I have a Friesian Stallion, this is my third one and i absolutely adore their temperament.

Being an old f*rt i have owned and looked after many breeds and I have found the temperament is second to none, together with their trainability and ability to turn a hoof to anything. Aize Drives, hacks and does dressage, he does tricks and is the horse of a lifetime for me.

Over to you.

I have a Westphalen gelding. I'm not that bothered by breed, everytime I've gone looking I've wanted an ID x TB and never ended up with one yet. The only thing I knew I didn't want was another Hannoverian as thats what Lil was and apparently her attitude is quite typical of her line.

I am a sucker for anything Irish. I own a pure bred connemara who I hunt and is the best horse I have ever hunted - he jumps like a stag and keeps up with the bigger horses with no issues. I also own an irish show cob who moves like an angel and has a temperament to die for.
I am one lucky lady....!

I have a traditional cob because I've always loved them, their flowing mane and feather and also their weight carrying ability (I've never been that small). I was, however, very unknowledgable about the breeds so cob was all I really knew. Now though, there are quite a few breeds I'd consider, though not tb... lol!

I own a Shire x TB.
I have always loved shires, the kind, gentle giant nature of them. the way they look. the way they move. EVERYTHING about shires :D
Having bought a Shire x TB I wouldnt hesitate to buy another, they make a fab x :D

I have a registered Welsh Part bred :) She is just over 15hh and rising 5yrs old :)

I have a tb x fell.
I like tb x natives as you get the pony brain and the tb agility. They also tend to be a good size and build for me.

A Welsh D.

When my old boy died, I was horse hunting and very open minded.

I had no particular breed criteria, just an age and height range and that I wanted something for general RC activities.

I travelled to Wales to see a section D, Kent to see a warmblood, Sussex to see an Irish thoroughbred, then saw my mare as a stopgap between seeing a palomino welsh x arab I loved the look of.

I admittedly looked especially at section D's and WB's but also considered everything else. Also, the D in Wales failed the vetting twice and the TB I also had vetted, as he was a genuine boy but I was not pleased with the feedback from the vet acting on my behalf so didn't buy him. I just hope those two are in good homes now as they were both lovely animals.

I went to see my girl having seen no pictures of her and knowing she had only ever hacked before and had only been in her present home for 4 weeks, the lady couldn't handle her as she was too strong. I instantly fell in love with her personality in the stable and riding her was great fun.

I never went to see the palomino and took my mare home 7 days after viewing her, we haven't looked back since- she has done everything I have ever wanted her to do and more, she is with me for life.

Also, I was originally after only a gelding but ended up with a mare somehow!

I have a Czech WB. Why because after years of Welshies I decided I wanted a not too intelligent, stubborn horse. He is exactly what I wanted :D

I also wanted something with the nice paces for DR

It all comes from one day have a SJ lesson, naughty WC xTB had previously dumped me at fence then I was bogged off with around huge indoor, I yelled to my instructor I wanted a dumb WB

the idea just stuck in my head, so when I found myself looking for a new one, a 'dumb WB' it was :D

Bless him he really is sweet and lovely and a little bit smarter than I expected (but not too much)

I have a TB mare because she was cheap!!

Well not only because she was cheap, but because she's also beautiful and such a sweetie. She wasn't what I was lookng for (wanted something a bit chunkier) but just loved her...and still do.

appaloosas

i didnt like them at first when i saw one well say dont like, i wouldnt have thought of buying one.
then when i was about 15 my mum bought a blanket spot colt out of august dakota

my mums old appy :)
and he had the most wonderful temp and fantastic personality he was such a fast little learner and would try anything (although sometimes a bit stubborn) he was a wonderful pony

dont get me wrong i have had an arab cross
an IDxTB
2 welsh's (which are also wonderful but a hand full at times)

now i have appys and one day hope to get a pure bred arab.

my tri spot is fantastic and is proving to be a very very fast learner and so calm most of the time. i have only had her about 5 months now and when i got her she was almost wild. didnt like people near her hated stables wouldnt lead and was totally head shy and all the rest that comes from being left alone for 14 months of her life :o:o

it took 2 days to get her leading 1 week to get her leading properly and getting to stand still. about 3 days to let me touch her ears and now she is fab. she has come on so well and so fast (like my mums old appy) i think i am appy owner for life now.
i would love an arab because they are more forward (as a rule) more high spirited and they are so beautiful and graceful with every step, if that makes sense?
or i would have an appy cross arab and have the best of both worlds an arab face but the spots from my appy :):):):):)...one day :)

I have a belgum warmblood. Why, because his cute face looked at me over the stable door when I went to my instructors trainers yard (to babysit for her whilst she had a lesson) and I decided I had to have him (sort of)! I didnt want a warmblood I wanted an ID or stockier type cobbyX horse! I also didnt want one quite as big as him, but hey.

i am just like you i have a 5 year old friesian gelding who i am besotted with...... see any post its me saying i love my boy lol :D

We use to live in ireland where i schooled a friesian mare and fell in love with there breed and decided that i wanted one. Then could not afford one but i fell into some money and then found paddy....
It was love at first site.
I have had him for nearly a year and a half and everyday i see him i can not believe he is mine :):)

although i do think you need to be a strong owner as they are very smart and can take advantage

I have a highland. I've always liked ponies and these days I like to be closer to the ground :) I like their no nonsense temperaments, and they are very low maintenance too. I also like showing so with him I have the breed society shows as well as the local ones. Lastly, I have spent most of my life wanting one so he is a childhood dream realised!

i have a beautiful new forest because i wanted a connie but could not afford one so ended up with a new forest instead. so about 3.5 years ago after looking at all sort of ponies and almost giving up i ended up with a very smart 5 yr old new forest (he was 2nd and 3rd in his class in hand at the breed show with his breeder when he was 2 & 3) for probably about half the price of buying a connie of the same quality.

Having got a new forest i don't think i would consider any other breed. they are excellant value for money, really intelligent versatile ponies and most have lovely gentle nature.

I have a TB as my 'pet' because they are such people horses, I love that she actually cares who feeds her, and that she adapts to my mood so well. I also love how intelligent and clued in to humans she is! She'll do whatever I want her to but she loves hacking out, so when I have time we do a fair bit of that!

OH has a NFxExmoor who is solid as a house (so can carry him), stubborn as anything (I think that's the attraction tbh), and chose him. She worked on him with her little pony wiles until he'd groom/lead/feed/ride no-one else (she was just a companion pony beforehand lol).

To compete, I have a warmbloodx - 'cause she has the breeding and movement.

Welsh Cob x TB for me, cos he is the right height, build, temperament and he is pretty. Welsh sec a for my son, cos she has pretty little fluffy ears :D

I have a gorgeous FULL IRISH DRAUGHT. I have had part ID all my adult life and love em but always wanted a full one. Then Ginger came along a full RID 17hh 4 years old chestnut and an absolute star!!!
Wouldnt have any other breed!

I have a traditional cob. They are all so pretty with their long floaty manes and big fluffy feathers. Temperament wise she is perfect for me, she can be a happy hacking plod, but put her in front of a jump and she will clear it every time (even if i mess it up by accident), she is also very good in the ménage and at shows. A total all-rounder with such character.
But...I am a sucker for an x-racer TB, I had one as my first horse and I couldn’t fault him. Had him 10 years. I would buy another one tomorrow if i could. :D

Ok this is hard for me

my haffy, he is hard work, pushy and a pain in the bum, but he is my barbie horse.

my friesians, the only mare I have. I have had her since sept but she has something special. I just cant tell you what. my gelding is stupid spooky and a pain , but very sweet.

my warmblood, the first time I saw him I had to have him. yes he looked a mess but his paces are to die for.

my girls cross welsh, a smaller pushy pain in the bum, the first pony we got so he is special.

my cross he is a haffy /fjord /holsteiner and just so lovely

not forgetting the two dartmoor hill ponies............... they have paces to die for and just something abit special, even though they only cost £50, oh and they always come first when we show them

I have TB (ex racer) He found me really, I fell for him as soon as i saw him. I've also had a Sec D and a part bred.

He probably has the best temperament and is very polite.

Thoroughbred....love'em! Used to have a TB but also tried Irish and Dutch warmblood over the years, didn't get on with either so went back to a trusty TB. Had my boy since May and absolutely adore him (plus he was a bit of a bargain!)

I have a KWPN Gelderlander, beautiful to look at, extravagant paces and a stunning personality. Not the traditional dumb blood, very intelligent and quirky. But he is the fastest learner and he has enormous presence. Opinionated and difficult, he is my horse of a life time.

We also have a Ardennes (Trait Ardennais) I have no idea why we got a draught horse, we were looking for a safe hack, preferably a cob, although I love the heavies I never thought I'd own one. She is awesome, the nicest natured horse I have ever met, never bitten, kicked, been grumpy. Gentle and kind all the time, even in season. As bombproof as it is possible to be, never spooks or shies at anything.

FDC

connie
all the hardyness of a native with a good jump and make good all rounders (we are working on this bit). Fab temprement and too cleaver for his own good. Low maintenance no shoes and no hard feed. Easy enough for my mum to handle but with enough spark to keep me interested when riding.
I would have loved a nice warmblood or tb but having seen several people over horse them sleves I didnt want to (especally having no one to help me) and I'm only small so a good pony suits me better.

Hi paganamber, Your Aize is an absolute star!

Think you already know my favourite breed but just in case yu've forgotten - here he is!

IMG_2353-1.jpg

I've got a ISH, he's pretty much 1/2 and 1/2 ID/TB but not a strait X.

Didn't put a lot of thought into it when I bought him TBH!! Wasn't looking but someone had a nice, cheap horse so I got him! He is perfect for me though (maybe a bit big, but no ones perfect!) He has a very genuine temprement, bags of power and scope and has tough little legs for the hunting! Just right for what I do which is SJ, event and hunt.

Think Irish horses to tend to be genuine, think any future horses I buy will be from Ireland. :)
