Not long now... the nights are getting darker more quickly now and a def nip in the air... I hate winter times, all the mud and rain. So what are your plans, over the winter time!!!
hunting!!..... or???

Hmm, lots of sjing, interspersed with a little bit of hunting and just all round education for my madam really!!

She will have several breaks too most probably

hunting the older horse with a bit of dressage and sj thrown in.

5yro will be working on dressage mainly with some sj to keep her motivated- no hutning as she is already quite forwards enough!

Back to BD, and I *must* do some horrible SJ this year. I've been saying it for 3 years - might actually get round to it this time

How depressing talking of winter plans, even more depressing season ends next month. As soon as fixture list is up going to plan season and book time off so I don't have a lot of pissed off patients again!!!

Hunting my 19yo ginger in my sig, as he is primarily (sp?) a hunter (whipper in horse and huntsmans horse for south notts before i bought him lol)...and doing some BSJA and some HT in october on him.

BSJA-ing Bugsy, hopefully get some good results over winter after our few problems this summer (only had him 3 months now...so should get back on track
laugh.gif
)

Getting Dani fit (hopefully he stays sound after his ligament rupture..) and if he is sound in canter/jumping, i will take him to some unaff sj like really small (65 and 75cm) and then move up throughut winter and hopefully get back to BSJA on him
laugh.gif

i hate winter...as i have to fit my riding of 3 (
shocked.gif
!!!???) horses around my school and A level work...and usually end up having to go for hacks in the dark with a torch on my hat and luminous gear on because our yard is split 50/50 with a riding school and livery yard, and so the menage is usually used by riding school in winter
mad.gif
so i have nowhere floodlit to go...:( nightmare.. xx

I will be giving my horse a month off as a well deserved holiday to bring him back over December/January to BD and BSJA (much needed) practice!!

Can't believe the season ends soon

hopefully working both 4 yr olds all winter, since 1 was backed, ridden away in late Spring and has had the whole summer off to mature, and the other has been in very light work only. hope to go to little dr and jumping shows and get a bit of xc in if ground conditions permit. not looking forward to wintry weather though, must live in the windiest place on the planet, great fun on baby horses.

there's no hunting around here at all, the huge drainage dykes really aren't any fun!

I'm fancying trying a wee day with the local draghounds, never done it before but sounds fun. Should really attempt to do as much dressage practice as possible to improve our marks for doing a few BE events next year, bleugh!
wink.gif

Hopefully Les Smith will be running the Arena Eventing towards the start of spring again which was good fun last year- now we've actually evented, we might do a little better at them!

So depressing having the nights coming in so quickly again, won't be long until the clocks go back and then it's goodbye daylight!

I even stocked up on shavings for the winter yesterday!

I'll be starting hunting soonish, we've got a rake of horses in to qualify P2P again this year and might even take Jack for some 'education' if I can find a quiet enough meet! Going to try and keep in at the jumping and dressage - my aim would usually be to jump the 1.20m classes at the Premier Show in Feb but they've moved it to Ingliston so I've dodged a bullet there but will be aiming for consistent 1.15m jumping and I WILL get a plus 65% dressage score. I WILL I WILL I WILL! Winter is depressing, my thoughts drifted to clipping and big rugs last night grrr.

Draghunting the chestnut, BSJA/dressage for the grey. If I manage to get the thesis done and finally buy a house/yard by December, then I think I'm going to buy a nice youngster.

Kerilli, if you want to go XC on your babies in the winter, PM me. I know somewhere that's open all year and has really nice going whatever the weather.

I would like to (not a plan though, definatly not a plan) take the old mare (18) out hunting just once. Apparently she has been ocne before, so a nice quiet day out for a bit of a change would be nice.

Also want to actually find a trainer and start training and maybe even eye up a return to the dressage arena with her. She still has a few points left at medium

Also plan to back both 3yo fillies, and a 5yo once her foal is weaned. All that has to wait till I get out of hospital though, and have healed up.

Banned from team chasing and hunting. Will be a winter of Dressige and SJ for me.

Well, if you and the horse turn up at the opening meet clad in baby blue what do you expect?

PS Some very nice people have bought me some new travel boots, so the baby-blue-with-pink-trim ones are now available!

shoes come off 6.30am monday :-((
I start a new career as a science teacher tomorrow, and coupled with 4 rugby playing boys know when it's sensible to let something off, so R is having a nice long hols - should do her feet good anyway i hope. Fell a bit sad about ti though as she's jumping so well atm

I'm hopefully going to actually be able to ride my new horse once she's been to naughty girl's school for rebacking! Then it will be hacking and some Riding Club dressage and SJ and farm rides to get us ready for eventing next season.

Silly question Gucci B . I took the big horse to Coomblands today and while I was unboxing, the bloodhounds came past exercising. The look on his face!! Then he looked about ready to burst into tears when they were loaded up and driven away.

A lot depends on transport, as I have none of my own yet. Hopefully I can tag along with my RI to some more hunting, and with some people on the yard to BD.

Within hacking distance, there's 2 dressage leagues and 2 SJ leagues, so I'll do at least the dressage, and the SJ if the pony co-operates. Mainly, I'd like to get him working consistently at Novice level...one can always hope!
laugh.gif

mmmmm, draghunting. had started to get nervous about it, but then the hunt ride on Monday was just a big, fat buzz and I cant wait to get going properly again now! Subs for the whole season to fund though
frown.gif

will no doubt be down Merrist Wood on Wed evenings trying to convince the nutter to do dressage in that indoor and doing BD at any outdoor dressage we can find. Plus, hopefully cracking on with some SJ schooling at home.
