I think sugar beet pellets are much of a muchness except some have molasses and some don’t. The important thing is to thoroughly soak the pellets for a few hours prior to feeding, don’t make too much in hot weather or it will ferment before you use it all and don’t store the pellets anywhere the horse can get at them. Sugar beet is a very versatile feed and very economical and most horses love it.

So, what's the question then? Clearly beet feed means something different to you than to me or Quigley...

I'm not 100% certain what you're asking either.

Do you mean molasses or unmollassed sugarbeet? Or sugarbeet pellets versus flakes? Or which brand of sugarbeet people use?

I used to use unmollassed quick soak sugarbeet for what it's worth but now feed an alternative soaked feed. But don't think it's strictly speaking considered a beet feed.

the question is for recommendations for beet feeds to put weight on a horse. I dont recommend beet to put weight on. Although I am assuming by beet you mean sugar beet?

I can't believe I'm having to explain this to be honest, almost feels like I'm being trolled here.. Though you did give me a better response and litterally told me what you used so.. touché lol.. I meant what product >_>

Yes though I prefer not to use the term sugar as people get the wrong idea about it and believe it contains sugar, not to mention it's not entirely accurate as it's actually beet pulp which is the byproduct which is left over from when sugar beet is turned into pulp and drained of it's sugar which then is seprated which thus becomes.. not sugar. But yeah, in general, it's from sugar beet, aka beet pulp or simply beet for short. Care to enlighten me on why not?

Ask the nutritionist that recommended it.

They had nothing to offer, only to recommend "something with beet in it". Even when I pushed to ask "what kind of feed would you suggest?" I simply got "Any, they're all ok as long as they have beet in them". Which isn't entirely helpful, bit like your response to be honest.. and what's wrong with asking here anyway? Seems you're just knit picking and trying to be a smart ass rather than wanting to answer my question, which no one forced you into viewing or responding to.

Why are you being so stroppy? It was a genuine question! I wouldn’t be using a nutritionist that was that vague but you crack on. I’m not sure why you did ask the question on here as you are being horrible to everyone who responds.

If you're literally looking for possible products containing beet as a starter for ten you've got Bailey's Speedibeet & Fibre Beet, Spiller's Speedymash Fibre, Allen and Page Fast Fibre, Simple Systems do a sugarbeet product too ... probably more beside.

Like I said, I used to feed Bailey's Speedibeet but now feed Fast Fibre.

I'm geniunely not sure what else you want in a right reply. I told you what I fed in the first post and got told 'touche' but I hope you find the suitable beet product it is you are looking for :)

I use speedibeet although if you're wanting weight gain fibre beet is 12mJ/kg (versus 11 for the speedibeet) and soaks fast too.
I've tried other beet based feeds (purabeet etc) but my horses didn't like them as much and the longer soaking time was a complete nuisance.

Well to be honest your previous response was a bit too litteral and if I didn't know better I'd say it seemed a bit sarcastic? Either way, thank you for giving me a better answer.

Thanks for the response, was quite enlightening and helpful. Glad someone here is. I was just looking at Purabeet, frankly I've not heard of most of these feeds. Only came across Trident, whom I may also state are a complete waste of time, custoemr services are terrible. Long story short; trying to get a sample from them is like trying to get blood out of a stone but anyway.. Again, thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

What a pair of trouble makers you are, if anyone needs to grow up here it's you two. Blocked.

I have been on this forum for years and this is the first time I have ever felt the need to call someone out for being rude and antagonistic.

You might want to re-read your posts and reflect on your attitude. I have to assume you were having a bad day yesterday, and hope you have a better day today.

Sugar beet is a bit like potatoes. Whether mashed, roasted, boiled or fried the basics don't change- its still a carbohydrate that will give energy and bulk.

You could choose any brand and get similar results. The only difference is whether it contains molasses or not, and soaking time.

Molasses will give more calories, but are sugar so are best avoided for good doers or sharper horses.

Just wish to say first of all allow me to apologise for my attitude last night, I do hope that this hasn't affected the majority of you too much as I'm sure it might have. I have had a couple of bad experiences particually on this forum when it comes to off-putting responses from other people which of course is rather upsetting and frustating especially when trying to deal with matters where I'm asking for guidance and help. I try not to say too much about it as I find when you do all you'll get are people who want to lecture or argue rather than give you a straight answer so this is why I was pretty vague on my question as I knew exactly what I wanted to know about. However, even after giving a simple question I have found yet again unhelpful responses which again, as stated, is just frustrating and upsetting. I am in general very dissapointed with this forum and I understand that this doesn't speak for everybody here but when you cosntantly get bad experiences and responses you start to wonder.

Of course, as stated, this does not apply to everyone here which again is why I apologise to the rest of you and especially those that have given me the answer I was originally looking for.
