My friend and I set out on a lovely hack this morning in the sun shine. Her horse was for some reason on her toes more than usual to start with but as we got maybe a quarter of the way out, if that, she decided to plant herself. It didn't matter what my friend tried, she could not get her going, I even walked off with out them a little way but her horse didn't want to know. After persevering for a little while with no luck, the horse decided to rear up vertical and go over on top of my friend! She shouted that she was ok and the next thing I knew we were off! Her horse had bolted and mine being youngish and green of course was going with her! We were flat out along a side road going too fast to try and circle in such a small space, I thought about turning into someone's drive way but thought it would end badly! Luckily there was a bend before the main road and as my friends horse turned the bend, mine seemed to notice I was on board and slowed enough for me to the circle her and stop to jump off! I had my friend on the ground in one direction and her horse somewhere on the main road in the other! I decided that seeing as my friend had shouted she was ok, the best thing to do was to find the horse before it caused an accident. I got to the main road and saw a lady from the yard looking for us. She said the horse had ran straight home and was absolutely fine and then she drove to find my friend.
When I had jumped off tink there were a couple of people outside their houses who had witnessed the bolting horses, I did ask for help but the only one who was willing was a man in a wheelchair! No one else even responded! I know it was a situation that people without horse experience wouldn't want to get involved in but to not even respond was just rude.
After we were all back at the yard, the horses we fine and taken care of by the YO so I took my friend to the hospital for a check up, she is luckily just badly bruised!
What a morning!!!
Now to figure out what is up with my friends horse!
