Can any of you good people recommend me a decent pair of wellies to fit the following criteria:

Good for walking in.
Long ( ie to just below knee)
Wont' split within 3 months ( unlike my last 3 pairs)
Comfortable.

I don't mind paying for quality, but I am totally fed up with spending a reqasonable amount for wellies that only last me 3 months - surely its not that difficult !?!?

I have Hunters and have found them comfortable and long lasting. I'm on my 2nd pair in 5 years. The first pair lasted about 3.5 years.

I have walked miles in them too and they haven't rubbed or chafed.

IMO Hunters are worse than useless!!!!!!!!!! My last 3 pairs each lasted under a month. Don't buy Joules wellies either, I bought a pair that lasted a week.

Much as I loved them, I find I only get about 6 months out of hunters. I bought some Ariat wellies last time and they have been great so far (but I have ariat shaped feet - they may not suit everyone)

They are expensive but my Le Chameau wellies have lasted me for 6 yrs ( and still going strong) have been sooo comfortable and I don't need socks as they have neoprene lined and even in this last weeks horrid -10 freezing conditions my feet have been toast ! I wear them every day for at least 5 hrs per day. I work with horses and decent footwear is important.

im having the same problem, i had hunters but they wernt hunters there were huntress! and they lasted ages! about 5 years, but im not sure wether to get another pair or not, iv got a pair of woof wear long yard boots and got them at hoys in octobers and they already have a whole in them!! proper annoyed!!

Toggi! by far the best ive ever had/. ive had my current pair (Wanderer espirit - ones with a full zip down the side) for apporx 5yra now and they are still going stong. They are neoprene lined as well so keep my feet toasty warm
they arent cheap but are no where near as expensive as le chameau

I've had my Aigles for approx 4 years and they are brilliant. Never rubbed, moulded to my feet and can walk for miles in them. They do get a bit chilly though if I haven't got enough socks on in the winter!

I have Hunters and Ariat Mudbusters and love them both! I'm on my second pair of hunter in about 6 years and the only reason I'm on to a second pair is because they lost a fight with a pitch fork, otherwise I'm confident I'd still be on my first pair! However in this cold weather you just can not beat the Ariat Mudbusters in my opinion! They're the best thing that's ever happened to my feet

I'm looking at getting some Mudbusters too. Can those of you who have them tell me how they come up size wise? I'm normally a size 6 in shoes/boots but I know that some brands come up quite large. e.g I'm a 5 1/2 in Dubarries.

My OH has Le Chemeau and he's had a lot of probs with the neoprene lining coming away at the top and rolling inwards - also down by the heel it's rucked up.

I've had two pairs of Muck boots that both leaked and split within months, and after going through Hunters in months I wouldn't touch those either!

My best wellies to date are Le Chameau which are very comfy and Ariat Mudbusters, which are also comfy, but quite a firm feeling boot, bonus is you can ride in them too. Size wise I found they were spot on, I'm usually a size four and a four fits fine in these.

Thanks Touchstone - that's helpful for me!

Another vote for Ariat Mudbusters....fab, well worth the money....and they don't slip! At all! I was the only upright on our yard with all the recent snow/ice.

Plus you can ride in them too......

They do sound good - especially pleased to hear they have good grip as that always seems to be a problem with wellies!
