Horse - wise?

IF I was looking for a new horse, then it would have to be about 16hh, fairly sensible, I am not a TB person, but something that could do a bit of everything. Not bothered by age, but would prefer to have a younger horse.

Ideas on a postcard please!??

An ex-competition horse on permanent loan / for a token payment might be worth considering. It's a method I can vouch for.

We have a 16.3hh 6 year old coloured eventer up for permanent loan but he is pure TB

otherwise he'd suit you.

There's plenty of horses out there - I bought Murphy for £1250 and he is pretty much an allrounder - if not to everyones taste! Bit old @ 8 - but shows similar are out there..

sorry to sound dim but I was told that you couldn't get a pure thoroughbred that was coloured? obviously this isn't true as you have one but you just don't see that many about

You have my attention...not that I am seriously looking...tell me more?

You could be right, I really don't know. The one I mentioned may not be 100% TB, I suspect there is 1/8 of something else in there at most - not mine so I don't all full details of his breeding.

There is something very strange going on here as that horse is actually called Nadinaa, it is 12YO KWPN and the mother of my sisters horse. So either they have got the wrong photo, or they are mis describing it. I would ask to see the passport.

They are buying all these horses from the Rumer Stud and using the same photos from their website to advertise them, although the descriptions are slightly different.

Just looked coloured tbs up on web and there is such a thing!

Apparently the first (in this country I think) was born in feb this year ...you learn something new everyday!

Which bit got your attention, the loan part or the 16.3 eventer?
grin.gif

One of girls in my yard is moving to London to pursue her acting career and is urgently trying to rehome her horse - she will sell if she can (asking £6k) but is equally happy to put him with a permanent loan home, the critical factor being time - she goes very soon I believe.

He's a very sweet character, nice paces, bit green but lovely jump and very willing to learn. You want her number..................? Or is that putting too much temptation in your way..........

I'm half heartedly looking for something similar at the moment and everything seems to be twice that budget. The world has gone mad.

I found this when I was looking 3 years ago - depressing, isn't it?

I wanted a 15.2hh - 16hh gelding, 8-10yrs old, that had done a bit of everything. (doesn't everyone?!?) I ended up with a 16.3hh, 12 yo, that had only ever hunted ie no schooling at all, and has loads of quirks! I love him dearly, but wouldn't go down that route again as it's been an upward struggle. I know there are good 'uns out there for the money, but I couldn't find any. I don't think I'd buy again unless I had £4,000+ to spend.

We bought the son of Caron, and they showed us the mum next time we went up.

What do you think? Would we suit? What are his feet like

That is temptation indeed Mrs........

you defo got it right- the mare was on there last week as I downloaded it on my from from vodainternet. I've seen alot of carons horses on hsemart, same pics, diff owners and new names etc

I've just brought a 14.3 3.5yr old for £1500 and looked at lots of others 14.3hh-16.2hh all under 2K. I wanted a youngster and was prepared to put the work in. Saw some horses which I wouldn't touch but lots of them had good potential as long as you were prepared to put the effort in!

LOL!

Would you suit? Well he is very TB type, rather long legged and a bit "dangly" ATM but being such a big horse I would expect him to take time to mature. He is sensitive and forward going without being stupid. Very much a relationship kind of chap - once he trusts he trusts completely. He's been out and done a few local events and been placed every time I think. Superstar across country but his concentration needs building to improve his SJ. His most recent test was his first novice, did N32 and he got a 65%. Yeah, I think you'd suit but he is very much a work in progress.

His feet? Hmmmmmm........... are you turning in to a fellow obsessive missy?!?
grin.gif
They could do with better attention than they are getting ATM, IMHO. He has a negative sole-plane behind which current farrier hasn't corrected but we know a man for the job
wink.gif
- that could well help him to strengthen up behind.

We had one of the foals staying here for the summer. SN will testify it was neither very well marked or even very nice!
