That's what I like about this forum - so many of you have mentioned flat coated retrievers in your lists, whereas in RL most people have 'never heard of them!'

Mine are :

flatcoats (getting no. 2 soon!)
large Munsterlanders
working cockers
field spaniels
border collies
irish setters
hovawarts

Hmmmm, this is harder to come up with a short list
grin.gif

Greyhounds of course
Whippets
Deerhounds
Shaggy lurchers of any size (but not collie lurchers for some reason)
English Bull Terriers (nearly got one for my last dog, I adore them)
Hungarian Vizlas

Plus the gorgeous dog I keep seeing being walked around Ledbury - it is like a black and tan Pyrenean Mountain dog, and I have nearly screeched to a halt and offered it a new home on many occasions

Splotchy, is the black and tan dog one of these ?

Got to be lurchers obviously, but if I was forced to get a pedigree it would be an English Bull Terrier or one of the mini ones because they're ugly/cute. Love Welsh Foxhounds and quite partial to Otterhounds too, but anything shaggy and scruffy really.

Ooooh thanks for that MM, I have never heard of a tibetan mastiff before! I suspect the dog I see is actually a mongrel, as it is not quite as heavy in head as the mastiff pics - more like a retriever kind of head I suppose

I think the elderly gentleman who owns it might be a bit shocked if I did accost him one day

Only if its as perfect as our P, ie non yappy, non nippy, and very VERY cuddly. We knew both P's mum and dad before we took the plunge and put our names down for a pup.

Why do you ask

Will stick with my Aussie blokes!

Love huskys but realistic enough to realise they are not for me! Often sneak cuddles with my sisters, who being Huskys suffer it!!

Certain mongrels and collie crosses that I have had in the past!

...what breeds breeds do?

[/ QUOTE ]

Do I get any prize for the list with the most varied choice of breeds?

1 Finnish Lapphund!
2 Norwegian Buhund.
3 Tibetan Spaniel.
4 Västgötaspets (Swedish Vallhund).
5 Smooth Collie.
6 French Bulldog.
7 Saluki.
8 Lapponian Herder.
9 Doberman pinscher.
10 Bull Terrier.

Closest to get in on my list is probably Standard Poodle, followed by Norwegian Lundehund.

If this "What breeds do it for you"-list isn't only about breeds that you would consider owning, then I might have considered putting the beautiful Afghan Hound, Bloodhound (I'm fascinated by their scenting-capacity, but would prefer less wrinkles), Berger des Picard (only seen it in books, but I like the look) and Tibetan Mastiff (another one I like the look of) on my list.
