I originally went to see a 14yr old 15.2hh cob x thoroughbred (1/4 cob x 3/4 tb) gelding. Was a lovely boy but a bit to 'fizzy' for me!

They also had a gorgeous 12yr old 16.3hh Chestnut Thoroughbred mare. From what they were saying she sounds perfect. Doesnt get 'mare-ish' at all. Very laid back even though there was another 9 horses going crazy and bombing around the field! She used to race but retired from racing due to an injury but this does not affect her now. Off to see her again on Tuesday and take her for a ride. Here's just a couple of pics i took of her (no ridden ones as they didnt take her tack down to the field the horses were in) What do you guys think? And sorry about massive pics, really dont have a clue how to resize!

Bless - she looks lovely, a nice kind eye....and chestnuts are my favourite (how did i end up with a roan!).... hope she rides well for you - I would check shes ok to be shod as no shoes in pic (unless you keeping her unshod?). Let us know how you get on!

She's fine to be shod. She's been out of work for the past year so they didnt get shoes put on her. They said they would sort all this out, if im still interested in her after tuesday, and get her shod before she comes to me.

Nice kind looking horse. I'd definitely be wanting a good reason for her being out of work for a year and I'd certainly have her vetted, particularly checking her front tendons.
Hope it all works out for you. She's a nice looking girl.

They have a riding school and just haven't had the time to exercise her. Not through illness or injury or anything like that. Just due to lack of time.

Aww, she looks a sweetheart! :D

But just as others have said, a 5* vetting (Maybe look at her hooves too, they look a tad cruumbly?) and all will hopefully be well :)

Her hooves, i will admit, are a bit on the dry side, the farrier had just got there as i was leaving to trim them. Will def sort out vetting though. Would you still have this done (vetting) if you are having one on loan? There is a possibility i would buy her down the line but for now just loaning.

She does look a very sweet girl, but I would want to have an opinion on those front legs from the vet TBH. I hope it works out for you!:)

Did she break down on one of her front legs? Her off fore tendon in particular looks bowed to me. Please get that looked at by a vet, she may not stand up to much work. She has a lovely kind expression though!

Agree that the off fore tendon does look rather dodgy. Would you be liable for vets bills if she had problems with it whilst you had her on loan? Also, if she hasn't been in work for over a year then you may find that once she is fitter she may not be quite so laid back as she is at the moment.

Yes she did. Think they said around 5-6 years ago, someone galloping her to fast on beach. Between then and last year she has been used for hacking, schooling and jumping, with no probs. But i will def get it looked at and get her checked out fully. Definately want to make sure everything is tickety boo before agreeing to anything!

They said she's always been very laid back for a tb. I'm used to a typical tb so even if that is the case, it wont put me off her.

She looks lovely but she actually looks quite fed up, maybe she just needs a bit of 1 to 1 tlc. She will be lovely when you get some muscle on her. There's nothing like a chestnutty mare :D

My only problem (outside of her being a chestnut TB mare! ;) ) is that I don't like the look of her front legs. It might just be the photos, but she looks like she's over at the knee and tied in at the knee. Do you know what her racing career ending injury was? My guess would be that it was a tendon, and therefore I wouldn't personally touch her with a barge pole unless all you want to do is a bit of hacking about. I don't mean to be harsh, and that is just my opinion!

I hope she turns out to be what you're looking for.
