Weird question but recommend me a puppy!

Hope you're prepared for a lot of grooming. A friend used to breed and show these, poor little dogs spent all their life with their coat in curling papers. I imagine if not showing you could keep the coat shorter? Just to confuse the issue what about a bichon frise, similar to a maltese but less hair!

I'm planning on keeping the coat short, I wouldn't mind cutting it myself when it needed to be. We won't be getting one until July as we're going on holiday at the end of June so I have plenty of time to research and make sure it's definitely suitable for us.

So excited though!

Before you make any more plans you need to meet the breed. No good just going to see puppies or one at the park but meet adults. Ideally go to a championship show on toy day so you can see these and compare with others.
Why a Maltese not a Havanese? If you don't know you haven't done enough research.
The breed rescues are a good source of information rather than someone trying to sell something. http://www.themalteseclub.co.uk/home.html
If you want one in July it may already have been born as toy breeds are often kept till 12 weeks by the breeder. Most breeders have their puppies allocated pretty much at birth.

Don't buy one off Preloved etc.

My friend has a Maltese dog, spent a lot of time with her so that helped me to make my decision. I also know someone who has a Maltese puppy so I'm used to both and found them to be wonderful little things.

I did look at Havanese dogs but decided against them, for no real reason other than I'd gone for Maltese.

Trust me, I've looked through the options carefully and this isn't something myself or my family are going into lightly. We are planning to visit The Blue Cross in Burford to see the dogs there so all could still change :)
