off to see Altior v Cyrname at Ascot races tomorrow. My horse and Altior have very similar heads (bay with interesting shaped white patch) - no seriously they are more similar than that particularly if mine is rocking the grackle look. If I knew how to post photos I would!

Wow - great day out :)

Vaguely waving polish hopefully at a pair of semi-decent boots prior to a competition on Tuesday. I'd be polishing a horse as well, but the comp is on hirelings so that joy will have to wait until I find out who I'm paired with.

I love reading this - we all get up to such a range of things with our horses!

This weekend for me is some thera'poo'tic poo picking, getting my electric fencing up in the new field as it's only a matter of time before the novelty wears off for Wynny and just spending time with them both.

Will probably see how Sky goes in the school Saturday and hack out Sunday - was quite a struggle getting him out the field last weekend as I expect after a week seperated he'll do all in his power to make sure they don't get split up again! I'm hoping he'll soon realise that I don't ever plan on seperating them for any length of time again!

Junior SJ league final this afternoon, Daisy and F did an immaculate 70cm fast DC, and were 6th individually.

The team were 4th today, and SECOND in the overall league.

Very proud of them...

I didn't even get to ride as it was so wet this morning.

Getting up early to ride before breakfast tomorrow, then off to see a pony...

Turns out my weekend activities involved being bogged off with while chased by an out of control dog. Grrr. Jumping lesson tomorrow so lets hope for a less exciting experience.

Well Darcy has another show under his belt :)
Boxed off at 6.30am in the mist and dark, ewwwww, I have been able to escape early show mornings for a couple of years! ;)
Arrived at the venue a bit eyes on stalks, it was dressage and combined training so there was plenty to look at. Anyway he obliged by standing tied up long enough for me to yank my white breeches on and get his tack on, and then we headed off to the warm up.
It was busy and there was loads to look at but he tootled around sweetly and did everything he was asked. Off to the test arena and was much less green than last time, he managed to show the judge some of his actual training :p A nice scoresheet for a second outing including a 9 for his free walk  Very pleased with his attitude.

Planning another trip out to a different place next week since we're on a roll now. I had toyed with the idea of doing 2 tests but I think it's still worth just having a very short day at the moment as he's learning plenty with just the one test.

Bouncing hacking happened yesterday, trying to motivate myself away from the fire to go jump school the bonkers grey one but it's too warm and cozy here and too wet and muddy out there!
