Elf On A Shelf
...
That's Lance's season finished and what a season he has had! He started off at a local spring show where he won his mixed M&M class and stood Champion under a very, very well respected judge. We didn't stay for further Championships as I had a Grand National Party to attend 😁😁😂
Next we toddled off to Fife show to stand 3rd place in amongst a load of coloured cobs in proper coloured pony classes. He followed this up by winning his Stallion class at the Shetland Groups Spring Show beating some big winners in the process.
We strolled on to West Fife Show at the start of June to stand 2nd to the overall Champion, again beating a lot of big winners.
On a whim we made the last minute decision to head up to Kirriemuir Show ... in the pouring rain ... where once again Lance won his class and he then went on to stand Overall Shetland Champion and he picked up his Blair ticket.
I stupidly took him out again the next day under a judge that I kew wouldn't like him but he still gave him 1st (out of 1!) Which he strictly speaking didn't have to do.
2 weeks ago the stupid pony went and got himself stuck in a ditch! He had water almost up to his whithers and he was in the water for just over an hour before he managed to scramble out!
Then last Sunday we went to the Shetland Pony Breed Show where Lance stood 3rd behind 2 of England's biggest winners! Chuffed doesn't even begin to describe it! He also won the trophy for the best broken coloured pony at the show that day.
And then onto today - the Scottish NPS Finails at Blair! A class of 20 mixed small breeds. We were called in 4th to begin with behind 2 other Shetlands and a Welsh. Lance wasnt on his best behaviour doing a bit too much cantering on his go round but he stood for the judge and walked and trotted nicely back. We were all sent back out for a walk. I thought the steward had pointed at me but the blacknowledgement stallion just in front of me went in. Only to be sent back out again and for the Wee Coloured Job to be called in - he had WON! My wee multi coloured beasty had only gone and won! I couldn't believe it! I still can't! Multi coloured Shetlands don't stand a chance against blacks! Until Lance comes along and brears the mould 😁😁😁😁😁 nothing I'm the championship but I don't care! I went hoping to be placed. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would win the class!
Not bad for a pony my mother bought based on a dodgy picture from a sale she bid on online! The pony cost less than £50 as a colt foal! Definitely the best £50 ever spent!
That's Lance on his holidays from shows now and he will be broken and ridden away properly over winter.
