Another Thursday :)

What's everyone got planned?

We have a couple of dressage tests planned for Sunday but I was up all night with chills and aches so will depend on whether that turns into full on lurgy or not

Taking Kira for a lesson on Wednesday, SOOOOO excited to be getting back to normal now, hopefully.

Have fun all and hope the flipping snow bogs off ;)

Absolutely bugger all planned here, forecast is rubbish at present.
Might be lucky (!) to get a quick snorkel out this afternoon before fuzzy tea time.
Will be on standby to ride over the weekend, sluicing wet stuff permitting! Its supposed to be fun....... ?

Hope you feel better to get out stressaging MP and good luck to anyone else competing :)

Little one is doing an arena hire tomorrow.

Big one needs to go Xc schooling ahead of his first event of the season next week (assuming it runs, hasn’t cancelled yet), except there is no proper Xc course open to school! So he is booked in at Wickstead as a poor substitute ?

No real plans, just joining in because I can :D

Weather isn't too bad here. I have a lesson tonight, rescheduled from last weekend - we'd been aiming for Sunday, but she has a cancellation tonight so that suits well.

Hopefully get newbie out for a hack over the weekend, he's done a fair bit in the school recently so it'll be nice to give him a change of scenery. Transport is not too far off either, fingers crossed we can get out to some low level unaff dressage soon.

There are a couple of nice events coming up locally - some "garden eventing" (a mix of SJ and event type fences) at the beginning of April. Horse is jumping really nicely, he is really level headed which is nice. OH hoping to get out to first EI events at some stage this season. Might need a few jump lessons first!!!

Last weekend I had

A a cut on my lip
B a 3 hour nosebleed because the littlest pony hit me with her head getting away from the biggest one who had tried to bite her
C a tooth abcess

All agonizing and I'm still on a cocktail of co-codamol, ibuprofen and antibiotics...

That said, we have pony jumping on Friday evening, a birthday party on Saturday, and an arena event on Sunday :)

Fingers crossed I am less incident prone this time....

Where is your first event?

Ouch Fiona!

Dolly is at Epworth for her first ODE of the season. Amber was meant to be at Stafford but that isn't running so she is also on the waiting list for Epworth with Harry. Hope it goes ahead.

Fracture clinic for me on Friday where I hope to get the all clear to start riding again.

Fingers crossed for you AE!!

Supercob is having a lesson without me again this afternoon (I'm at work). We might try for a hack early doors Saturday as later is once again 40+mph wind  I'm so over this now!
Sunday we have jump lesson locally, had the same instructor about a month ago and found it really helpful. I'd like if supercob could get the hang of just popping fences rather than giving everything a metre clearance and then I could get the hang of riding him in a nice rhythm to over and out of the fence but we can't have everything we want!
Of course that is subject to the weather being no worse than forecast as otherwise we may be swimming round fences!
Have fun folks it's great to see things taking shape for everyone

Another weekend of stressing about the poxy weather I think. Pony has his regular sports massage on Saturday morning, and I'm hoping to fit in a hack at some time if I can find a break in the weather. We've got our first dressage test and clear round jumping evenings coming up in the next month, first since PSSM diagnosis so I need to make sure he is getting plenty of miles under his belt no matter what the weather.
Had hoped to take the new horsebox out with my friend to go hacking somewhere a bit more exciting and to see how he copes with travelling, but once again, the winds have scuppered this...

I have a rare weekday lesson in about half an hour, just parked up at trainers yard ready to tack up. Sunday is the last chance to score points for the winter league and we need all the practise we can get now before the regionals and nationals so off to do BD prelim 17a and DI prelim 5 as long as the storms keep their distance :)

I can soooo relate with this - I've got one on a fittening programme - had so many lost days to stormy weather we seem to be 'stuck' on 60minutes walking and I really need to get the time up before putting in the trot sets - and there's only a few routes we can go on so we're getting a bit fed up.
Still - have discovered we are both hail-proof, and if you wear two exercise sheets it takes a strong gust of wind to lift them ;)

Fairly quiet weekend for me. Weather not looking brilliant but, having just returned from a week away, feel I need to do something to stop horse becoming too feral after his week off. Will probably lunge or have a light stretchy school on Saturday, then hack Sunday. One of the advantages of being retired is that I can get out to compete during the week, so planning to do our first Novice on Thursday next week. Very unprepared, haven't been out since last September, suffice to say I'm treating at as a training opportunity .
Hoping the weather isn't too vile and that everyone's weekend plans come to fruition.

L and I are off jumping this weekend :) Three rounds over the two days, just some low level fun. She loves jumping but hasn't done a whole heap of it due to the circumstances this summer. Hope to have a fun day, and managed to convince a friend to enter her very first baby rounds on her stock horse!

Also bringing E the TB back into work slowly after her SI injection. Hopped on her bareback for a wander up the road yesterday and she was great, just lumbered along so I hope that with some strengthening work and trails I can keep her issues at bay.

Have a great weekend all, hope it doesn't rain (snow?) too much (or just send the rain here again like a few weeks ago!).

ETA: Yesterday the emergency services officially declared our bushfire OUT!! Really brightened up the last few days of summer :D

Had a great lesson :)

Warmed up with lots of gear changes and a few transitions to get him really nice and forward. Then we ran through one of my tests for sunday which went well, I will be very happy if he goes like that at the competition.

Then we worked on some medium trots which are coming along nicely, he feels so much more balanced now. On to a few medium canters first on half a 20m circle and then down the long side. M got a little carried away and didnt want to come back to me so we added in a 10m circle at the end of the long side and this helped him to realise that it was better if he paid attention to my half halts!

We discussed an initial strategy for the summer shows. We need to put a bit of polish on the walk canter transitions inc simple changes and the 10m canter circles to the right but otherwise he is ready for elems. Summer league will start in early to mid may which gives me a bit of time to prep. I am to check the schedules and mix up between the novices and elems and choose the two tests that suit M the best rather than just going with novice. The hope is to qualify for both at the summer nationals. Exciting times ahead if all goes to plan :)

Dentist for him tomorrow so I’ll give him Saturday off. Sunday I’m not decided between inhand showing (indoors!) or a fitness drive (in the pouring rain...)

Lesson Saturday morning and then taking my trailer to get its 4 new tyres fitted as it's been abandoned for the past 6 months due to fracturing my leg - nearly choked on my drink when they told me how much it's going to cost! Hopefully Sunday is better weather so we can go for a hack :)

forcast awful again , so off to water treadmill again this weekend to keep up fitness , hoping this wheather gets better soon xxx still managing turnout every day all day and wroking him 5 days a week xx

Haha yes I agree on the double exercise sheets, we rode in storm Dennis like this and managed to stay covered and dry! I've got a calf length Euro Star coat which I also ride in for yet another layer of warmth, which also coveres a fair amount of the pony. Got to do what you've got to do!

We are in the yellow warning area too for both wind and rain - hope I can beat it on Saturday, and the arena for the lesson on Sunday is relatively sheltered. I can't keep hiding from it! Funnily enough, I'd rather hack in the rain than school in it, I don't object to working in it it's got to be done for fitness etc, I just feel it a bit pointless expecting them to work "well" in it.
We do 2 exercise sheets too, although our waterproof one still billows a bit. I've got my eyes open for a heavier weight waterproof one to kill 2 birds with one stone
