3/4 scoop happy hoof and a measure of topspec, having this twice a day along with hay morning and night, still out 24/7 at the moment rugged :-)

Oldie having half scoop happy hoof, measure of topspec antilam and hanfull of speedibeet, so he dosnt feel left out, also soaked hay morning and night, restricted grazing as suffers from MBS out 24/7 lightly rugged, hes 27 :-)

At the moment only two of ous are being fed, grass is still good and they have a mineral lick in the field. Our 28 yr old is on speedi beet and a conditioning veteran mix and his supplement, and my 3yr old cob is getting speedi beet and a bit of youngstock mix, but he doesnt really need it. The others will be getting something when the grass is not so good, too fat for now.
One of ours is also a shire x dad was a dutch warmblood.

To Bl**dy much

16 year, Tb Gelding gets fed once a day -

1 Scoop of Alfa A oil
1 Scoop of conditioning flakes
1/4 scoop bran
1/4 scoop oats

He could really do with two feeds now but I can't manage that until he comes home for the winter in a few weeks time.

He's currently out 24/7 with a light rug on and no hay.

The two natives don't get fed.

Hi, Not sure if you know but HH is a complete feed (so it says on the bag)

Mine are on Mare and youngstock and everyday chaff and as much hay as they want and out for as long as we have daylight then they come at night.

Ozz (4yo TB) Gets a scoop and a half (round stubbs one) of Fast Fibre and a scoop of happy hoof, with soya oil and brewer's yeast twice a day

Len (good doer) is on a handful of FF and HH, just enough to get his joint supplement in him :p

No hay as yet, out 24/7 on okish grass. Ozz has a rain sheet on at night, Len is naked :p

J&C

My hunter is currently having:
2 x cups of Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer
Ad-lib haylage when he is during the day

But I am going to add some chaff and 1/2 scoop of conditioning cubes in the next week or so too. :)

My cob is muzzled so has:

fast fibre 250g (only to mix in powder)
Equi-gold
Magnesium
Linseed
Naf Slimline

Almost finished the Slimline but wont be re-placing it until next summer if she gets a bit porky. Still out and not rugged, will be clipping her next month so the rug will come out then.

1/4 scoop chestnut lite (twice a day)
1/2 scoop blue chip original (twice a day)
2 scoops Hilton Herbs hoof and health (once a day)
a couple of apples

haylage (a skip full 3x/day)
grazing (3.30 p.m. - 9.30 a.m.)

He looks well on it!

P

1/4 stubbs scoop cheapy cubes, 1/2 stubbs scoop Alfa-A, supplements.

I'll probably up the feed in the next two or three weeks, depending on how he's looking, but there's no sign so far of needing it :p

Happy hoof is a complete food, you should not really feed it with other stuff as it has everything you need in it all ready.

Depends how much grass you have at the moment if you need hay yet or not, but remember for the fatties this time of year can be dangerous as the grass can be almost like spring grass depending on the weather.

we all watch thier weight in spring but they can also get lammi at this time of year because the grass can have a sudden spurt of growth.
we are forcast to have a short hot spell this week so be carefull!

My girl gets 1 scoop Happy Hoof am and pm with magnesium and weighed hay which is soaked, she's only out muzzled for 5-6hours.

Ad lib hay when stabled at night.

Breakfast: 25ml of oestress, on last bottle for the year.
Pink Powder
1 coffee mug of fast fibre (2 mugs water) to mix in the supplements.

Tea: nothing but she thinks she should be having something, she's given me a headache all week!

This is for a 16.3 in light/medium work.

1 Stubbs scoop hifi
1/2 scoop fibre nuts
1 mug balancer
Squirt of oil.

X 2 per day plus ad-lib hay at night and decent grass during the day.

He's a TB in medium work and in good condition.

12 yr old ish, living out wearing lightweight. Very good doer and plenty of grass.

He has 1/2 scoop happy hoof and his superflex supplement with a couple of mint treats (he won't eat it otherwise!).

He's not in work at the moment hence little tiny feed once per day.

Happy hoof is a complete food, you should not really feed it with other stuff as it has everything you need in it all ready.

It only has 'everything you need in it' if fed at the recommended rate for the size of the horse. The OP's horse is a shire x, so presumably quite a big horse. The recommended daily rate for a 15hh cob type is actually 3kg of Happy Hoof per day which is considerably more than the 1 stubbs scoop a day that the OP is feeding! (1 stubbs scoop of chaff type feed is usually about 500g).

I thought it important to point this out because you often come across people giving their horses a handful or two of Happy Hoof in the mistaken belief that this is 'giving the horse everything it needs'. (This goes for the majority of compound feeds, not just Happy Hoof, I should add).

Paddy Irish is on

1 small square scoop spillers conditioning fibre
1 smallish cup spillers original balancer
1 measure biotin plus
glucosamin
equus herbs summer shine / winter glow ( definitely reccommend )

My selle francais x oldenburg in light\med work (mostly hacking) and lives out 24\7
She has, morning and evening...
1 stubbs scoop Alfa beet
Sames sized scoop happy hoof
Horsehage x 2 slices

Little welshie same workload and out 24\7 has a handful of happy hoof to have his global herbs airway plus suppplement in, twice a day and a slice of haylage in the evening.

Both look great and regularly checked with weight tape, especially the little one...will up the big girls feed and start ad lib haylage when grass goes\she starts to look like she needs it\it gets cold.

My 20yr old Welsh D x gelding is getting

cup and a half of Veteran vitality soaked
1/2 round scoop of alfalfa oil
1 x round scoopof beetpulp
hoof supplement

One feed at night and good grass 24/7 if out or this years haylege if in one extra large net

My 12yr old WBxTB mare is getting

2 cups of Veteran Vitality soaked
1 scoop of alfa oil
1 scoop of beetpulp
2 x 15g measures of linseed meal
hoof supplement

three times a day and three extra large haynets of this years haylege as on box rest at the moment

Gelding has a blanket clip and a 200g rug on when out and a 100g when in, Mare has a 100g on during the day and a 200g underrug added at night, trying to keepher warm and get some weight on her.

Well at the moment barely anything as we still have lots of grass and he has bit of a belly. If he has been doing lots of work and obviously in the winter, I feed my 17.2 warmblood:

1 x Scoop of Alpha A
3/4 Scoop of Calm & Condition
Handful of Ready Grass
Squirt of Oil
and lots of water to mix!

In winter and if he dropping weight I add middlings.

My tb has:
1 scoop happy hoof
vit and min supp
joint supp

My idx has:
half scoop happy hoof
vit and min supp
joint supp
no bute

Both have their dehrahedron balls half filled with high fibre nuts every am in field and they have 6 slices of hay between them at night in field.

Mine have only started coming in so building up the hard feed gradually WB is now on 1/2 Molloichaf Showshine, 1/2 Spillars conditioning cubes and 1/2 cool mix, he's put on the bit he lost and his workload is increasing so will tweak as necessary.

Sec A is a very good do'er but give him a little something so he's not left out- handful of Mollichaf Calmer he shouldn't need a lot more, but can add as and when if needed.

I feed my 13.3 welsh x supplements plus 1/2 stubbs scoop happy hoof, 1/2 scoop baileys conditioning cubes and 1 scoop fast fibre once a day just now he's out with a light weight on but will come in when the weather turns. My 9hh shetland is too fat and is on restricted grazing unrugged at the minute but he will be clipped next month. He is fed a tiny handfull of happy hoof after he is ridden so he gets his supplements. Both will get ad lib when they come in at night :-)

I'm curious as to the reasoning behind feeding both HH and hifi lite in small quantities....?

Mine is a fatty! She's been allowed on the now old and stalky grass that grew in the Spring, purely because I need to rest the barer paddocks for a couple of months. Even that is enough to make her put on weight! She's not rugged (or likely to be for quite some time) and is only being fed a daily dose of lite balancer with a handful of lite chaff, her magnesium and a touch of salt.

When we're really into winter she will have a lw rug and haylage, but no greater amount of hard feed. She will stay out 24/7 and is a retired, 10 y/o WB.

my 20 year old Cobx (semi-retired) is on night time turn out, 4kilo haylage net when stabled during the day and 1 cup of Spillers Lite balancer am and pm - thats it, and that's what she gets all year round (although the turn out and stabling swaps over winter to be in at night out in the day)
