I always thought white was the norm, but having been told today that "only numpties wear white jods at low level" I'm now wondering who's right.
At the level I'm thinking of competing at, I think cream, beige or white would be fine!

Everyones got to have an opinion haven't they!

Personally I wouldn't judge anyone based on their colour of jodhpurs - as long as they fit in with the competition's rules why not.

The person who said that is a numpty themselves for being so judgemental!

^^ this! Haha!

Wear what you like Chan. I have cream ones as just can't face white!

Exception would be if you have a tweed jacket I suppose. I kind of assumed you didn't though :)

Depends on your jacket, if tweed then jods should be beige or cream etc. Navy or black jacket I'd say white jods but don't quote me on that as I only wear tweed!

1. Nobody wants to see my thighs in skin tight white clothing.
2. My horses are grey, if I wear white, they look filthy
3. Life is way too short to get horsey stains out of white jods.

I wear cream and a tweed jacket. I only do riding club though, not affiliated.

Thanks guys! I'd be in a black jacket, so figured it'd be white jods! I do have tweed, but I generally save that for jumping/showing. Glad I'm not a numpty after all!

Wear what you want! Everyone seems to wear white jods now at BD, going back a few years it was seen as an upper level thing but now it's the norm. I think white/cream/pale grey are all acceptable. Mine are actually very light grey but they look white from a distance.

People will always have an opinion no matter what you do so go with what you like best :)

I have a friend who wears beige with a black jacket and it looks fine. Not as crisp as white perhaps, but the judge doesn't seem to care and neither does the horse. I wear beige with a hacking jacket when it's cold or wet, and white with a black jacket when the weather is nicer or I want to be particularly smart. Sometimes I'm the only one in a hacking jacket at a competition. Who cares! It's how you perform that matters.

I've worn both beige and white with my navy jacket, both look smart and have never had any comments. The white ones do get dirty sometimes but I just chuck them in a wash with some vanish and they usually come up ok! I mostly ended up with the white ones because they were on sale and they'd sold out of the beige version, haha

I always wear beige with tweed or navy jacket. No-one, I will repeat NO-ONE deserves to see my thunder thighs in white! Lord, as much as anything the very sight of them clad in dazzling white would scare the horses!

The way I see it, if the most critical someone can be about our performance is to comment on the colour of my leg wear, then that is a VERY good day!

No, not a numpty. I tend to wear a tweed jacket with beige jods at the lower levels and then a black or blue jacket with cream jods at the higher levels. There is certainly no rule to say you can't wear white jods at the lower levels.

Pfftt, I have no flipping idea, I've just bought a Navy jacket and asked a question on the unofficial British Dressage fb page about colour jods, lots of replies, no definitive answer!

On that basis, I'm sticking with my pale beige jods, they are more flattering than white. :)

Everywhere i have been out competing almost everyone is in white jods with either black or navy jacket, thats unaffiliated level from intro upwards. I wear white with a navy jacket but this year i will be changing my attire. Only because i have some lovely brown boots which i love and fit my leg better than my black ones (and they are harder and more supportive) so will be wearing these with cream jods and my navy jacket. My horse is a welsh D and he wears a navy blue saddle cloth. Also my gloves will be navy too :)

That sounds really nice!

That's what I'll be wearing, pretty much! New jods, new hat silk and a different horse :P So I don't think I'll look too bad!
