3rd one is a scorrier, not sure if spelling correct, most often seen on a driving horse. The other pictures I couldn't open.

I could open them all - first looked like a half cheek but not seen a loose ring version like that before.

I thought the second was a Wilson snaffle, as I thought scouriers had a rougher mouthpiece (also seen them where the ring goes through the mouthpiece rather than being completely separate).
But quite happy to be corrected! I think both are more common in driving.

The first one we use in racing for horses that hang to one side badly. The horse takes more of a hold on one side the stalk digs into the jaw thus causing pain and getting the horse to straighten up.

The first I would call a half spoon bit, common in racing and I remember them used on ridden ponies years ago although deeply unfashionable now. Aids steering mostly.
The second is a flat ring wilson driving bit.

toffee, they can be ridden in but i believe they are quite harsh bits.

3bh it isnt a half spoon.

adorablealice, its okay... i didnt know what they were either so i learned something too! i posted the pictures in a horsey group on facebook and we know what the 4 ring one is but still dont have a clue about the other one!!
