What colour is he?

Hi,
What colour would you say Jasper is? His passport says "tobiano", but the definitions of that I've found say they have 4 white legs from the knee down, but his near fore is dark. When hairy, it's a biscuity-dun colour, when clipped it's almost steel grey with flecks of chestnut! He's certainly unusual, I've not seen another horse the same!

He's lovely. My mare is a funny colour scheme too and when I queried it with the vets I was told black and white is piebald as we all know but anything else is classed as Skewbald even if it's a mixture of colours so I am not really very helpful sorry - but he is very nice x

He is a dun (or more technically correct a buckskin) tobiano. Is he CHAPS registered?

My horse is classed as a Blue Tobiano on her CHAPS passport, although I just say she's blue and white. Like your horse, mine has a solid blue face (blaze/snip/star allowed) and then patches of solid colour on her body.

He is CHAPS registered, just as "tobiano". I guess "skewbald" or "coloured" covers it! Still curious though.
He is unique, and I love him for it xxx

Jasper's fantastic! And so nice to see a coloured horse with similar colouring to mine! On my passport mine was listed as dun skewbald, when I went to insure him none of the companies recognised that colouring and wouldn't allow me tri-coloured even. So he's gone down just as a skewbald though he's not. Mine has four clean grey legs, and black, white and brown in mane and tail. And he goes the most lovely dun colour in the summer and he darkens up at the front over the winter so it's more of a mocha coffee colour and like yours when clipped is a sort of dark grey/moleskin colour which is fantastic. My physio says he's a sort of wild rabbit colour in the summer

I'll have to try and get a photo sorted out to put up somehow though I have no camera at the moment so you can see him. When he was vetted, the vet who came to see him taught at a vet school part-time so took a picture so that he could test his students with what colour you would call him - unique that's what I call him!

Thats what I think. My YO breds for buckskins and perlinos etc, anything thats a dilute anyway lol. He is lovely though x.
