I have just taken on a share horse and need to get a body protector as i am going to be doing some xc on him.
Please could you recommend me one ?

I want something as comfortable as possible :-)

Thanks

I have an airowear outlyne which is very comfortable, currently saving up for a kanteq. I used to fit body protectors and the same goes as with riding hats...best to try a few on as not every one fits every body shape/back length!

Airowear Outlyne or racesafe. the airowear has an option of additional shoulder pads, and its adjustable, if you either grow, lose/put on weight etc. But racesafe is also very comfortable. :) The airowear however won't be as comfortable at first as it will after a while as it needs to soften and mould to your body. :) i'd reccomend going to a tack shop and trying out both :) see which you prefer :)

I've tried quite a few and found the racesafe ones are the comfiest and i can move in them, which is important as i have youngsters and don't like to feel too restricted in them.

used to have a rodney powell and it was awful! put me right off wearing one. If I was to buy another one though I would defo get a racesafe!

Thanks everyone.

I have had a look at all suggestions and am going to go try them for fit.

SHOWPONY - If i had £600 in my pocket, i'd be going on holiday :-)

If you can afford it one of below ( am saving up myself for one )

Except that is an air jacket, and not a body protector. OP if you wanted to compete with an air jacket, or even cross country school at any respectable course, you would ALSO need a regular body protector underneath ;) Of course some people choose to only use an airjacket without a proper body protector for leisure riding/hunting but as you are wanting to do xc you will NEED a standard bp.

I'm another racesafe fan, Kan's are good too; expensive but made from a different material which means that they don't need to be replaced as often as other bp's as the foam does not degrade. Make sure you get it fitted properly, Racesafe and Kan will both make to measure. If you do go for the Racesafe make sure it is the newer model the RS2010 and not the older RS2000.
