Welsh Dragon update!

Idris was 1 a few weeks ago. He is still completely bonkers, but I see the odd glimmer of hope that he is becoming a civilised member of society!

He had his first bath and blow dry, which went better than expected, and he got a big brother for his birthday - meet Wilfie!

They are very good friends already, and spend hours zooming round the garden and play-fighting, which suits me perfectly, as they run each other ragged, then crash out for hours!





Dont ask me what he is - greyhound x god knows what!

I have to admit I’ve never been a gundog fan but i absolutely love Welsh springers - lovely pictures

I’d say def a collie cross - and not necessarily greyhound - but rather stunning

Funny you should say that, as he looks exactly like a dachshund when hes lying down, than he gets up and unfurls his supermodel legs!

He's a lot easier than Idris! He has an off switch, unlike the baby dragon!

I'm thinking that even though the merle gene is not uncommon in Smooth Collies, there's not that many around. But I've always heard that the merle gene is a bit rare in both Border Collies, and Dachshunds, so even though I wouldn't be surprised if Wilfie is a cross involving either one of those three breeds, I want to add a 4th suggestion, maybe he's an Australian Shepherd crossed with Greyhound or something similar?

i'd put a large chunk of money on the new dog being collie/saluki/greyhound. you can see the saluki in his shape and the merle almost certainly came from a collie.

My first thought was saluki from the shape of the head and the expression on the face. They are both stunning.

He came from a private home, where the family were struggling a bit with 2 very small children, 2 cats and a high energy dog in a small house/garden. He's had a nice life, so he's very well adjusted, and he's got a really sweet personality, so despite the heavy duty play fighting, neither of them have had a hint of a cross word. Took me a while to get used to the fearsome growling/snarling when they're playing - but now I've cottoned on that it is simply play, I can just let them rip! He does have a tendency to grab Idris's ears and run - which results in the odd squeal, but to be fair, Idris grabs his hind legs all the time, to try and slow him down, so they're pretty much quits!
They spend a lot of time chewing the same ostrich bones/cow feet - one at each end!

I was gonna say saluki as well and that sausage dogs come in that colour but I had already pressed the button

i've seen that head/ear set on saluki crosses before, but its more the neck and tail.

My opinion on the head shape was based on these two, who were mine. A Saluki x and a Rough Collie, which is like a Smooth with hair.

Hoovering doesn't appeal this afternoon so instead I scanned Wilfie's sweet little face with Google lens. Please don't tell him we are amusing ourselves at his expense.
