What are you watching?

When we went into lockdown thete wete some really good documentaries on Netflix, Steven Avery, All American Murder, Tiger King, Dawn Wall, Cheer, Speedcubers, Hotel Cecil, Dont F**k with Cats, Evil Genius, Iscarius, etc.

Now there doesn't seem to be anything to watch in the way of documentaries.
 
Just finished Sandman which was truly awesome, a bit bonkers and some grizzly bits in places but loved it.

Blown Away on Netflix is perfect "I don't want to think I just want to watch people make cool stuff" viewing.

A League of Their Own on Prime was also absolutely phenomenal, follows the first professional women's baseball league in America in the 40's. Not at all like the film but excellent in its own right.

I know I've banged on about it lots but Normal People (on iPlayer) is one of the best bits of telly I've seen in years.

Also This is Us (although I didn't love the last series) and the Marvellous Mrs Maisel on Amazon and Ted Lasso on Apple TV and Love Life on iPlayer. There's also a series on Amazon called Modern Love, it's a series of half hour short stories based on the New York Times feature where readers send in their love stories (not all romantic love). It's lovely and very easy to pick up and put down as every episode is self contained.

There's a new series on Apple called Bad Sisters that's had excellent reviews but i'll save it for when Ted Lasso s3 comes out and I'll do another month's free trial to watch them both as I've not really seen anything else (apart from The Morning Show which I think has now finished) worth watching on Apple. I tend to cancel my subscriptions until there's something I really want to see and then start them again. I have been thinking of getting Netflix again for Schitt's Creek, especially as OH is about to go back on shift (he's been on semi-permanent days for the last few months) so I'll actually get to watch something I want to watch on telly. He does tend to hog the screen and my last attempt at putting my foot down and saying we are definitely watching this didn't go too well. It was Married on BBC last week. Beautiful acting from a great cast but nothing happens!
 
I've just finished Series 1 of Red Rose on iplayer. Filmed in my home town. Low budget, but kept me watching, despite some scenes being so dark I couldn't see what was happening (wish they wouldn't do that!!).

I'm listening to Handmaid's Tale on audiobook at the moment. One of those rare incidences when the video is better than the book/audio (plus it really irks me that the narrator is English!!).
 
We only have Netflix, we loved Ozark, particularly Ruthy. My OH was then is hospital for 10 weeks so I watched some odd stuff and nearly despaired until I found Breaking Bad!! This is pretty old hat I realise but it certainly entertained me, but now OH is home I don't know if I will get to the end.
A film I would recommend is called Motherless Brooklyn, a slightly sad private detective with Tourett''s who finds happiness. I thought it was brave subject matter.
 
Have virtually given up on "broadcast" channels apart from the racing at weekends as it seems mostly rubbish - though I did this week watch the start of Michael Portillo's Pyrenees journey which looks promising. Stunning scenery.

Am a recent convert to Netflix and enjoyed the american political fantasy series "Designated Survivor". Maybe it is a reflection of the state of the world but am currently escaping by re-watching the mystic fantasy of "Merlin". A sucker for anything Arthurian!!
 
A friend told me today that Disney+ are making a series of Jilly Cooper's Rivals. That will either be a fantastic watch or totally cringey. Not sure how well the casual homophobia and domestic violence will translate - especially on Disney+.

If you like stuff based on real events then super pumped and dopesick are really good.
