I mean.. What colours do you put your gingers in?? Hi all, I have a chestnut tb & now he's through his injury & fully recovered & back working I'm thinking about what colours to put him in.. I quite like him in navy blue (as in navy numnah etc) but my tack is black!! (eeek a chestnut in black tack!! lol) & I don't think black tack & navy looks that good together.. What about burgundy? What do you all put your chestnuts in??

hmmmm as long as the navy isnt really dark but not quite black it shouldnt be bad but have you considered green? know its unlucky but i would certainly take a miss with the burgundy...

George is a bright chesnut and I am odd because I really like him in black tack and don't know why people think it's awful :( if we are doing xc I go for a mix of electric blue and navy for numnah, browband, me etc.

Any shade of blue looks nice on a chesnut. Stay away from red, yellow and orange, don't really like burgandy on chesnuts.... Brown, beige, creams and grey look lovely too. Black looks smart, does on anything....can look abit boring though.....I think a pea/mint green would look nice, but not a deep grass green. xoxo

i have a very rich chestnut colour mare, and she is in black tack, and has black numnah, a white one, (has white blaze and socks) and also a pale purple one, which suprisingly, everyone comments on how nicely its suits her and how you wouldnt think purple would....its kinda this shade of purple :o:p

My ginger one is in *shock horror* Black tack and saddle cloth!
However much to his embarrassment he's in a bright turquoise turnout rug at the mo-really suits him actually!:D

this was my mare not long after i got her in black tack!!! and navy poly pad!

dont think she looked too bad ;)

sorry for huge pic dont know how to make it smaller

another one for green... i asked my non horsey mam for advice on this as she allways wears perfectly matching outfits. Mam said bottle green so it must be right!! :-)

Everyone at my yard puts green on there chestnuts.

My chestnut came with a lilac headcollar which suited her but I hated it. I prefer to be dull and boring and put her in black or white with black tack.

Traditionally in brow bands anyway Chesnut was yellow bay was green black was red and grey was blue I think if memory serves me right

Thats so funny - with season fast approaching I was only thinking what colour my boy would look good in too for his show rug and macthing travel boots. He is a lovely chestnut colour with white socks and stripe.
Think I am going to plump for GREEN as I borrowed a friends green NZ the other day as his was so wet and he looked dead cute! hee hee

my sorrel Quarter Horse wears bright turquoise... tack wise his western stuff is tan and his english gear is havana brown.

Here he is out for a walk before I backed him in his western saddle and turquoise headcollar!

Def most shades of blue (really striking, be sure to check out the Eskadron 2011 colours- they are gorgeous!), then caramel and chocolate colours. I think the only colour to be a bit wary of is orange.....surely that would raise a bit of a clashing issue!!? :p

mmm...had never thought of green.. might have to have a look into that one.. when I first got him a lady on the yard bought him some bits & they were all purple!!! EEk!!
