What breed of horse do you have and why

I have a haflinger because I fell in love with him, for being so genuine, and he still is!
I also have a haflinger because I didn't believe anybody's prejudices about them and went with my heart.

I also have a TB ex-racer because she is the sweetest most genuine mare that just wants to please, though she's a nightmare for me out hacking :) (But my dad does that job;))

I dont care what breed I just want a loving genuine horse :)

I fell in love with an appaloosa at my local riding school, when i went horse hunting i decided i wanted an appy like him. I love their temp and i think they are really nice looking.
Well i couldnt find anything suitable, so decided to leave it for a little while.
Then i found out a 3 yr old tb that id also ridden was going to the knackers because of lameness issues, so i bought him.
It couldve been a disaster, but after abit of time and a brilliant farrier/ chiro hes 100% sound.
Hes such a beautiful character, happy to do whatever i want. Hes just started jumping and loves it, but also happy to hack. He just loves spending time together.
To top it off, i was given the appaloosa from the riding school last year. :D
Kx

APHA
AQHA
Morgan
Arabian

...because I can:D

No, seriously, actually, yes, I do have them because I can,
the Paints and the QH's because I like the breed,
the Morgan because she ticked the boxes as a riding horse,
and the arabian because I love arabians, anyway, she is extremely well bred and I wanted her for breeding at the time.

Oh, I have some Paint part breds and a mini too.

I have a pacer, simply because I fell in love with him when I first set eyes on him. It didn't matter me to what breed he was, the fact that he was gentle around my 5 year old daughter meant more to me. He loves kids and when we're out on hacks, he loves nothing more than to stop and say hello to the kids we pass.
I struck gold when I bought him. I couldn't have asked for a better horse. We've done everything together. X country, show jumping, Le Trec and endurance riding. We even share a bag of crisps down the local pub. :D
He's the sweetest, kindest horse I've ever known. He tries his heart out for me and he always, always wants to please me. I love the bones of him! :D

PRE's, Stallion, colt and mares.
Appaloosa x Andalusian
Hispano-Arabe

I have them because their amazingly beautiful, kind, clever, tough, brave, good doers, and, IMO, the best, most comfortable, riding horse you can get!

I've had or looked after various other breeds, but none of them have had the affinity with people that an Iberian has.

I do love Welsh Cobs too, but I'm getting too old to argue with them!

I have a connie cross.

I didn't buy him because he was a connie, although I do like a horse with at least a bit of native (they are generally hardy good doers with a brain), I bought him because he suited my needs, was a price I could afford and wasn't too far away.

Nevr had anything with connie in it before , but after this one I would defo have another.

I have 3 Polish Warmbloods - because I'm familiar with the breeding and know how to pick a good jumper on pedigree, and like the dash of arab in them, which gives them more agility and toughness.
And an IDxConnie, because she was white and my OH wanted a white horse, she is also dim in an adorable way :D

I had my heart set on a Dales or a Fell but for some reason I ended up at a Welsh Cob Stud to look at a black colt and ended up buying a chestnut colt and a bay filly. Before I saw them I never really liked Welsh Cobs, didn't like their conformation or reputed silliness but they have turned out to be 2 of the best horses I've ever owned.

A Welsh Cob Sec D, because I'm a sucker his good looks, I knew very little when I got him, didnt realise they were very intelligent, and sometimes seem to think they are trying-out for the GrandNational!!!!!! The longer I've had him the more I think...wow, I want another Welshie again, so full of character and generally fun to play around with!

^This. We've got two PREs now, one for me and one for my OH. We got the first as he was a horse we could share (my OH is a novice but I want something to do some competing on) and the second because we found that sharing isn't enough fun!! They are such people horses, lovely to be around, and so trainable as long as you're consistent with them. Brilliant hacks, fun for dressage and they'll happily pop over a few jumps.

They are also super-comfy, which is important for my OH as he has a straight back and will tip forwards on a bouncy horse.

I have a standardbred. Why? Because when we tried us we knew she was perfect for us.

We didn't know anything about standardbreds before we had her but would definitely have another. I like tb types and my mare is basically a tb with more bone, more sane and a very good doe-er!
She has a wonderful jump, the canter has taken a long time to settle and soften through the back but she has finally clicked and now has a nice, soft expressive canter.

Belgian warmblood - because he ticked all the boxes, was lovely to ride and affordable! He's a sensible chap but so much fun to ride - not silly or spooky, but responsive.. and NOT dumb!

He is a good doer who is never sick or sorry, and has been a fantastic first horse for me, does dressage, sj, events, ht, team chase, trec, you name it, he does it (and invariably brings home the red rosette nearly every time) :)

My first horse, Harley, (who I still have 14 years later) is a skewbald l/w cob, a bit unusual becasue he is buckskin. I wasn't looking to buy a horse, but once I'd met him, I just had to have him - nothing fancy or flash, we don't win competitions, but he is a lovely person, trustworthy, kind, gentle, if a bit spooky. In those 14 years, he has never hit my head with his, and has trodden on my fot once - described by his former owner as 'a true Christian'.

We bred from our Appaloosa x Welsh D mare, back to a D, maybe that was a mistake, she is VERY Welsh in so many ways! She is four this year, and will be broken in the spring - I wouldn't have another Welsh, or another mare, and I love her becasue we bred her, not for herself.

Tinner came to me as a feral weanling, I picked him out of a barn containing 22 weanlings, mixed sex, and he is a delight. He is pretty much the same breeding as Harley, and is chesnut skewbald, by a cob and out of a pony, he is so gentle and kind, he's never bitten or kicked, and is very transparent, you can easily tell if he's unsure (ie learning to load) and help him work it out.

I love my boys - anyone want the girl?!?!

i have 3 friesians ,
one 3 yr gelding who i bred ,
one colt who i imported
one filly who was also imported ,
i ve always loved friesians , from the looks , down to there trainable attuitudes ,
there amasing and laid back temperments you just cant put a price on

TB x i dont know what.
Lord knows why, it was the last thing i wanted to buy when i was shopping, i was meant to be looking for a warmblood or ID type. But the ginger-ninja was the second horse i saw and i simply fell in love with him (even tho his owner couldnt get him over a 1ft x pole and i wanted to low level event.... we're now jumping 3ft happily)
I think the x-something has realy levelled his temperement, he is the quietest TB i have ever known, even if he does have his mischivous sense of humour..... :)

Sec D for my first, loads of character and perfect family allrounder! Now I have a TB aswell because she was cheap, willing and a bit more competitive. I'd have another TB in a second.

i chose to buy a black fell pony as they are beautiful, stocky and hairy.

my first pony was a black dales x and i wanted another black chunky pony again.

after years of working with tb's and tb x i wanted a nice calm sensible pony.

I have a very handsome Lusitano X Welsh D - oh my god if I had known what I had let myself in for I would have run a mile!! :( He is very very sensitive (too much so) sharp and can be an absolute stresshead and worrier - but I put up with his problems as he is such a lovely person and he loves a 1 to 1 and is very affectionate. :) Have had a couple of TBs in the past  but each to their own and would not rush out to get another one, used to have a Fell pony livery with us - she was great - full of character :D

I have a WBxISH - I bought him because I've alwaya loved TB types and wanted something with the paces to do well at dressage. He would have been that horse, too, if it weren't for being struck down by RER!!!

I have a full ID - I bought him because I'd had an Ardennes mare on loan all summer and was in love with heavier, but athletic horses. Had heard wonderful things about Janet George babies and fell in love with the pic she sent me!!! He's going to be my all rounder, but I reckon he'll have a good chance at being a big old dressage horse as he's got lovely paces.

Then there's Bert, my Shetland pony!!! I bought him because he had been bought by the meat man. I bought him to sell....16 years ago! Oops!

I have a 2 yr old dales/cob X and a minature shetland. I bought the dales after my Arab mare Aura died last year. i love Arabs but could not have another one once she had gone so went for something opposite.
