Is sounding air jacket related! Until you said horse related was going to say you had tripped over in the yard which I did a few weeks back.

I was once on a hacking holiday, we were galloping along happily when the horse in front lost a great big packed lump of mud from it's back shoe and we galloped into it. It hit my thigh. Not that painful but I had a very impressive hoof shaped bruise on my thigh for a couple of weeks. Looked like I'd been kicked.

Not yet punched myself doing a girth up but the smallest horse I ride is 17hh so the girth is already at my chin level.

These have given me a good laugh today… mainly as I’ve done most of them.

I recently dismounted with a body protector on and managed to get caught on the stirrup as I slid down, I was suspended in mid air with the body protector almost suffocating me as it was trapped between stirrup and my chin/throat. Not my finest hour.

Let me guess. You took off your air jacket, a gust of wind caught it and said air jacket walloped you in the face........?

Or, you realised half way through dismounting that you hadn't unhooked, interrupted the dismount, slammed face into saddle?

I still think my first guess is more likely though.

I'll put you all out of your misery - or is that amusement?

Somehow, (god knows how) after unclipping myself and doing exactly as I should, I managed to trap the gas canister between me and the saddle as I got off. As I slid gracefully(?) down, the gas canister stayed put, the whole of my air jacket rode up and the top of the canister whacked me in the lip. It bleddy hurt too. I doubt I could do it again if I tried!

Oooo, I'd have been really close if I'd written one of the things I thought of which was somehow getting a solid body protector caught on the saddle and kind of sliding down through it and whacking your chin face on the way down.
