Desperate times!!

I don’t like a side buckle, prefer neoprene but not a deal breaker.
I’d rather keep it less than £150 simply because of how fast I break them.

Last ones were Aigle, first pair lasted about 6 months before splitting at the back where the sole meets the boot, they did replace them but the new ones have done the same.

Hunters, not tried in years but stopped using them because they didn’t last.

Chameau I seem to split at the ankle , I did blame driving for this so religiously change out of boots to drive but the last pair still deteriorated and after a while split at the ankle.

Currently wearing a pair of very old Chameau Giverney (I think) that I found in the shed from when my daughter was younger! They are ok at the moment but the trim around the top has all gone and they are looking very worse for wear.

Cheapo boots I find make my feet hurt, I pretty much wear them all day every day!
Any suggestions.

Skellerup Quattro I’m wearing currently! Bought them last year off of recommendations from sheep farmers on Facebook. Were about £80?
(Edited to add, I’ve had them for just over a year, and they are neoprene lined so keep my feet pretty toasty with just a pair of fluffy socks underneath)

so far so good! They’re not pretty, and are heavy but I love them!
Avoid Cotwold Compass. Killed them in about 4 weeks.

I'm very pleased with my pair of Rockfish Walkabouts. They do have buckle but are neoprene lined. I've tried lots of other brands which usually last me about 6 months but have been wearing these daily for about a year and all good so far.

All ones I’ve not tried so will certainly look them up. I did actually try on the Cotswold Compass boots yesterday but disliked them thank goodness!

I'm surprised your Aigles have broken so soon. My first pair lasted 9 years (they're still usable and I keep them at the farm as an emergency pair in case I have to call in on the way home from somewhere but they split across the toes where they bend - they're still waterproof for odd jobs thanks to the neoprene) and my second pair are in winter number 3 now. If they're breaking at the heel, could it be te way you're taking them off? I always use a boot pull - I ave one at home and one at the yard for swapping into riding boots which I think has helped avoid issues like that.

Used to buy Ariat and they lasted for years but when they were dying last spring I read in a thread on here that their quality had dropped and the price risen steeply.

I tend to look at my wellies over the summer and try and decide if they'll last another winter. If not I buy in the summer when prices of winter boots are cheaper.

This time I got a pair of Lakeland neoprene lined with side buckle from Amazon (I know but) for £75 over the summer. Going well 5 months on (and I drive in them as well) and have a good deep tread for slippery conditions.

NB tread is so deep they are not safe to ride in but that doesn't matter for me as I no longer ride.

Honestly they were awful! I loved them up until I started getting wet feet at 3 weeks in, but I figured that was because maybe I’d stood on some blackthorn. I was going to patch them up, but By week 4, the ankles had split and they were useless!

LOVE my Hoggs of Fife Braemar wellies. They are not neoprene and they do have a side buckle, but I find them so comfortable and robust and a great price to. However they do make neoprene wellies too (lot more money but still under £100): https://www.hoggs.co.uk/footwear/wellingtons/field-sport-neo-lined-wellington

I am not hard on wellies in the sense of wearing them hours everyday, but my last Braemars lasted something like 8 years and I am now on my second pair.

Dunlop here. I get about a year out of them (from just about constant use). I'm careful where I buy them from. One pair from a very cheap source said "Dunlop" on them but they were definitely lower quality, I think they were fake. I buy slightly big & use 2 pairs of socks & I find them as comfy as dearer ones (which I kill just as rapidly).

My Cotswold compass have just died after 3 years of heavy use? I’m debating about getting another pair but can’t quite decide! I will be following this thread with interest ?

My wellies never last but my percussion wellies seem really good, had them 6 months, I walk 2 miles a day to yard and back plus do horses in them, comfy, warm, can't fault them!! Can't remember cost, they were from mole valley, I tried on about 10 diff brands and they were by far most comfortable. Do have side buckle but I like it as have them at tightest which stops hay etc getting in ?

Muck Boots Artic Adventure - the best, warmest and most comfortable wellies I have ever had. I haven't had mine that long but someone else at the yard has had hers for over a year and walks the dog and drives in them as well as yard stuff and they look good as new

I have those, really warm. When they start leaking I fix them with stormseal and get another year from them.

Grubbs Frostline 5.0? As I think already mentioned above? Mine are fuchsia which is quite cheerful. I walk miles in them dog walking.

Leather lined chameau are on their 3rd winter. Everything else I’ve ever bought have lasted months. Very expensive about £300, luckily a present but already paid for themselves I’d say and still going very strongly!

Grubbs Frostline lasted approx 3 months for me last winter which was a shame.

Had two pairs of Dunlop since then but both split and hurt my feet.

Now onto Decathlon Solognac which were about £65 i think, only had them for a few weeks so far though so no idea about longevity
