Already been out for xc schooling/lesson with my boys on Wednesday - Simon pictured above and Isaac's video in the 5/6yos thread. Happy with them both, but especially Isaac as he was just having the best time.

I'm at Buckminster on S on Sunday in the novice. Forecast is 26 degrees which is a bit much for us, but we do need the run, so will probably just take it steady as prep for Gatcombe.

All change here- the dramatic ginger is going back to her owner after being here 5 years (came to me as an unbacked 3yr old), we've just reached the end of the road with what I want to achieve with her.
On my way back from dropping her off I pick up my homebred boy who has been in horsepital having a septic joint flushed. Cannot wait- I really, really miss my boy. He then commences 6 weeks of box rest so I've been and picked up a teeny tiny little buddy for him today. At some point I will loose jump the new TB and cuddle some foals.
And try not to expire in the heat.

Glad to hear your lovely young horse is coming home TM.

We had a good lesson today. Nothing earthshattering work-wise but a good attitude from kooky horse from start to finish, it's finally becoming quite enjoyable :D trainer was complimentary about how we were getting on. Flipping hot in the sun though... not sure i am ready for what's in the forecast o_O Day off tomorrow to bust my parents out of no-driving jail, both are getting cabin fever so we are having an afternoon Out Out. Then back to it!

Pleased at how relaxed he looks after work now.. this was yesterday. today was a sweaty mess :p

I have a wedding on Saturday and then my area festival on Sunday. I have a far more civilised time than blood magic though as not on till the afternoon. And can’t face getting there for 7am for the arena walk, so will just expect the spooks and collect my plaque. Someone has to be last right? :D

Sheesh, all this navigating the heat and the ground arggghhhg. I’ve got a sj clinic at 11 tomorrow, which is probably a very hot part of the day but as it’s a clinic we can pick/choose how much to do. Forecast says around 24 so hopefully not too horrid plus the venue is on top of a hill which tends to be a bit windy.

I was going to go (on foot) to the Hannah Francis ode at larkhill Sunday but it’s a long drive so I might just have a pony day at the yard instead.

Doing a hunter trial at Eland on sun, only doing the 50cm (sorry to those on the BE thread :D) because I want us to have a nice confident round and some of the 70 fences are a bit unnerving at the moment.
Luckily an early start so will be back home before it gets too hot.

Lesson yesterday for both horses. Sham is feeling really good and did a bit more work on the changes, less bucking which is good but still a lot to work on.
Belle was a bit stiff behind, I've had a feeling for the last month or so that she's got a niggle somewhere so vet will be coming out.
Was supposed to be doing the Hannah Francis ODE but that is now off the table until I get her sorted - at least it makes the decision to withdraw easier as didn't really want to run on the hard ground anyway.

Oof!! It's going to be a bit hot to do much with the black mare so I might clip her again to take off anything I can. I am going to try to work her at 5.00 am over the weekend as we have much to do at home and the 2 Arab x types won't mind hacking or schooling a bit in the heat. For her, it will be suppling work and walk to canter transitions (well, that is the plan).

Junior Arab x is coming back into work so he doesn't need a huge amount but I would like to remind him of some basics lol. He is incredibly laid back (as well as being 16.3) so can feel like quite hard work but he is very wonderful and nothing is ever too much trouble for him!! You ask, he tries his best :) :) He is OH's horse but I have the task of getting him back to full fitness over the summer. I am enjoying it hugely as I rarely ride a big horse (and don't want to keep one) and it is fun to see what we can do together. He is so horizontal it is frankly ridiculous and feels rather 'odd' after my spicy Welshy (all hair and attitude) and the hot, hot, hot arab x who is all speed, intensity and 'opinions'.

Senior Arab x has a plan to develop and emphasise (to him!) the importance of relaxation in his work. I have done a bit of long-lining and lunging so he can sort out a few things without me on board and ridden work is also heading in a better direction currently. He is 15 but has never let up from needing to be ridden correctly, thought about and, from me, ensuring that everything is 'just so'!! He is a perfectionist. In the Spring he had become ridiculously hot and sharp to ride after a break from work due to a sinus problem - vet investigations brought up nothing so because of his age and experience I am focussing on quiet, correct work in the hope that will help to settle his busy brain and bring some consistency to his person carrying job. He is a right clever wotsit too so needs plenty to think about but he doesn't really enjoy 'schooling' as such. So far, it is all looking good and really worthwhile so I might do some pole work with him. He is around 15 mile fit so I am quite happy not doing fitness work in the heat.

My friend is home a visit today so she’s wanting to come play with the ponies. I’m looking forward to seeing her ride Tali as she’s a much better rider than I am so will be good to see what she can do.
Dentist on Sunday. I’ve lost my horsey mojo a bit since losing Flo. It’s been pretty tough going over there twice a day and her not being there so I must start enjoying playing with the ponies again.

wind and rain forecast up north this weekend so no worry of a heatwave here. Have a good one everyone and take care in the sun.

I was meant to be at camp this weekend with my little pony, but didn’t think it was fair to have him back so close to him going away. So instead, I’m just going to lightly work Nova. We may tackle the big world of in hand trot poles!

It’s not particularly spooky as a venue. The only real downside is it’s a fair old trek up a pretty steep hill to the toilets ?

Not a lot in this heat!

We did have a fab outing earlier this week; I took him to the local country ride by myself. No-one else there when we got there, so we were truly alone. There was a lot of machinery to contend with and a water sprayer, he was great with it all - especially as it was very windy.

Then, we did some of the XC fences. In fact, on the way back up the hill, we did a long line of them!

Nothing nicer than a shared adventure with your horse.

I lifted some stills off a GoPro. Got off at one point so I could take a side view!

This weekend I have an arena hire at 11am on Sunday, apart from that I will be keeping out of the sun! Oh, apart from an open water swim early tomorrow, which should feel delicious!!!

YO hacked Amber out the last two days, so I might try the baby loop solo this evening. She'll probably have tomorrow off as the Stud has an open day, so I think I'll go over and watch that and see how Daisy and her foal are doing. Then I have a lesson on Sunday morning, we'll use the indoor, and I'll run the sprinklers in there beforehand so it will be as cool as I can make it. We've got our first show of the year the following weekend, so we need the practice.

Have been given permission to turn Felix out which I am sure is a great relief to Amber as he's annoying her with his endless attempts ot shew her tail, play with her. Hopefully the big wide world will divert him!
