Gawd, it's so quiet at this time of year the WP threads will bump into each other! :p

What are we all up to? Back to normality? ;)

Kira has a show tomorrow, M75 and A100. The forecast isn't too inspiring but hopefully the wild stormy stuff will have died down a bit(!) We will be in the drop/snaffle again because the cut she gave herself on her lower jaw is at that awkward nearly-healed stage but the scab could go before it's properly ready, so I'm hoping she's feeling good as can't put a cavesson noseband on so the double bridle remains on the hook :)

Will try and get Salty out somewhere again... she just needs to keep on going now, feels like we're on a roll and she's more grown up at home for the experience.

The weather really is miserable and I think I have a cold coming on :( Having avoided all the nasty bugs going around over Christmas I feel a bit poo today!! I'm going to struggle on regardless, I'm such a martyr ;)

I'm having a lunge lesson on Pocholo this evening - I'm struggling to keep my hands still in sitting trot so some position work is definitely needed! Then tomorrow I'm taking him to arena hire with a friend on her new horse, it's their first outing and Pocholo is supposed to be sensible... Saturday I'm away all day then a flatwork lesson on P on Sunday.

Indio has the vet this afternoon who will hopefully re-inject his fetlocks, so I'm assuming he'll have a few days off.
 
Summerhouse have their arenas set up for the regionals, so I have booked a 30 minute slot to introduce the giant to white boards, banners and flowers .... presuming they haven’t blown away :D

This is also me!! Been sneezing all morning at work, mojo levels dwindling!

Had my usual lesson last night, which was good. Lots of shoulder-in in the 1/4 & centre line. Hard work to keep it going, we were both very wobbly! Got some good steps, though. We've been neglecting the lateral stuff for a while whilst concentrating on other things (I'm determined to nail walk-canter and it's getting there!)

Will go for a quick spin tonight, probably do some stretchy & suppling work as yesterday was quite hard for B. Then he will go for a hack on Friday.

No plans yet for Saturday but doing a gridwork session at home on Sunday. Been doing lots of these and it's really helping! Last week one element was a one-stride double, second jump was about 95cm (coach said was 1m but not sure I believe her :D ) and it was no problem! *Proud of myself* although as it was bigger, I found it much harder to sit up & get my butt back in the saddle afterwards... still lots to work on!

Currently putting dates in the diary & scouring for a fun training camp to go to in the summer. If anyone could recommend any (I am South East so pref in this area!) that'd be grand :)

TXF it's really not like you to lose your mojo, hope it returns soon.

I am at a polework & SJ'ing clinic this weekend with DP. It will be his first ever clinic and I'm hoping he enjoys it as a change from hacking although we won't be doing the jumping bit. S is riding Bailey who is coming along for moral support as she wants to start jumping again.
 
We're starting out 2018 with our first elementary at riding club on Saturday. We've not had a lesson in over a month thanks to Christmas hols and Alfie blowing a massive abscess through his heel and our last competition last year garnered the comment "not good enough yet for Novice". I must be nuts but I want the picture of us doing our thing in a double bridle and it will really show me how far we have come together for a bumbling riding school idiot and her ex-trekking centre cart horse/first pony. I am sure I will cry with pride coming down the centre line at the end.
Plus we're guaranteed a blue rosette! there's only 2 entries and the other one is a former 2* eventer!
 
I've just checked the weather forecast and its looking dryer and less windy for this weekend down south so fingers crossed Storm Elenor doesnt change her mind!

Have a lesson Friday night to run through our tests for Sunday! Eek!

Arena hire Saturday to practice them in a full sized arena.

Sunday N39 & Ele53 - Not holding out much hope for the Ele but its no pressure and I just want to see how we cope and see how far away a decent score is :D I like to put us in the deep end every so often to give us something to think about!
 
The weather has been nuts! Was supposed to have a lesson this morning but I've postponed it until tomorrow and hired an indoor for a dry schooling session instead.

Not sure if M had been ridden indoors before so I led him around for a few mins before mounting. He took to it very well and was relaxed and calm throughout.

Lesson tomorrow with a new instructor so will report back after that.

Hack Saturday and I was going to go to an SJ training show on Sunday but the weather again looks like it might do me over with a -5 overnight and 0 to 1 degree during the day which means black ice so unless that forecast improves we will jump at home instead.

Had a jump lesson yesterday morning in the howling wind - with lots of distractions the ginger witch behaved impeccably if a little quick :) Off for a stressage lesson on Sunday with a new trainer - wish us luck we haven't had a flat lesson in months and the last (and only) dressage test we did apparently had rear spin fart and bog off at C as a move :D
 
Was supposed to go to the beach yesterday, but gale force winds and rain scuppered that sadly :( Though had a lovely morning today going for an outing to one of the forestry commission places with a friend! Too slippy to do much cantering, but managed to avoid the rain and was nice to get out and about somewhere! H behaved absolutely impeccably, which makes me very proud as on his first visit to this place a year or so ago he was so spooky and on edge, but today he was a totally different horse, totally relaxed and chilled out, happy to go in front or behind at any pace, completely unphased by runners, loose dogs, other horses, prams, flappy trees... :) unfortunately today is my last ride before I go back to uni and won't be able to ride for another 3/4 weeks or so :( but at least it was a good one to end on!
 
Not too exciting but clear round jumping. They're doing loads of different heights so going along to pop round 75, 80 and 90. Best bit is no show gear required.

Had a lesson tonight in gale force winds with kids in the other half of the arena chasing each other round on their ponies. I expected to get launched as soon as I got on, but after a few bucks and staring at the demon ponies, he settled down to some decent work.
Dressage clinic at the yard on Saturday morning with a trainer we have never had before (Jake Taylor), so going to have a nice child free day as daddy is taking them off to a sheep sale for the day - hooray!!!

I didn’t realise you were round here IHW :)

Flat lesson on Saturday and jump lesson on Sunday - both at home - for me & Jensen, cannot wait until the Landrover is mended and I can get out and about again!

My dressage comp on Sun has been cancelled so I booked son and myself onto a dressage clinic saturday instead. :)

We did one last year too and I took a lot away from it. Trouble is I don't have a school and time constraints prevent me from riding as much as I would like. Hopefully the weather may start improving and I can use the field. More daylight in the afternoon will be a bonus too.

I am officially in hiding and waiting for winter to be over... My horses are in hiding with me... We'll pop our heads out again come spring

Well I don't stay on here for long as working full time, but pop in for the odd 10 minutes, fed up with this rain and mud, and soggy horses. Normality has not changed in the last 3 weeks, just trying to keep going without the wind blowing everything to Timbuktu.

I think we've all been slogging through the mud and wind but whats nice about the weekend plans threads is hearing about people getting out and about to shows or clinics etc :) a break from all the day to day grind ;)
 
Ex racer is off to keysoe Saturday for the 85 clear round and then the British novice been working hard getting him more uphill or he jumps flat and has half them down so fingers crossed has improved
Other horse off to addington Sunday to jump a newcomers and 7 year olds which could be interesting x

Well most like just doing the yard and if the weather changes will go for a hack Saturday and Sunday, back still hurting from riding my mare last weekend, would love someone else on the yard who wants to go out and do things, and had more to report as it may give me back my mojo. Love hearing what others are doing makes me jealous though in one sense and reminds me when we had other livery horses who loved to go out, and also how much I miss my beloved mare who i could go out on. BUT! I am sure this mare will come good and new livery will arrive, I really need a KUTA really not too hard so it hurts :D

If I can add today, my jump trainer is coming to continue our jumping to improve the way my mare jumps strides - approach landing etc as my back can't take jumping 6ft over a 2 ft jump.:D, she is improving all the time,will really help me and her go out in the spring and do things.

Bit excited so just wanted to share...

Did my quick spin/stretchy session as planned last night. B felt in a lovely mood and happy to be working, so played a bit with the simple changes on a serpentine as not done any in a little while. He really understands it now and were really easy to ride. They felt SO easy I got curious and decided to see what would happen if I just asked for a flying change.

First and second time, got a shuffly trot step before the change like he knew what I was asking him to do but his body couldn't quite work out how, but the third time (when I rode a bit better!) he did it! A flying change on purpose! No, it wasn't perfect or totally clean, but he did it! He got all the pats and we left it there. So proud of him. I know it doesn't really count just yet but I've never ridden a proper flying change before, let alone teach a horse how to do it so I'm feeling really chuffed. Although this cold has hit me full force this morning so head is pounding and all bunged up, not dampening my mood too much though :)
 
Quiet one for us... will probably run through my tests for next weekend to make sure I know both inside out and then I might have another stab at starting changes with Beau depending on how stubborn he’s feeling.

So glad to have an indoor at home at the moment - the weather here has been horrendous.

Hope everyone has a productive weekend whatever you’re up to. :)
 
That's brilliant Embo :) feels good I'm sure

My lesson has been postponed until tomorrow afternoon as instructors school is frozen.

So we will go for a hack shortly instead :)
