Thank you! He’s definitely the best SJ horse I’ve ever owned (by a long way!). Anyone who follows me on Instagram knows I can’t shut up about how much I love him and how much fun we’ve had in the last 5 months! Im sure everyone here is sick of it too ?What a nice pop your horse has!
really good news. Did you ever get to the bottom of what caused the tie up?
Charlie never fully tied up, but, normal horses don't show muscle tremors after a bit of mollichop. Add to that a bit of difficulty cantering, ulcers, a tendency to bronk and dark pees, all pointed to some not rightness along those lines. I'm super cautious what he eats and try to keep him low sugar. I'm about to try some added protein from forage plus as he could do with a bit more since I took him off alfa (mallanders). He does get a single 2000iu dose of vitamin e, baileys balancer, pink mash, linseed and a bit of outshine. He despises being cold or wet so he's well rugged but he's not too difficult to manage. The hair test for PSSM came back negative, so I'm dithering about whether to go for a muscle biopsy or not. She's going to have more blood tests at the end of Jan and, depending on the enzyme levels in those, we'll see - if they're at all elevated, we'll get a muscle biopsy; if not, we'll put it down to me pushing her too hard when she wasn't really fit enough.
She's just getting Saracen Re-Leve at the moment, no additional vitamin E, and the only PSSM symptom she's showing is being sweaty when she got back from hacking - which could just as much be due to her being largely unclipped, unfit, and very excited to be out.

Its no wonder I struggled to sit on his canter for a long time is it ? I think that one is my favouriteLook at those knees! What a superstar![]()

Not much beats a bold, game cob for fun times ? very like him - even to the fact I suspect you have issues with boots staying up too looking at that picture ?
