The bloody weather obviously.I know I don't have anything as bad as flooding etc but just in general. The mud, rugs, filthy ponies. I went out just now to put her out and I am saturated...

Competing on grass is soon going to be a thing of the past and our home grown and mowed haylage none existant

Bought in hay and bedding and feed (as if it isnt already expensive enough) is going to be extortionate (SP?).

Sorry for this whiny post just had to bloody vent. Things are so hard atm....
Thanks for listening

I get terribly depressed with this weather

Who would have thought that we would be trudging through mud in August for the third year running?

My poor children have had another boring summer holiday - you just can't do anything when the weather is like this - it has rained consistently for the last 4 weeks
frown.gif

On a brighter note however, Metcheck tell me that next week will be dry - for Gods Sake make the most of it!!! We will be heading off to the beach and BBQ'ing as much as possible!

Ino Custards mum I thought that!! Where the hell is it coming from?? Casue surely since its raining ALL the time the sun cant evapourate any more??

Yup, me too, and I wouldn't mind, but to add to the autumn weather, we've got blooming laminitis rearing its ugly head because of the rich rainy grass!
Talk about the worst of both worlds!

T_S hence me turning Ellie pony out at this time!!! Aaaargh

LOL Ravenwood you have got it right QUICK get the mower on, lets go XC schooling and to the beach.

AND im going to Leeds Fest on sunday... Its going to be... muddy. Yikes, sadly Im not camping this year

I am hoping Metcheck have it right, I am on holiday from work next week:) We have had to postpone our RC show till september and I do hope it dries up before then!

We have had two local shows cancelled and the decathlon - the time and effort that has gone wasted is unbelieveable not to mention the money raised
frown.gif

Absolutely, the amount of volunteer time given for a cancelled show is unbelievable
frown.gif
Hopefully ours is only postponed, but there is nearly as much to do again to re-arrange it!

Absolutely, and finding judges again as the first approached people are often busy on the second date! People who have offered to steward may not be around for the revised date etc etc

God this country is really suffering - not just for us horsey people but all the tourism as well and in the southwest here that is really important.

Daughter and I are thinking of going to the States next year for 6 weeks or so - infact anywhere that has a dry climate!

LOL - someone told me the other day that we will have this weather for the next five years!!!

Shall we start a thread on how to kill ourselves painlessly?

re mental health - can you get SAD in August? I think I have it - just want to sit in, drink tea and watch Olympics.

They're saying its the wettest August in Ireland since records began - my own scientific data is based on the fact that the dogs' dishes in the yard have over an inch of rain in them nearly every day. Connemaras and ID s will soon evolve to have webbed feet.

I'll trade you. It hasn't rained in weeks. Pastures are dust and weeds. Hay and feed has doubled in price. It 98 degrees and 90% humidity. Can't get up early enough to avoid the heat.

YOU've got ours!

Have to say I think I prefer the rain and mud to that - I lived in Chicago years ago and remember the summers at 100+ degrees and living in an apartment with no air conditioning. At least here the grass is growing.

Sounds utter hell, and I am quite genuine when I say you have my sympathy and I will not mention my weather at all.

Of course, you could live in Nunavut in Canada, MINUS 5C and they had 13.5cm of snow today! That would really pee anyone off in mid August.

I'm totally fed up of it, my horses are waiting at the gate to come in, they are muddy, wet, rugged for god sake and I am totally p**d off with it.
Hopefully it will brighten up, it's normally nice for Burghley and that is not too far off. But I feel sorry for people with kids, they have had no summer to play outside and enjoy themselves...... Oh well folks chin up and hopefully we will have a nice dry September onwards.......

I do hope so.
I have had to start keeping mine in over night ( a month earlier than planned) and rugged during the day. Having said that I kept them in due to the wet this morning and now looking out of the office window there is this bright thing in the sky making it hard to see the computer screen

I am sooo fed up too...3 shows and two XC practices have been cancelled this "summer" and the hunter trial I'm going to is coming up fast! Please be hot next week lol......who knows we might have artificial weather in 100 years
