Hopefully one of those links will work. Did a baby ODE at Munstead, 3rd event we’ve done and still lots to learn about doing 3 in one day! Glad we did the 60 as it meant I could deal with everything else without worrying about the height of the jumps.

Ended up 12th with 34 dressage, 4 sj and 20 xc. How we didn’t get eliminated or time faults I don’t know. I think they were being kind as he napped the whole way round the first part of the xc, with a bit of walking, wiggling and sideways Then did a beautiful 2nd half on the way home, the little ******!

Couldn’t have done it without my very supportive OH and my lovely friend who drove 90 mins to come growl at us along the xc route to get us going haha.

Thanks mp! I love how you keep sorting out my stupid pics. I really do try, honest, I checked the B.B. code list and everything

It sounds like a good weekend for many! RO and B_M, great to see Chilli and Henry are feeling better. Chilli looks stunning in those pics RO!

Well done on successful comps and outings MP, Bernster and SF. FF - where's the photo of the new wheels?!

I had a good last couple of days. I headed over to see the bay PREs who are heading over to England soon :D I couldn't get a good photo of my yearling, Enchilado (Chilli for short!) as he was too busy demanding cuddles. He's been roaming the countryside with the other yearlings for the last three months and has clearly missed human company! He's very lean so we're getting some more food into him ahead of his journey over:

Cuddle me!

My ex's stallion, Cantinero, is looking good. He's coming over for me to ride for a while, get him out competing and sell on at some point in the next 12 months:

And then I had a hack on my friend's new 4yo cob, who's just started her working life at her riding holiday company. She's definitely a sports cob, nicely forward and with a fab trot, Spanish-trained so very light to leg and hand. I really enjoyed her, although having only ridden Spanish horses for quite a long time now it was a shock to my hips and stomach muscles to ride something so wide with so much movement :D

Back to work today :(

For those asking to see pics of the bargain box here it (hopefully!) is...

Thank you jiffy! I agree she does look rather stunning when she's showing off.

I'd like to request that you drop the lovely Chilli off with me once he has grown up. Oh, and any other of your lovely horses. I die a little every time I see photos of them!

Very smart FF!!

RO - you can't have Chilli as it would be far too confusing for you to have two with the same name :D You can have Indio on those mornings when he's soaked himself in poo though?

Thanks guys! I'm still surprised we got it as cheaply as we did. Now just got to convince M the partition won't eat him and then we're away!

It’s Kissing Spine :(

One of my horses was diagnosed with mild KS. He went to the vet for an x-ray because he started sweating on his left shoulder below the wither. The vet hospital did not look at the shoulder but diagnosed mild KS he was given spinal injections. The sweating continued so we took him to another centre where they discovered the 'sweating' was caused by a fractured rib. We think he had an accident when away at another yard. His back was re-checked he still had mild ks and was given an infusion which I was told would prevent further deterioration and provide pain relief.

The vet recommended ridden work, long and low and canter in light seat. I also did quite a lot of research. This is the GOOD news. After 6 months he was cured the exercises strengthened his back muscles and this did the trick. His case was very mild and he continues to be a great little jumping horse. I hope you have a good solution for your horse - it is not always bad news. In France vets don't operate but provide anti-spasmodic and pain relieving injections and focus on physio.

Weekend plans, rolling fields ,spreading fertilizer... rolling fields ,spreading fertilizer. Should have been going to grassroots but A,s horse went lame. A broke collarbone , SNAFU

That’s good to hear, thank you. My vet has gone down the same route and we’re currently waiting for our first physio appointment. I’ve been reading up as much as I can so we’re prepared for when we get the okay to start work.

Before he was diagnosed we had planned on going right back to basics so this will give us the opportunity to start over with him. He’s a cracking wee horse so I’m hopeful that he will come back from this.

Sounds like some brilliant weekends for lots of people! Sorry to hear KS diagnosis, BM - but glad to hear he's feeling jolly in the field at least!

A disappointing weekend for us. Bowser was off to his first event of the season at Snowball farm on Saturday, where my friend & coach rode him in the 90.

His bad behaviour when out and about is becoming a bit too familiar. He was fine on arrival, but soon began throwing himself around when a lorry dared drive past. Not helped that another 7.5 lorry that was parked in front of us started rolling backwards down the hill towards us with the ramp down!! The owner had accidentally taken the handbrake off - they thankfully manged to stop it before it hit the trailer. Scary moment.

Anyway, they managed a really good dressage score of 31, considering how sharp and stressy he was. He always manages to fade and go a bit sluggy once he starts down that first CL. But some nice moments and a very decent score.

On to the SJ, which is on a surface at this venue. He was a bit pratty in the warm up but not too terrible. In the ring, they pulled off a brilliant clear round. He rubbed a few poles with his hind legs and put 2 strides between the 1 stride double... but they all stayed up and he didn't react at all to the caravan of lorries that left the venue immediately opposite the arena!

Onto XC, he warmed up ok and at last he was happy to stand still and just observe/take in the atmosphere. There was a slight delay which never helps, but finally they were off. Good exit from the start box and over the first. They were then out of sight until number 6. Then up the hill to 7, a haywain, and he slammed on the brakes. She circled and represented, he jumped this time if a bit sticky. Onto 8, a simple house with a ditch 2 or 3 strides after. He stopped again. They retired.

When friend got back, she explained that up until the haywain, he was wild. Not listening to her at all and trying to take over everything. He lost some power and puff going uphill to the haywain and stopped because it was quite wide. Then clocked the ditch after the house and bottled it.

Very disappointed as usually he is much more reliable XC, and there wasn't anything that he hasn't done before so it's upsetting that this happened. Even worse is that after SJ they were in contention for joint 2nd place!

He then continued to behave like a tool whilst we washed him off etc. All manners gone and trying to walk over me, still reacting badly to any and all noise. Put him back on the trailer and he threw himself around until we set off home.

Now considering packing it all in until he can go on 24/7 turnout, which might not be until end of May.

Any advice regarding very noise reactive horses gratefully received! Losing the will.

I would take on Indio any day of the week. A little bit jealous of all the gorgeous horses you get to ride...
