Here we are again, WPers :)

What's everyone got planned? storm swerving, corona-dodging...?

I'm taking Kira to a show :D We are off to do a freestyle, it made sense when I first came up with the idea but I'm not so sure now! She's always more sticky in trot than canter if it's going to be a bad day so our floorplan begins with all the canter work, that was the rationale. But now I am wondering whether she's going to get stage fright with the music if it's windy (and it's always flaming windy at the moment). Hey ho.

Darcy had a good lesson yesterday. He was trying to be nappy monster because the big doors on the school were clattering in the wind so he got acquainted with the schooling whip for the first time. He was pretty surprised about having a smacked bum but it did get the point across and then he got on with his work nicely ;) It's quite a milestone because he was too afraid of a long whip before but it will really help when he pushes against my leg. He's getting quite a good education now but when he gets a spook on he opts not to remember it  despite his nappy efforts he produced a trot with a bit of quality last night so it's starting to feel like we're achieving stuff now.

Pencilling in a show for him next Weds but we might not make it, trying to fit outings for 2 horses into the calendar around work is full on o_O

So happy to hear you are taking kira out! Good luck x

It's the regional championships on sunday, unfortunately the championship class is on before the warm up class but I will go down early to do a mounted arena walk which should help. My class is in the afternoon and I'm scribing in the morning for the first couple of hours - the venue is close enough for me to nip home and pick M rather than leaving him in the trailer all day.

Waiting to hear whether the nationals will be on in 3 weeks time as schools in Ireland will be closed from today for at least 2 weeks due to corona, irish government have advised sporting and other events with more than 100 people indoors or 500 people outdoors should be postponed or cancelled so will await info on that

Bold Heath Sunday for arena ODE/surface testing - who knows (but in a much wimpier class than Skylla and HP), and a rider straightness workshop Saturday afternoon - unmounted at Croft Top. So Saturday morning likely to involve doing jobs, maybe a hack or a blast on the lunge for supercob. And at some point I need to fit in writing a 2000 word essay/report for a uni thing before Tuesday. Currently procrastinating that

Ooh I have a busy weekend planned!!!

Lesson tomorrow at lunchtime, then heading out running with a friend.

Saturday we are going dressaging... originally had entered just the Prelim, but decided last night I might run through the Novice too.
I am laughing at myself a bit because a) I haven't ridden a proper dressage test in years and b) this will be new horse's first competition outing. But I thought I might as well give it a bash, I don't really mind about scores etc. No idea if I'll actually remember both tests!!! It is VERY low key though so I don't think the horse will be too bothered.

We might then head to some local SJ on Sunday, OH might pop around 80s. :)

MP, good luck with the freestyle
Wheels, good look with your regional comp and Hufflypuffly with your ODE. I hope the weather stays kind, it's blowing a gale here ATM. Also Rox and Sheep. Seems like people are having a busy weekend.
AE so pleased you are back on Amber, you are sounding confident and like your old self.
Rose and I are house bound, coming back from a lesson yesterday I suddenly found my little lorry very difficult to steer, pulling to left and almost impossible to turn right. I was so relieved to get home as the STOP light was on but fortunately we were close to home. We'd done some longish motorway trips Sunday/Monday so thank goodness it didn't happen then (although I do have good breakdown cover). Also got the saddler coming out on Tuesday as I'm not 100% sure it's OK.

Eek hope its something simple and cheap for the box oldie48, though with the saddle too sounds like an expensive weekend!

Super windy here to currently  really would like the wind to sod off to be honest it drives the horses scatty!

Fingers crossed for easy to resolve lorry and saddle checks oldie!
Good luck Sheep, have to say I am very happy with how straight forward BE tests are in comparison to BD. I'd like to have a bash at a Novice soon with supercob - the rubbish bits will still be rubbish but there is enough good to make up for it I think.
Hope you find a saddle you like and your lesson goes well AE

Cool, where are you doing dressage?

Nothing ? I dislocated my kneecap last week so I have another few weeks Of nothingness ahead of me!

Very jealous of everyone who is getting out and about!

Overtime at work this weekend, but hoping I can hop on both for some riding fun. More rain forecast tomorrow though :) Super happy the weather has finally realised we need moisture more often than every few months! Also naughtily inquired about a little gelding I found on FB, he's got a super SJ WB sire out of an eventing appaloosa/QH and looks a fun sort for a winter project. Shall see what comes of it!

Happy weekend all :)

Unlike the majority of the Scotland I won't be panic buying toilet roll. ;) Shops are mad just now.
One of my yard-mates is away for a long weekend so I'm on Uncle duties, looking after their lad while they're away. That leaves me to brave the wind, hills and rain twice as much.
It's all good though as Harry and I are booked up for a lesson with Douglas Duffin next Wednesday which I'm really looking forward to. Good luck to folk out and about this weekend. ? I'll look forward to the updates

Good luck everyone. Hoping that weather and the beervirus don’t scupper too many plans.
And that any issues are easy to fix.

I’m going to the BRC teams on Sunday. First time in a team and only his third test, so hoping just to survive (assuming it’s not too windy to get there!).

I have a lesson tonight, then tomorrow we are off XC training. It's set to rain all weekend here so I am excited about getting wet.

Sunday is show jumping with Coolie, his first outing of the year. Really looking forward to getting him out and about this year, hes a cool pony.

Have fun all, hope it's not too wet/cold/hot/dry/virus inducing :p

Good luck to those competing and I hope lorry/saddle fixes aren't too expensive!
Think i'm going to go to a local SJ comp on Sun, really need to get back up to 80s but confidence is maybe not quite there yet (although did some 85s in my lesson last weekend) so I think I will enter the 70 then see how he is and maybe enter the 80 after. I really should just force myself to do it!
Also having one of those weird weeks where i'm convinced Buzz has all sorts of problems, for no apparent reason, just have some sort of health anxiety with him. It's rubbish though as i'm worried all the time that I am breaking him  another mindset I need to get myself out of....

Ooops, how did you do that? I did mine in the summer doing some exercise to get a bit fitter, bad plan as 6 weeks of being able to do nothing didn't help fitness! However, mine healed well and is now no trouble and I am rather old and creaky. I had a good physio. Get well soon.

This weekend we are finally back between the dressage boards! Nothing high profile, just the monthly yard Riding Club 'Stressless Dressage' league. We're a couple of months behind everyone else but will be good to get a score to see what we're working with. Trot is feeling great, canter just needs a little more work to get back to where we were before PSSM came and took over my life. Good luck to everyone else competing, or to those just trying to avoid coronavirus

I caught it on a gate as I was riding through. I hadn’t quite opened it enough and got the bracket for the lever handle wedged in my knee ?

Blummin’ painful and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!

How did you do yours? Is it back to normal now?

yoooooouch!
That’s pretty much the noise I made when I did it ?

Magic used to be nervous of gates so I was trying really hard to be calm while working out what I should do!

I managed it on the front gate to the yard so luckily I wasn’t far from home! Someone was on the yard so got them to come help me through the gate a couple of times to make sure Magic wasn’t upset before very gingerly getting off.

Only equestrians would keep doing something before sorting themselves out ?

Ooof, that makes me feel a bit sick just thinking about it. Typical behaviour to finish the important stuff before dealing with a sideways knee though! Hope you have smooth quick healing
