Weekend Turnout times. Do you turn out the same time as weekdays

Mine's are at home, and although not technically "in" at night, they are in a small paddock with minimal grass (given hay ) and field shelter at night, and get turned out into a large field for grazing in the day. They go over to the field any time from 9-11 in winter, and get brought back at 5:30ish normally, but could be any time from 5-7pm. I don't stick to set routines. Then I don't need to stress if I get delayed for any reason. I know they are fine because they never have a strict routine. :)

Mine vary day to day. If I ride in the morning they may not go out until lunch time. They don't have a fixed bring in time either. They are used to waiting and don't expect things to be done on the dot. They are bedded on straw so always have something to eat. Neither have stable vices and both will wait for hours in a trailer or tied up. Very handy.

This is a 'don't get me started' question. Or at least it was. At our previous -very expensive- yard the horses went out anytime between 8 and 10 and came back in before 3 usually unless the grooms were on our side so to speak and they left them out as long as possible.

At the weekends all livery horses were confined to their stables. No idea why because the yard's own horses were all out enjoying themselves.

Needless to say that wouldn't do at all. Now our boy is out just after 7:30 and in before dark. Weekends I do like a short lie in so get down around 8-9. Horsey doesn't mind at all. He used to be in all weekend after all. In the summer the horses go out 24/7

BTW The Wife, I love your footer "Ride it like it's stolen"

Ours go out at about 6 during the week and about 8.30 at weekends. It doesn't seem to bother them, probably because the rest of the horses in the barn are the same.

I can't lie in bed knowing the horses are waiting to go out so at weekends I'm usually up at 7.30 and at the yard by 8. In the week, my friend turns them out at about 6.30, so they go out a little later, but not much. They're the first out both during the week and at the weekend.

The only other difference is they tend to get ridden first thing at the weekend, but in the week they go straight out and get ridden in the evenings after work. At weekends I turn the pony out with a friend's horse for company and put the big boys in the school for a roll (A is evil without his roll, but I don't want him getting muddy) and a run round while I muck out, they then get ridden and turned out for the rest of the day.

Just a general musing as we seem to be the only people that turn out at the same time 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Generally our horses are out at around 7.15-7.30am, with the last lot being turned out at 8 at the absolute latest (have to make several trips and fields are mile away).

We have a friend who's horses are out by 6.15am every weekday morning (she starts work early) yet often does not turn up to do them until 11ish in a morning at a weekend. She is actually one of quite a few people that I know who does this.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not berating anybody for their choice in how and when they turn out but we seem to be quite a rarity these days, in that I like my horses to be out early or at least in tune with their normal routine. I know none of mine would fret about it - I have seen them on the really bad awful days last year where they stood in, plus our evening bring in routine can vary by an hour or so and none will create out in the field if it is dark.

Again, not a criticism of how people do things, just wondering if we were alone in this!

We turnout later at weekend as we have a lie in - sat 9am sunday 8.am.
