What breed is your horse, and does it conform to the stereotype?

TB x WB - laid back, easy to do in all respects, a bit of a lady muck, total confidence giver, absolutely hates dustbins but isnt fazed by chainsaws or hedgecutters or readymix lorries, absolutely bombproof in any traffic, terrific jump, pretty hardy, prone to getting fat. snorts like a pig.
 
Highland....quietly and politely stubborn- not a nasty bone in him. Will take the piss with a novice rider but looks after daughter . Thinks he's a dog. Just discovered he loves jumping- very neat over poles - jumps like a stag over rustics/bales/tyres etc. Wish he was a hand bigger

Arab....was a nervous wreck, is turning into a lovely boy. Very loving and curious. Makes a meal of a trotting pole....

They both do have typical breed traits I suppose, but I just treat them as their own 'person'...
 
TB - looks more like a warmblood than a TB but is a wimp. Although he is kind, safe and sensible.

I had a 4yr old fell mare - stubborn, cheeky, hated kids and bucked them off whenever she could. Fantastic personality though, if only i was shorter i would have kept her.

Our connies are all pretty much safe and sensible all rounders who are constantly pampered by kids and they love it. They are amazing ponies who are great for kiddies and competitive teens and adults.
 
Traditional cob - not the fastest but very forward thinking, chilled out / you can do anything with him, but put your leg on and you might end up in the next county! Also has an impressive jump on him for his size, turns on a six pence and regularly used to beat the "posh" horses in the sj ring ;)

Highland, the willingest, most dog-like horse I've ever known, would sell his soul for a scratch on the withers, moves well and is quite forward (though not as sharp as the cob), loves jumping, but can throw a devilish spook and has a cheeky side...

Elements of stereotype, but definitely not a ploddy cob or a stubborn lazy highland!
 
Andalusian

Very very tough. Unshod and self trims (my farrier hates me). Never spooks, is 250% bomproof, wont concentrate when doing competitive dressage, jumps like a stag especially x country (fast) . Has happily lived out all winter clipped and rugged, is a very good doer (cheap to feed), has a fab sense of humour, climbs on anything he can. The best allrounder ever!

Doesnt always conform to stereotype!
 
The only typical traits my TB has are flat feet and difficutly keeping weight on. Other than that he is not the brightest button, very laid back, not bothered by anything, safe and sensible.
 
Mule and if the steriotype is "Mules can do anything a horse can do but better, and with a sense of humour"...yep!That about sums them up ;)
 
Gypsy cob. He's forward going but safe. Can put kids on him and he looks after them but can really go with a good rider. Tries so hard and worries if he thinks he's not doing what you ask.
 
Farra - Clydesdale, joy to own - very gentle, great to ride as calm and willing.

Stinky - gypsy cob - cheeky, highly intelligent, fearless. Great all rounder but you do need to keep him in work and maintain his manners or he will take great advantage of you if given the opportunity.
 
Welsh D- quirky, very capable (when he wants), plenty of character but more like a TB to feed and keep at a decent weight.

Appy x Cob- forward and incredibly genuine but absoloutely no jumping ability (we're hoping this is due to her lack of schooling!)
 
WB complete wimp and nappy but super paces and awesome jump and such a loving horse!
ISH brave bold safe, stupid and bolshy on the ground
 
TB mare - kindest soul I've ever met with great paces, confirmation and feet. A real worrier though - but does so VERY quietly, tries her heart out but not very trusting, incredibly sensitive, hard to keep weight on and HATES changes in routine. Very 'looky' but not one to spook & run off - far too manerly. Thin skinned both physically and emotionally.

In some respects a typical TB but not in others - she looks a lot more laid back than she is as she's too polite to be hysterical when upset - but is easily upset.
 
Connemara X TB...

Short legged, long backed, but jumps like an absolute stag!
Has a winter coat that is present for 10 months of the year...
Absolute gentleman on the ground and to look after, soppy dog really.

I'd say he does!
 
TB x Luso - is very honest and always willing (luso), on his TB side he is quite sharp but in a good way, pushbutton! Used to be spooky but grown up a lot nowadays.

Welsh x Highland - Very cheeky and clever.

Shetland - Typical of the breed, stroppy and has an attitude about her height.
 
Welsh D - Very forward going, can be sharp, very argumentative, extremely clever, driven by her stomach, could be fat living in the sahara desert... I think she's pretty stereotypical but knows her manners and is not as bolshy as a lot of them.

Trad Cob x Welsh x Pinto - Stomach driven, laid back (had a saddle put on her back for the first time and went to sleep!), lovely 'person' to be around.
 
Last horse - Ex Racer. Chilled, a bit quirky because of her physical problems. Without that however she was a complete gem, your granny could sit on her, or lead her to and from the field etc! Very good doer, wintered on fresh air! Fantastic feet, unshod behind for nearly 3 years. However was crap to clip and to hack when she didn't want to hack!

Current horse - KWPN registered, Dutch Warmblood, Imported from Holland. Very "hot" to ride but no bucking, rearing, bolting, napping etc. Again a good doer. I've never really had to worry about her weight. Good feet, crap teeth (apparently a Warmblood trait!). Loves hacking, good to box, clip, shoe. However has an almighty spook!!!

I think both of mine go against the grain. The TB wasn't highly strung in the slightest. Warmbloods are supposed to be lazy and dopey, my mare is very intelligent, forward going etc.
 
Warmblood - Too clever for his own good which does sometimes make him look a bit like a dumblood. Food orientated, incredible good dooer, sharp foward but safe and generally non spooky :)
 
ISH (TBxID)- Lovable yet grumpy, spooky yet brave, Very smart and trainable when she puts her mind to it! constantly worried about invisible monsters in invisible hedges... (I swear she can see air!!:confused:) A complete D**k most of the time on the ground :o.... Im pretty sure her Irish draught side is non existant! If you can imagine the most wound up tb available... you got my girl! lol ( Good job I love her aint it!!! :D)

However, unlike JSRs pony, mine is very cuddly and loves a fuss and hug.

Not fair!! I want a horse who loves cuddles!! I have to go to other horses stables to get a hug, you can see it in my lads face when I force him into a cuddle he hates it!! He's like a child trying to get away from a mum who insists on kissing him!! Lol!! Mind you if I have food then I'm the bestest person ever and he loves me loads!!!:rolleyes: Oh well guess that's why I have dogs for the loving and the horse for mad gallops on the beach!!

I got him as a freshly broken 4yo and he is bombproof, forward going, slightly strong, very very lovable and easy going and generally couldn't give a monkeys about anything that goes on around him.

I have the best of both worlds - Welsh D x Fell. Loveable, laid back but intelligent.
