Im getting the vet to check my horse for something else but will ask about this too, but just wondered in the meantime as appt not for a couple of days If anyone has ideas or I'm being paranoid?
When bitted the other day she was doing this weird thing sticking her tongue right out and doing massive yawns. She also had a lot of clear slime coming out one side of hher mouth, i switched to bitless and it stopped straight away. A couple of days later I rode in bitted bridle again and she didn't do the yawning/tongue thing but still a bit of foamy slime one side. I was at a x country clinic and she was really silly, head tossing and leaping about (she can be like this when excited/in season) but just the comblination is making me worried there is a problem. Any replies appreciated!

It may also be worth getting a bodyworker of some sort out to check she isn't tight around her poll/the back of her jaw. There is a muscle they cannot release themselves which they can try and do via yawning. The way my bodyworker would release it is grab the tongue and hold it :p

Interesting as my horse starts to yawn half way round on a hack (he is generally a very lazy, wo is me type) and has recently got a bit mouthy in a bit that he's been great in since i tried a few and found this one most suitable. His teeth are due October. Can you keep us posted OP?

^ the hyoid? definitely only something for a real pro to do as you can injure that area if it's done wrong.

Vet been, she had big ulcer at the back, teeth def needed doing. Vet also thinks she may have eaten something weird there was a lot of mud in her mouth!
The field they are in atm has a clay mud bank around the edge and they have been obsessed with climbing on it and eating some weird plant that grows there, I suspect that is the culprit
